On separate occasions I receive calls from this number.  In researching the number, I find that it belongs to Reliance Home Comfort out of Canada.  I am on a national do not call list with my cell phone, and am not supposed to receive any of these calls.  I am not, nor have I ever been a customer of this company, nor do I have a prior relationship to it in any form.  It seems I am not the only person to be irritated and inconvenienced by these calls.  I would like them to cease and never return.

I am not, nor have I ever been a customer of Reliance.  You therefore have no right to call me.  I am on the national do not call list, and that gives me the legal option of suing the company for each call.  I cannot for the life of me figure out why a person in North Carolina should be subjected to robo calls from a company in Canada.

this number has called twice today without leaving a message - i refuse to answer calls from 800/888 numbers who refuse to show who they are when calling - don't call me

might i say that this WhoCallsMe.com website is a great idea - i hope it helps to stop these annoying calls.

I just called back to the 888-721-7759 number. None of their # choices were for what I wanted so I pushed zero. Within 30-45 seconds a pleasant young man came one the phone. I said I received a call from this #, I am a customer in good standing and did not wish to receive any more calls. He asked me for my phone number, I gave it to him. He said it would take 24-48 hours to take effect, and to have a nice day. No problem. So far, anyways.

"Sales" person - how about you get a real life?  Or a real job for that matter - a real job better suited to your skills, like being a janitor.  You are a nuisance.  You are a loser.  You are a loser-nuisance.  How about instead of posting garbage you get a job collecting garbage; you know, trash that people who are better than you throw away.

Thank you for the advice, it seems reasonable enough.

I got my first call tonight but did not answer due to "Unknown Caller" as the display. If it said "Reliance" I might have picked up. Anyone who tries to hide their identity on call display is automatically not trusted. I would have listened to their speel at least once, then based on that I might ask to be put on the no-call list.

If they ignore that, and when I'm in the mood, will stretch that call out as long as possible to generate some revenue for the phone company. It's real easy, I just mumble, wait to be asked everything twice over long pauses, say 'just a minute while I come back', etc. I will waste the caller's time and eat into their quota.

Of course, as a faithful Reliance customer, I get calls from this number -- especially when my payment is a day late, as it currently is.

FYI, three years ago, a Reliance rep posted helpful info on page one above ... I'm going to paste it here, as I found it very informative re how to get calls to stop.

The Reliance Rep said this:
"Hello,

I am currently an agent from the number 888-721-7759, and while I understand I'm probably going to get a lot of hate, I'm going to post anyway, on my own time, not as a rep for Reliance but as an individual on the other side of the fence.
I hope to try and offer some advice and information to anyone who is frustrated by calls from this number.

First off, I'm not a tech buff in any way, shape or form but I will try to post some information so as to generate a better understanding of some of the causes of your frustrations.

Firstly, our centre uses an automatic dialer to call people. What this means is that we do not enter phone numbers manually, a computer program automatically dials the numbers. The dialer is designed to differentiate between an answering machine and a human being.
If it gets an answering machine generally the machine will not direct one of us onto the call, it will simply move on and try another number.
If a human picks up, it will attempt to connect one of our agents.
Sometimes the dialer will lag, failing to connect one of us until a minute or longer has elapsed, sometimes even after the person we are trying to reach has hung up. This is why, sometimes, no one is on the line when you answer. This is what we call 'dead air' and it is indicative of an automatic dialer.

We do NOT target specific individuals to take advantage of their weakness of character, as I've seen stated in other similar topics.

If you are frustrated with our calling, (and I know many of you are) the next time you see our number, please answer and get one of our reps on the line.
I understand that sometimes no one will be on the line, be patient and wait. If no one comes on and the call disconnects, please try again another time we call. Simply ignoring the call will not make it stop.
Once you do have one of our agents on the line, ask to be taken off our calling list.
Registering on the national Do Not Call list will not stop calls from our number. Because you are an existing customer, we are exempt from the national Do Not Call list, and are permitted to contact you.

I am uncertain of the effectiveness of calling our number back and requesting to be taken off the list, I'm sure it does work, but I have spoken to someone who said it did not seem to work. I believe it is automative, and I know personally I'd rather talk to a real person than a machine!

I probably shouldn't be stating this, but when we say it may take 30 days to remove you from the list, politely but firmly say that you wish to be removed immediately. Generally we will take down your number and account name (which appears on our computer screen when the call comes in) and pass it off to our supervisor, who can hasten the removal.

If and when you get one of us on the line, please, try and be polite! :) While you may not like us or our calling, the people I work with are very kind and friendly individuals, and I am happy to have them as colleagues.   Some of them are retired and simply work there to have something to do and people to talk to, others like myself are simply trying to eat and keep a roof over their head while paying their way through school.

Thanks for reading and try not to hate me too much!

Guess what - the a***oles are IGNORING requests to put me on their do not call list... and when I blocked 1 number from them, a few days later the calls came in from the same company from a different bleedin' number!

Don't believe the telemarketer guys who say "just ask to be removed" - they are full of s***.

He had my last name and phone number but was ademant he was working for reliance. i demanded his supervisor, then his boss and so on. no one could provide me my account info to prove they were from reliance. i demanded they never call me again, and called reliance directly to warn them what another breach or privacy would cost them. they apologized and a senior exec assured me it wouldnt happen again.

Alliance doesn't leave messages because they are doing automated calling, with a recorded message to advise that their are people canvassing in your area asking you to change out your rental equipment to their company instead, if you don't answer the phone the automated message doesn't play, some years ago companies stopped using automated calls because it ties up phone lines but for some reason there seems to be a resurgence of this practice, think people need to contact their local MP's about getting a law passed to prevent automatic dialed calls from anyone!
