I changed my phone number on the profile the Boston Globe has on file for me. Now they telemarket themselves.

I received a call at noon today (Thanksgiving). If it is from the Globe, it makes sense, because I did not receive my paper this morning. I called to report it, and it was then delivered about an hour later.  I believe they are checking to be sure that I received it and that I am satisfied.  They should identify themselves, not call anonymously. By the way, my delivery is always on time, right by the door, so there must have been a substitute today,

I am, as well, a current customer.  They're relentless...they call enough to make me cancel my subscription.  VERY annoying!

Just got my third call of the day.  They call from different numbers, as stated by Chris K. above.  Wow...they just don't stop.  They've called so much that when I see their number I pick up the phone and then hang it up. It hasn't seemed to deter them yet, but I'm hoping they get the message at some point!

I've registed with the national 'do not call list' and I had the same problem in the past. They never left a message and called numerous times a day (6 on average!). So, I eventually emailed them and asked to be removed. They responded saying the would, but they didn't. So I threatened lawyers and they stopped.

If they call at an unreasonable hour (after 8pm) it's against the law. I'd get copies of your phone bills w/ the number. Hope this helps!

The DNC list does not work with companies with whom you have a preexisting business relationship. They can call you for up to a year after your last transaction with them. So if you had a subscription to this Boston paper in the last year they can continue to call you.

However you can ask to be put on the companies internal DNC list and if they call you after that they can be sued. You have to notify the company that you wish to be on their internal DNC list. If they call after that you have a private right of action meaning that the govt will not go after these callers as a violation of public law but you can personally sue them on your own.

I am in Denver and have had the same problems with the Denver Post. They called and called apparently trying to get me to add weekdays to my subscription. I finally told them to add me to their internal DNC list and they stopped calling. One reason I think these calls are masked or listed as Unavailable is because the newspapers hire outside telemarketing agencies to call for them. Another reason to not answer or
sign up for anything they are selling. And as was suggested, tell them you will cancel your subscription if they continue to harass you!

We have actually cancelled our subscription to the Boston Globe because of these calls.  They're on some automated system, so no matter what you say to the phone rep, the calls just keep coming.  If this is how they do business now, then they'll have to do without mine.

I too have been getting these annoying phone calls - we don't answer them.  I just wonder why the Boston Globe needs to hide behind an "Unavailable" i.d.?  The message is a recorded one - and then a person picks up - it is some kind of "opportunity" - I have never heard the entire message, as my recorded message is also playing.

If you are registerd on www.donotcall.gov keep track of the calls. If they don't stop calling, report them. They will be fined!

(The National Do Not Call Registry is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency.)

I am constantly getting phone calls from this number..which happens to be
the Boston Globe...the call comes thru as 'unavailable', and they try at
various times of the day and evening.
I have e-mailed the Globe and demanded that they remove my name, address,
and phone number from their listings.
Since I also have the 'do not call' and did get a response from my request,
from them stating that I wanted my information REMOVED from their listings,
what should I do next. These calls are very irritating !!!!
