Try showing up with your ID, Checkbook, Credit Card and a police officer in plain clothes/lawyer.

got a call from these same folks who said I had been entered to win $25k but did I prefer the Ford Escape Hybid?  I asked who had entered me - he said credit card companies such as Visa, Mastercard, Amex an Diners card. He then said - "you still have one of those don't you"?  I said yes.

I asked him to verify their corporate name - they said it was (I am pretty sure) "publishers house contests" and "NOT Publishers Clearing House" -  and I started checking them out online. Could not find any reference to this company he said he was from.

He asked again which prize did I prefer so I asked what the value of the Ford Escape Hybrid was.  He didn't  seem to know the answer and asked again what I wanted to win.  I was looking online and was delaying answering his questions.  Found out that Ford Escape was not  manufacturing a hybrid model after 2012 and that there are no 2012's for sale anywhere.  Started to pin him down - he mumbled "Chr**t" and hung up on me.

They had called me around 10 times over several days and never left messages. Twice I picked up the phone (unknown name unknown caller) and when asked to respond to my name, I asked who was calling, instead.  Each time the person hung up on me. The third time I said yes - which led to the conversation (above).

Scam for sure!

I got this today but from 888-878-4252 for a Ford 2012. Same routine show up with checkbook, credit card and ID but in Fredericksburg Va. Must be a new # for the new year. Has anybody ever actually showed up?

Got the same call.  Guy said that I had to be married and be between certain ages.  Then he said that we had to make enough money to pay the taxes, and he had a list of questions to verify financials.  SCAM!

The number above said I won a 2011 Ford Hybrid Escape and to please call back.  It wasn't a recording either which made it sound believable.  He also said "congratulations" at the end of the call      888-689-0296

I got a call like this and they said I had to earn at least $60K to be eligable, in order to afford the TAXES. Hmmmm. Does anyone know who these people are and what they are up to

message on voice mail from this number 1-877-799-9234. not going to call back the prize director to "claim my prize" of a ford escape.  I am also in Woodbridge, VA

Just got a message on my voice mail today 5-30-11 with the same basic scam...the call back number was different though 1-877-799-9234.  I checked it on a reverse number look up and it came back to a Home Inspection firm in Spartenberg SC.   (Probably a former Home Inspection company and they were reissued the old 877 #)

I got the same message to call back 1-888-689-0296 that I won the 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid. When I called back, they said it is a local company called AB Vacation in my state to present the winning session, as long as I drive there and listen to 90 minutes presentation, I can win AT LEAST a TV. Great! I Pass.

Someone called and left me a message saying I had won a 2011 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID and said Congratulations. I called back and they asked if I had a spouse or significant other. I said no I'm single. They said oh well you have to be married or have a signifiant other to be a winner. I snapped told them they better not dare call my home again. WHAT A BUNCH OF LOSERS.

This type of fraud is a federal felony, but nobody's going to enforce the law because the feds are too busy chasing imaginary terrorists.

I have received two messages from these guys. I never enter stuff online and if I do, I never enter my cell phone. Since they called my home phone I know it is a farce.

I received a call today that i had won in some sweepstakes. They said their place was called Premier Discounts (and that it was a travel agency near Woodbridge VA). I was a guaranteed winner of either 1: 2011 ford Escape (or opt out for $25000). 2place was $2500, 3rd place was a cruise to the Bahamas, and 4th place was a flat screen TV.
Did anyone else "win this", and did you go to the location the provide you?

I got the same message....  I called back and they could not find me in their system.    Wanted my name and said they would call me right back....    Sure they will!
