I was so excited to see another toll free number calling me. I was so excited that I forgot to answer to see what great free offers I would be so fortunate to receive. It went to VM and was pleasantly but muffled elevator music. I guess that was my free gift, a garbled ditty I could barely hear. Just imagine if I'd answered, I'd be awash in at least 60 more seconds of the blurry melody.

I just left a message with the director of FOSE about this. Maybe they will change their practice!

This # called me at my DOE office # and made me sit on the phone for a minute and half of elevator music. When someone finally answered "hello" and said how are you today. I said fine except I received a call where it made me sit on the phone for 90 seconds before someone even came on. She hung up. I left them a nasty message on their voice mail.

I just received this for the third time. When you pick up it asked you to wait while connecting with their client. I decided to wait and tell whoever is calling not to call. Did not even get a chance. After waiting for 2 minutes, somebody picked up and hang up the phone.

I just got the same call on my government voicemail: 1 minute 41 seconds of elevator music with an automated message saying something like "we apologize for the delay...we are a contact center contacting you about a free publication for your company"...followed by more elevator music and a voice saying, "hello? hello?"
I don't want anything to do with a company that would do something that freakin' annoying.

They call and don't leave a message and it happens about 3 times a day. I have a rule, If I don't know the number, I don't pickup.
Dick Dixon 2010-03-22 20:33:24 Unknown
Received a call but no one was on the other end. This has happened several times.

I just received this for the third time. When you pick up it the UNFRIENDLY VOICE, asked you to wait while connecting with their client. The the elevator music plays. I decided to wait and tell whoever is calling not to call. Did not even get a chance. After waiting for 2 minutes, somebody picked up and hang up the phone.

Bad music recording playing when I picked up the phone. SOOOOOOOO tired of free trade magazine subscription renewal calls. All they want is a "yes" so they can sell ad space. They couldn't care less if it goes straight to the trash bin.
Hint: If it's so bad you can't even give it away, maybe it's time to re-evaluate...

I finally got to speak with a person & told them this was the last time I'd 'ask' to be taken off the list...
They were verifying my subscription to "Assembly" magazine... If they call again I will take it up with "Assembly"... they should know their call center / publication reps are annoying and borderline harrassing.
Jim 2010-03-10 14:59:49 Survey
This is an agency that handles renewals for free trade journals/magazines. It's not a sales pitch - they just want to update their survey information. These surveys are basically what gives the magazines' advertisers justification for advertising, and are identical to the ones used when you signed up for the free subscriptions in the first place.
Nothing nefarious, but still annoying; they should do this via mail.

"Kevin" called 3 times within a few minutes and pestered two different people about magazines. Told the first that he did not want voice mail, but wanted to speak with the director. He was told to stop dialing this number.

Just got another call while reading this, asked me by name, I asked who's calling, said something like so and so from trade magazine. I said not interested and was in the middle of telling them not to call me back, they hung up on me.
David 2009-12-21 16:20:24 Unknown
Got this one verifying for free subscriptions. Confirmed the address they had (it's the business, so why not), but didn't give my e-mail (get enough spam). Odd thing was that in order to confirm they spoke with me (even though the say they are recording the call) they asked for how many siblings I had...

Called last week 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and 10:15 a.m. today. They want to renew free industry magazine subscriptions--IT, safety, food, quality, whatever. If you receive a free trade magazine, they might call you. I don't pick up, because the free magazines, no matter how good, are not worth having your sleep interrupted when you work rotating shifts.
CB 2009-09-02 16:31:10 Unknown
Two calls today - one at my home office and one at my corporate office. The call to my home office had no one there. The call to my corporate office had a man speaking apparently to someone in the background and all I could hear was the word "management." Wish these calls would go away.
tummy 2009-08-28 19:34:20 Unknown
I meant to include in my last note that it was a work number. It may make sense if this is a calling machine associated with work publications. (maybe IT publications)? Strange though that no on is ever there.
tummy 2009-08-28 19:32:31 Unknown
I get a call everyday for the last week at 9AM and other various times but no one is on the other end. I just got another call while writing. Good timing I guess. I wish there was someone to ask that they stop calling me.
