I have not been able to prove that you provide a valid serve. We were told that our parents were protected by your service for years, It is funny that they had never heard of you. Their bank had never heard of your. You know, the bank you work so closly with to protect them from fraud? I think they are justified is saying you are stealing from the elderly.

The exact same thing happened to my mother.  She got a call and was told that it was her bank and they had an suspicious check that was written on her account for $289 for magazines.  Said activity didn't look normal for her; proceeded to give her bank routing number and then asked her for her bank account number.  I contacted the BBB and they said they are a fraud.  If anyone is asking you for bank account info, they are a fraud pure and simple.

Dear Godzilla,

Have you tried calling our office? Why would you say we steal? We offer a valid service for a fair fee, if you feel the service is not for you, simply give us a call and cancel your service for a full refund.

Sincerely,
John

re: Response to 'Financial'

Hello Financial,

My name is Todd Marshall, (not Tom), and I'd like to address this issue with you at your nearest convenience, however, please note our telephone system has been acting up, and although I am here in my office currently, I am unable to respond to voicemail for the moment.

Clients who are in fact trying to reach us may experience lengthier delays, rest assured however, we are working to correct this issue.

Regarding the matter at hand, it would certainly be a pleasure to speak to you and rectify the problem, though I do ask that you please remain patient while we sort out our trechnical issue.

Again, I can be reached at the number provided ( 1-888-730-3873 )

Unfortunately, if our voicemail is not accessible for you to leave your contact/call back details, please try again, and ask for me specifically if another assistant answers your call.

Also, please note that in the event you wish to discuss a financial matter with us on behalf of a client, I would require authorization from the client in order to discuss the matter in detail with any third-party, financial institutions included.  I'm sure you're familiar with these basic protocols.

I work at a financial and received a request by a member to figure out what this charge was. I googled the company name and was presented with a website that had a phone number listed that was not the one on the check. I proceeded to look up the phone number on the check and found this website. I have called the number listed about by "Tom" and "John" several times, and all that happens is it rings and rings and then I receive a busy tone. Despite trying to make it seem as though they are a reputable company, I find it hard to believe they do not have a voicemail...

My 87 year old mother was just taken in by this scam.  It would seem by the previous posts that this company preys on the elderly. Tom and John how are you able to defend your company's practices when you are clearly taking advantage of people who are not able to make financial decisions.  If it is the regular practice of a company to take money from our senior citizens then they should be put out of business.

Dear sdc58,

The information you have been given was either misunderstood or not correct. Your mother can receive a full refund when and if she cancels her services with us. If you are calling on her behalf you will be asked if you are her poa however this is only done to protect our clients since we have no way of knowing who is calling. Please call us back or ask your mother to call, i'm sure we will be able to assist you. Should you get our voice mail please leave us a message and one of our client care representatives will return your call.

I called consumer first after my mothers bank account was overdrawn by a $298 electronic withdrawl. I called them and was told no refund unless I gave them a copy of power of attorney. I believe this is a scam as all she wants is a refund-not to press charges. I got the phone # off her cancelled electronic check.

Dear Beth,

This is (in all honesty) not the first time I'm hearing of such an issue where a client, or potential client assumes we are in a bank, or that's someone from Consumers First has claimed to represent a bank.

Please understand that this is just as much a cause for concern to us as it is to you.  Consumers First has a "0-Tolerence" policy for "Company Misrepresentation" within its sales and support departments, and our calls are monitored constantly to ensure that no agent or support representative presents false information, or deliberately misinforms any client as to who we are, and what we do.

In this day and age of course, it is becoming more difficult for legitimate agencies to keep a positive reputation when there are in fact many more scam artists out there whom, more often than not, end up making this company and others like it, look like the "bad guys"

Believe me you, we perform our fair-share of "Damage Control" either internally, or even on open forums, such as this one, due to other companies and individuals who are in fact, doing no good.

With regards to your mother's situation, I feel the only way to deal with such an issue is to deal with it one-on-one, as opposed to a public display where only tempers flare, and let's face it, nothing really sees a resolution.

I would therefore invite you to contact me personally on behalf of your mother so I can begin both an internal investigation as to what was said on the telephone at the time the service was either initiated or discussed, and so that we can also discuss and file for a full refund of the service value.

You can reach me at toll-free; 1-888-730-3873, 10AM-5PM EST, Monday thru Friday.  It would be a pleasure to speak with you and hopefully resolve the matter.

Dear "FraudWatcher"

If you read and understood my note posted above, you'd see that I was stating basically that, "in most cases" a POA would [normally] be required.  This is simply due to our adherance to the same Government Regulations that we follow, just as the standard banks and credit unions.

I can certainly understand and respect the fact that you feel angry and some degree of animosity towards a company such as this, and it would certainly be a waste of my time (and yours) to even attempt at making public-online justifications of our goals, and procedures, therefor, I will not.

As my previous note states, and in lieu of what was posted prior to that, this issue deals with an account with us that was in fact cancelled. On any and all cancellations of our services, FULL REFUNDS are indeed issued to the account holder within 30 days. Why the client in questions has waited 45 (reported) days for his/her refund is, at this time, my initial concern.

Best,
T. Marshall

You expect people to give you a POA AFTER you stole their money? That's nothing more than a license to steal even MORE money. How many people do you trick into doing this???

WHAT A FRICKIN SCAM. "Senior preliminary investigator" LOL. Looks like you had to fail a spelling test to get that "job".

Suggest victims close their account immediately, DISPUTE the charges, and contact law enforcement. Judging from this idiot, they will stop at nothing to steal even more of your money.

Dear Sir,

I am one of four senior preliminary investigators out of the central office for Consumers First.  Without any information on the account and/or client in question, it is impossible for me to examine this particular file.

Therefor, (and rather than posting any pertinent infoformation online) I reccomend that you contact me at your nearest convenience at the number provided below.

Please have on-hand the Enrollment number or the telephone number that conicides with the initial account holder's file that we have on file.

This way, I can begin an internal investigation of the account in question and find a solution to the problem directly.

Feel free to contact me at the number provided;

1-888-730-3873 or via email at todd.m@consumersfirst.info

there is always someone available to take your call, or there is a convenient answering service of which you may leave your telephone number and a brief message stating your inquirey and concerns. I suggest asking for me by name.

Please note also that, in rare cases it may be beneficial to provide a POA letter or statement (Power Of Attorney) by fax, or through email. However, in order for us to finalize this matter as quickly and as conveniently as possible for both yourself, and the account holder, contacting me telephone should suffice.

I look forward to speaking with you.

Called mother and they were also aware of partial bank information. They withdrew $298.00 out of her checking account for protection. I was able to reach them and canceled the service. I was told she would receive a refund check in 30-60 days, it's been 45. I have tried to call back for a status and the # keeps ringing. Anyone know if anything can be done?
