Same here, but from your post, a year later.  I've gotten calls from them before and never saw the QVS before.  Huh, must be trying to get sneeky about it.  I never answer my phone unless it's one of my contacts.  And they are calling on a really old debt, that they can't collect on anymore.  go away!

Idiot......Any collection agency calling me is about medical bills,,,,you see if they ( the medical provider ) fails to improve the condition (s) they promise to cure...I refuse to pay beyond the co-pay, and what my insurance has already paid, you see I feel they have already been overpaid. Kiss my afterburner.

Then maybe they should also say who they are upfront when I answer my phone. Shady places get hung up on and I also get a letter if its collections.

They are a debt collection company, they buy very old debts from various companies for pennies on the dollar, which is a legitimate company, however, when they do this and you are one of the people with debt that they have bought, any debt that is associated with you in any way, meaning if you were married and now separated or divorced and your splice had debt, they will hound you until you give in and agree to pay such debt. They do and will keep hounding you until they get you to give in., keep in mind that most of the debt they are trying to get you to pay is probably so old that the original debtor has more than likely written the debt off, meaning you legally don't have to pay it.  Just be wise with this company.

Saw this on Facebook and it works. When they call answer the phone like this "it done like you asked, but there is blood everywhere". Lol. They hang up!! Rofl
Or what I've done is go to google translate and type in "can't come to the phone right now" and translate it into a foreign language like Russian.  I use it as my outgoing message, they also hang up after they hear the message.... I appear to have a landline number that belonged to someone who has debt and I got tired of all the calls....

They collect on medical debt

It a collection agency.  They have you on auto dial.   They can call with it unless you tell them they cannot.  They can leave a message asking for a return call.  But that is all.   They cannot state any specifics about the debt.  

I'm not sure if you're an idiot or just stupid.  Since you have all the answers then you will never be a victim of fraud.  No one will ever call your home or work, advice you of a balance due of a debt you don't owe or you've disputed over and over again.  Last time I looked, I still receive mail from the USPS.  Since you have all the answers you probably realize that mail is to be sent first, stating the agency who's collecting a debt for a certain company, how much is owed, and giving 30 days to dispute.  I can guarantee that most 3rd party collection agencies do not do that.  Every night on the news, we are all advised NOT, NOT, NOT!!!! to give out or confirm ANY, ANY ANY!!! personal information over the telephone.  As I said, you're either an idiot or a self righteous, stupid person.

Why be such a dick about it. Some people struggle to pay their bills. Some people would rather pay to keep their home or their car and not pay a medical bill or in my case a bill that I am never going to pay as it is bogus. Who are YOU to judge people, I am sure you have lots of money to make that comment.

CBCS lady, who refused to identify herself by name, claimed I owed some company $14,000. and I would be put in jail if I did not tell her my bank's name and my account number and authorize direct withdrawal of $800. a month until the debt was done. I hung up.

I do not owe any company money. I am 96 and have been debt free for more than 60 years. My late husbands never were in debt. They paid cash for everything from my medical education, to our houses and villas, our cars and boats and semi-annual world travel. Why, I don't understand why everyone doesn't pay cash if only to keep these creeps away.

yes u can report them, and yes the do not call list does apply. I worked for a collection agency and if you tell them not to call you they can not call you! and you have to tell them to put you on their do not call list!!!!!

Give me a break. I do not care what it takes to be a debt collector. No one and I mean NO ONE has the right to threaten you with a lawsuit or jail time or garnishment when they cannot PROVE that a debt is yours. Or, better yet, my phone number, which I have had for three years, gets called ALL the time from debt collectors looking for the previous owner of the number. Guess what? They are rude, refuse to listen when I tell them I am not that person and do not remove me from their list. I live in Ohio, the person they are looking for lives in North Carolina. Now, you want to explain why the collector has the right to threaten ME with her bill? You need to get off this site. It is not for collectors, it is to report people like you.

I hate to correct you, but illegal debt collectors do not help the economy. They hinder it. First, most states have laws regarding debt collection. One of them would be the fact that after a certain number of years of no payments, the debt becomes invalid. Another is that a debt collector, by law, has to PROVE the debt is yours. Failure to do so means that the debt can be invalidated through legal channels. So, please refrain from making idiotic remarks in favor of debt collectors. Either you are absolutely perfect or you have never had the pleasure of dealing with someone calling about a debt that is twenty years old and cannot be provided with proof that the debt is yours, let alone valid.

I never answer that number because I know who they are, my MagicJack answering mach pops up that number and I just ignore it, they call from time to time, and get the SAME results from me...unanswered :-)

Tomasz, they do collect medical debts. I owe a fair amount of money for hospital bills and have made small payments every month. The hospital turned me over to this collection agency even though I have been making payments and now I have this agency who is relentless with calling and wanting to set up automatic payments.
A. You have the illness that put you in the hospital and
B. you have a collection agency harassing. It's terrible.

These guys have called me nine times this month. Of course I don't answer. They never left a message, so I have to wonder just how important it really was.

Based on the comments I've been reading, and the fact that the only debt I know that I owe is medical debt, these folks really have no business calling me. After the 5th call, I blocked the number. Hopefully they'll take the hint and leave me alone. I'm certainly not going to give them the satisfaction if they're going to be rude and threatening.

They have no right to threaten you, and they can't do anything other than try to collect the debt, if even owed. It is a scam! They are trying to get peoples information and then rob them blind.

If the person on that called you is harrasing you, threating you, or anything other being nice, they are not a ligeatimant debt collector. They are trying to get peoples credit card info so they can steal their money. I'm in Columbus, Ohio and our Atterny Generals Office takes care of these types of issues. Maybe yours would too.

I hope this helps everyone. And please, don't let anyone harrass you on the phone. NO debt collector can put you in jail, or take your kiddos way, and so fourth. They are only aloud to collect the debt owed.

Person refused to explain who I was supposed to owe money to. I have nothing other than my mortgage to pay. He called me a deadbeat and said that he knew where I live and would send a collector to my house and to my work. He hung up after that.

Calls many times during the day and night. After 9 pm even. I thought that was against the law. Rude woman when I answer never tells me what they call about except that I supposedly owe money to someplace I do not know. When they call and the machine answers, thy leave no messager - so how important can they be ? Probably they are fishing for some sucker.

Caller was rude, abusive and totally unproffessional. He started to call me names and I hung up the phone. How can these people be that way. No way I owe anyone any money.
