Debt Collector
I believed the threats...considering they already called my husbands place of employment. Made arrangements to pay bi weekly. Took money out early, causing bounced check fees. Even continued taking money out after it was to have been paid off already. No debt resolved. Scammed out of a lot of our hard earned money for nothing!

Same story here. Got a call from some woman on Friday morning telling me she was going to serve me papers, but told me I could call 888-555-3831 to resolve the matter before it came to that.  I called the number and spoke to "Mr. Davis".  He said I owed  over $2000 from a payday loan from 2008 .  Said I could pay $500 that day or $600 the following Friday to settle the debt.  He wanted my debit card number!!!  Told him I was at work and couldn't talk to him.  I immediately googled the number and found out it was a scam.  I didn't call back, so "Mr. Davis" called again Monday and left a message asking why I didn't get back to him.  I called back and informed him I knew they were just a bunch of scam artists and if they ever called me again I would call the Attorney General's office, then hung up on him.  He immediately called back and left a message saying he didn't know where I got my information, but I was wrong and he would be sending the "paperwork " through on my case. What a bunch of crap. Don't fall for it!!!

After looking further into this and calling the home owner. I asked him about this Kailee Salerno. He said she works at a collection agency on Ridge Lea RD in Amherst, NY.  They scared my mother into paying a Pay day loan i took out in WA. I payed the Indians who called me (never should have done that) and then this agency called my mother and told her i was going to jail. . so she paid them $1,250 that day on a Pre Paid debit card from wal mart that they instructed her to do. I need to get her money back. She is on disability and she needed that money for her prescriptions. She just wanted to make sure her son wasnt going to jail.  I HATE THESE PEOPLE

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Randmonly every few months I recieve calls from another number refering me to call this number about a complaint that has been filed against me and I am given a reference number to call back with. When I called I spoke to a guy named "David" and asked what the matter was about I was told no info could be given to me until I varified my personal information. I told them that I was told by my attorney not to give out any personal information and ask that any complaints or past debts be sent to my mailing address via certified letter and again he said they could not do that until i varified my personal information and when I would not do so he asked if I was born in 1985 and I wouldn't answer so he said ok your name will be removed from the list and they will serve you with papers to go to court with and then he hung up. I'm hoping they don't call back it's getting a little old. It's always the same voices calling from "different companies". Last time this guy called me he was located in Florida today it was New York.

CHecking account hacked and cleaned out.  I contacted the bank, and told them it was unauthorized and they reversed the charges and returned the money in about 30 hours.  She will need a new account number, and should probably have her phone number changed too.  Good luck and I hope they can return your moms money.  These scammers need to be shut down.

I have received the same call from Brianna Miller, one week apart stating there is a formal complaint from the county where I live.  I took a payday loan about 5 years ago.  Thank you for posting these for those who are not aware of any reason there would be a complaint against them.  I am going to keep track of these calls

I recieved a call yesterday about how i owed a payday loan from 2008 and I took the loan out from the internet and I have never used the internet to get payday loans! The lady left a message saying it was important that I call her back as they needed my signature and that they are persuing the issue with the local county that I lived in so I went to the police this morning and gave them all the information that I had and come to find out that this is a scam DO NOT FALL FOR IT! NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SSN, DOB, BANKING INFO I learned a lesson today and now have to change my account and put a hold on things and have to do all this because someone out there has nothing better to do then harass someone! Its really sad! The lady's name was Breanna Miller and when I called the number back I talked to a Joe Davis and they are requesting that I pay 300$ by friday to take care of this matter! so if you recieve a call you know its a scam also the Police officer told me that a payday loan store will go after you within 90days of not paying for a payday loan and it wont be over the phone so if you are reading this please be ware of the scam!

Got a call from 888-551-3831 with a recorded message telling me that a complaint had been filed against me and to call the filing party at 888-735-1564 and reference a certain case number. Googled the first number, it comes up as a Perkins Restuarant in Wisconsin (wtf?). Found this for the second number. I did use a couple of payday loan services about five years ago but they were all paid off. Got caught in a similar scam about a year ago where they called and I was dumb enough to answer the phone, when I insisted they send me something in writing (which they are legally obligated to do) the guy berated me so badly that I just hung up on him. Then a supervisor called back and left a message saying he wanted to talk about the behavior of his employee, but when I called back he just gave me info about the debt. I was able to look it up on my bank records and prove that it had been paid. LESSON LEARNED. Obviously there are companies that somehow buy payday loan records from many years ago, then call and harass you in the hopes that you'll just be scared into thinking you might not have paid them back and will pay again. DO NOT LET THEM.

I got the same call as everyone above.  They told me I was being sued for a payday loan in 2008, but I haven't used a payday loan since 2006.  He thinks he's pretty slick because he knew my SSN, email address & bank account number.  I calmly asked them to fax me the documentation showing I owed the money.  The guy defensively asked what I wanted to see, so I told him I needed the loan agreement, disbursement date and proof of EFT.

Then he started yelling, so I told him I would be calling the attorney general and I was anxiously awaiting the courier to serve me with a lawsuit.  Guess what?  No fax and no more calls.  Don't let these morons boss you around.

Got a call from "UNKNOWN", so didn't answer. A live person told me she's trying to track me down at my place of employment (I don't have one, I'm a freelancer) or my home so she could serve some papers. She said an action has been filed but I had the opportunity to stop it by calling this number and referencing a case file. It's all crap as this is not how legal actions work AT ALL. Not calling back. I hate that they call my family though.

Google the address I listed above, map it on google and use streetview and you will see that the calls are from a house in the suburbs of Buffalo NY.  They are scammers that will tell you that you owe money you dont.  Dont pay it any attention...either change your phone number if possible (puts an immediate end to the calls) or wait about 2 months and they will disappear as they have for me.
