I received a check from M&T bank with this number on it.  I called the customer service number from their website since I did not trust the number on the check.  The M&T rep confirmed that the check was real and that they were refunding fees.  You can call the 888 number on the check to verify that you are eligable for the refund.

I also received a "Bank Fee Refund" for $148 with the phone number 1-888-764-7518 next to it.  I also bank with M&T.  I have no clue what this is, and I'm afraid to call the number because if it's some kind of scam, then they have my bank info and now my phone number which they can search to find my address etc...

The amount that was deposited was $74.00... hope this helps

I got it too and gave the bank a call; they really are refunding some kind of bank fees. Apparently in February they decided to do it but they just started posting. You can either call the number listed in your transaction history or call their customer service line to verify yours is real.
