this is a state collections place calling to collect debts

I receive calls from this phone number three times a day tell them everytime they have the wrong number they still call at 9pm asking for some lady i have never heard of.

I've had a number of calls from this number.  They ask to
Speak to a Shelly Wongbong,,  I laugh at the  woman and ask her
Where did she come up with a name lije that,, and
do I sound like Shelly Wongbong.  Haha

Call came in on my work # (a major university and a number not affiliated with any of my personal business) in the evening when we would not be conducting business anyway. Left no message.

Got the same number on my caller ID.  When called back I sat through 12 "please hold".  The company is SCSI and they are simply a call center for other firms.  Problem is, when I called back, they had no record of having ever called me.  I give this numbers a "SCAM" or "DONT ANSWER" contact name on my phone.

My wife, & I got new contracts with US Cellular, with new numbers. STUPID! With in 2 days, 888-696-9443 starts showing up on callerid. My wife doesn't answer the phone, if she doesn't recognize the number via callerid.. One day I did, & of course.. an Automated Voice says, "Hello.. This is an important phone call, & if you'd please hold, a representative will be with you shortly"  wait 30 seconds, & the automated voice repeats the above quote. After listening to the automated voice for 10 cycles (20 minutes waiting to yell at someone.).. I hung up. It IS a Collection Agency, They are calling the wrong number! They ARE Breaking the Law by not identifying themselves right off the bat, & since these calls are coming after 9pm they are breaking laws on the double whammy principle (If we're going to break one, & get away with it, hell.. lets break em all"). I can't stand these people, & I wish they'd get the right numbers, when they call people. I actually talked to one collection agency couple weeks ago, who called my wife's phone. Their phone number was similar, but i didn't write it down. If I find out these people lied to me, when they said, "They'd remove the number from their database. Then its on. I'l; start getting telemarketers home numbers & calling them at home.


We need to report these people (& or the phone number) to our States dept of Consumer affairs, & Dept of Justice. They'll find out who they are, & if they get enough complaints, shut them down.

this number is calling me and left message for collecting debt, I already send letter to them ask who are they& ask them to send prove that they are allowed to do that & ask them send details but never send me any info. take care of this company & watch what you say before you say it.

Getting call from this number random times.

I get call from this number at odd hours 5am in the morning.

I called the local number and got through almost immediately.  Politely explained to the person there
that I've had the phone number they were calling for about 3 months, and I suspected they are trying
to reach the person that had it before me.  Told her that I was still getting calls and text messages
for the other person, she said she'd experienced the same.

They asked my name, confirmed it wasn't who they were looking for, and said they'd take my new
phone number off their call list.  I'll post a followup, if this doesn't stop.

Multiple calls that I have not answered. They never leave a message. I called them back from a different number and rude person answered. When I asked who they were she demanded my phone number and name. I declined and she said she couldn't help me and hung up!

I had this number call me today and asked for my husband which they had a business opportunity. Vicki gave me her number for him to return her call. She never said who she was working for and hung up. I didn't even get to say bye to her before she hung up.  Needless to say she was short and rude with me.

This number kept calling me but I wasn't getting any message so I finally called them back. It is a state collection agency. Two years ago I moved and had a $25 balance on a utility bill that did not get forwarded to me for some reason after I moved. They were actually very nice - I was pretty embarassed to have this unpaid bill out there that I didn't know about.

I keep getting called from this number and I have no clue who it is. They don't leave any messages, they just call me constantly, 7am, 10pm, and anywhere in between. I figure if it's important they'd leave a message, but they never do. I don't answer or call back numbers that idk and that don't leave messages. I'm just sick of them callin me all the time.

Private number said he was "Jim", With SVSI, when asked what company he would only respond "personal business" as I was acting like an associate for myself.  He than said we'll leave it at that and hung up.

Well, Mark @ SCSI, I truly do NOT have any debts in collection but I am called almost every day (on November 1st there were FIVE calls), asking for people I DON'T KNOW. I logged 29 calls in 14 days.  Caller ID name is UNAVAILABLE and number is UNKNOWN NUMBER. I've told them I don't know the people, told them I've only had the phone number for 3 months, and told/asked them to stop calling. This violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in the following ways:

§ 806. Harassment or abuse
    (5) Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number.
    (6) The placement of telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of the caller’s identity.

§ 807. False or misleading representations
    (10) The use of any false representation or deceptive means to collect or attempt to collect any debt or to obtain information concerning a consumer.
    (11) The failure to disclose in the initial written communication with the consumer and, in addition, if the initial communication with the consumer is oral, in that initial oral communication, that the debt collector is attempting to collect a debt and that any information obtained will be used for that purpose, and the failure to disclose in subsequent communications that the communication is from a debt collector, except that this paragraph shall not apply to a formal pleading made in connection with a legal action.

§ 808. Unfair practices
    (5) Causing charges to be made to any person for communications by concealment of the true propose of the communication. Such charges include, but are not limited to, collect telephone calls, pre-paid cell phone minutes, and telegram fees.

To clear this up once and for all, this company is called "State Collection Service Inc." or "S.C.S.I."  According to their letterhead, they are located at 2509 S. Stoughton Rd.  Madison, WI 53716.  Their regular telephone number is 608-661-3062 and their toll free number is 888-696-9443.  Their hours are M-Th 7a to 9p, Fri 7a to 5p and Sat 8a to 12p.  I too have been getting these irritating calls and finally reported them to the Do Not Call Registry after getting into it with the rep on the phone.  Since they were not allowed to call me anymore, they finally went through proper channels and mailed me a letter.  Job transfers have caused me to move a lot over the last couple of years and there was an AMEREN IP bill that slipped through the cracks - as "Gayle Feb 26, 2009" also stated.  My bill dated back to December 2006.  After extensive research I found out they were right.  It's just ridiculous that it took 2 1/2 years to send a notice in the mail.  I've always left a forwarding address so it's not like I've been hiding.....???!!!

Number came through with 999-999-9999 for the caller ID, some girl left a very garbled message with the number 888-696-9443 as the callback number.
No idea who it is, did not call them back.

Second the Garbled message comment - from SCSI ? (svsi?) - I imagine it's a collection agency.  Number did not show up on caller ID

The guy's name was Mark and gave the number 1-888-696-9443 and told my wife to call back she did and a recording came on and said YOUR CALL IS VERY IMPORTANT JUST WAIT ON THE LINE AND THE NEXT AVELABLE REPRSENITIVE WILL BE ION THE LINE SHORTLY .

Mark called again. Wouldn't say what it was about, just kept up with the "personal business" routine.
Asked him to add this number to his "do not call" list and hung up.

My daughter (21) received a call at our house this morning.  The woman said it was important personal business and to have my daughter call her back at the 18886969443 number.  She would not identify the company she was calling from or say anything regarding what the call was about.  She said it had to do with my daughter's right to privacy.  My daughter has no credit cards or debts, so it is highly unlikely to be a collection call.  My concern about my daughter calling back is whether there is any potential for phone charges.  I've heard about some kind of bait and switch operations where the party calls back on a toll free line and then the call is switched somehow to a very high cost number instead.
