Received message IRS is issuing a arrest warrant in 12 hours if i do not call them back

This is a complete scam

I had the same call from the same person about the same time. He told me exactly what you had said in your message. I am calling to report this to the IRS right now. I had also called my accountant and she confirmed that it sounded like a scam.

I received a voice mail today on my land line from#1-888-774-1428 stating he was from the IRS tax audit department,his name was Samuel Thomas and they did an audit on my taxes from 2007 to now and that they found an error on my 2011 & 2012 taxes and I must pay today the amount owed (he also had an Indian accent). I reported this to IRS

They called saying they were the IRS. Threatened to issue an arrest warrant if I did not call back. Had my husband call back and they wanted his name before they would tell us what it was about. We called several times and they hung up on us after the last three times. SCAM!!!

There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.

I'm not Frank but am involved in preparing his taxes.  He called us up to let us know that someone called from this 888 number and said possible jail time if he didn't straighten his taxes around.

Same thing happened to me, scam!

I just received a similar recording.  Said they were the IRS.  Final notification.  I had 12 hours to call back at the 888-774-1428 number or an arrest warrant would be issued.  The last sentence was 'have a blessed day'...  Pretty sure the IRS would not use that as a closing!

Earlier I received a prerecorded message at my work number as described by Mary above.  The message was asking to call back at 888-774-1428.

A few hours later I received a call from overseas number on my home number.  Operator with what appears to be Indian accent, asked for my wife (by name).  When I said she is not here, he asked me to have her call him back at 888-774-1428.  He said "My name is Officer Andrew Williams. My badge number is 7993".  (Yeah, right...) When I asked what this is about, he says:  "She needs to call back as soon as possible or a warrant for her arrest will be issued."  I just hang up.  This scam appears to be spreading fast.

Called, left a pre-recorded voice mail on my work number, but did not ask for me by name, and stated if I did not call back immediately they would issue an arrest warrant.  I called and they said they are the IRS and asked for my name - which I did not give them.  Sounds like a scam to me.
