I guess they are recycling this phone number again. I do not owe any debt to anyone so there is no reason for a collection agency to call me. They never leave a msg so I have no idea who it is. I have a call block on my phone and since this is an unfamiliar number, my blocker hangs up on it immediately. This caller has been extremely persistent, calling more than once a day everyday and on weekends. With the call blocker preventing them from ringing I really don't care. Call all you want and waste your time, not mine. If it weren't for the list of blocked calls I wouldn't know they existed.

I received a phone call from this number. I do not pick up numbers I do not know. They did not leave a message.

This call is from a collection agency.  I believe they are called United REcovery Services and they are based in Texas.  Collection Agencies are not required to abide by the do not call registry.

They've called me every day in the last week. My situation has not changed. It's depressing. On one occasion I was on the phone with them for over 10 minutes. This uses up minutes.

These people keep calling me and it's super frustrating...I'm also on the do not call list. Do these people not get it? I usually just pick up and hang up so I don't waste my time losing it with them.

They called from 888-733-1235 and  from 800-658-1164 on my cell phone that I thought was listed on the do not call list. I didn't pick up the phone but called it back and it was United Recovery Systems.

8887331235...they called me and I answered... asked for a member of my family who lives in a completely different state and last name... I said it was the wrong number as it was.  I looked up the number and found this website.  I have no debts, have great credit... annoyed they called my house!

Don't trust URS for anything. They are bottom feeders. They use abusive language and will harass you at every turn.

Since January of 2009 they have had 26 lawsuits filed against them. Since August 2008 that number jumps up to 38 lawsuits filed against them. Most of these lawsuits are for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Then in 2004 they were fined $240,000 for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This company breaks the law regardless of what happens, they don't care about our rights.

My advice send a Cease and Desist letter now. And when they violate that sue them. I think its up to $1000 you can get for each violation.

Also folks URS is a Collection Agency and are not subject to the No Call Rules. The can continue to call and it is legal to an extent as long as their not violating the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. Of course if your not the person their calling for then and they refuse to take your number of that persons account, to the point where you get repeat calls day after day, then you can sue for harassment.

I called this number back and after a screaming match, found out they had the wrong person they were looking for.  I was threatened that they would continue to call and told them they were playing with fire!  How do you file a formal complaint against these bottom feeding maggots?  Please advise immediately so I can pursue this!!!

It's definitely United Recovery Service. Some how they even got my internet phone number which to the best of my knowledge isn't given to directory assistance and isn't on any application.  I have another phone number which is my standard number. I just ignore them since I am going down a legal path.  They are persistent, even calling on Sunday.  I do answer on Sundays and let them listen to me singing. The rest of the week it goes to the deep dark VM box that I don't listen to.  They also seem to change the calling number a lot.

DazeCookieHalloweentextures just bugged me too but I did warn them that I am not the one they seek. They offered to put me on a list of "wrong numbers" so they don't bother me again. I said that'd be fine but I am on a no call list and have had repeated phone harassment of this sort in the past and the FCC was great at resolving it. They were quite pleasant to me after I mentioned that.

No Call won't help.  Missouri Atty General advises this is a collection agency and, as such, not subject to the no-call rules.

This is another number that this collection agency is using from Discover Card to collect for a person that doesn't live here. They are rude and call time after time. When you ask to speak to a supervisor they hang up or put you on hold for a long time. We have been doing the Dave Ramsey thing at our church and he addresses how to handle collection agencies even if you are not the person they are trying to get a hold of. I will have to follow his guidlines. He says the 1977 Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires a credit bureau to remove all inaccuracies within 30 days of notification. You have to send certified mail, a letter requesting that they remove the inaccuracy. In the letter copy you credit report and circle the incorrect account number. You can lodge complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and your state's Consumer Affairs Division. Remember that collectors are trained sales people in low-paid positions with high turnover that want to evoke strong emotion. There is also the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to protect us from unfair collectors. If you are being harrassed and you are not the party they are trying to reach you can send a letter by certified mail with return receipt requested by mailing a Cease-and-Desist Letter. But you have to get their address. I will have to do this and report them as they will not listen to us. We have never had a Discover Card and am tired of being harrassed for someone who doesn't live here.

These people call me atleast 3 times a day. If i answer the phone they never answer back. they have called me from quite a few different numbers. and they are calling my cell phone at that..

You can go to www.fcc.org and report them (there's an online form).
They are a total pain in the a$$.

Anyone know how to make this stop?  I refuse to call them. They don't bother to leave a message or send a letter!

They keep calling my cell phone and asking for some guy I dont know, I told them that they got the wrong number but they kept calling, I would change my phone num but I applied for job posting and positions and I stated this num.I will give it another month and then I'll change my number.

Called and asked to verify last four numbers of my Social Security, after which they said they had the wrong person and hung up.

Called the 888 number back and inquired what sort of company they were, spent 3 minutes with somebody obliquely saying they were a 'financial' company before getting transfered to another agent's voice mail.

lots of unsolicited calls in the last week .. different # eacd day .. and this is after I placed all my cell phones on the "Do Not Call Registry"

Called at 14:27 CST, 4 Dec 07. Left no message on answering machine. (I screen all calls.) Left no message.
