Got a call from 888-785-3456 Nick stating they needed to get a hold of my wife over a legal matter. I called back and asked who they were, to which the operator responded "BLR" they are a prelitigation firm. Tehy wanted me to verify an address where they could "serve my wife papers" I asked what legal matter it entailed, they wouldnt say. I asked what court they were drawn through, they wouldnt say. The man on the phone was extremely rude, even after several requests, and demands by me to stop calling he said" Why don't you tell your wife to stop trying to shirk her legal repsonsibilities" at such time, I'd had enough. I called him back 7 times and each time i cursed, yelled, and insulted him so bad he asked me to stop calling them! These people are scum!

The phone numbers; 888.785.7719 and 302.738.5719 are legitimate.

If one is unsure, go to; https://www.bankofamerica.com/
Find a phone number and call them to see what's up with any/all BoA accounts from that POV.

As far as I can see, the email and phone numbers are legitimate.

This is FRAUD!!!!  DO NOT believe the posts in the forum...they are fraud too.  Remember, people who fraud are good at it and try to cover all their tracks.  BOA NEVER calls people, they only send letters.  NEVER give them your information.  ONLY call the number on your credit card to discuss account information.

BANK OF AMERICA SUCKS -- FIA is a  subsidiary or a third party contracted by BOA - FIA has access to customers banking information.  FIA or one of their employees uses the infomation to commit fraud - they know 50% of the people dont check their bank statements and don't know not to give personal info over the phone.  Bottom line -

DONT GIVE PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE - ANYONE THAT CALLS ASKING FOR PERSONAL INFO - TELL THEM YOU WILL GO INTO THE BANK AND TAKE CARE OF IT AND HANG UP.  NO LEGIT COMPANY WILL CALL YOU AND ASK FOR PERSONAL INFO OVER THE PHONE - IF THEY ARE CALLING YOU THEY SHOULD ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER AND INFORMATION IS -  How else would think your account is past due if they are not looking at your account information when they call.

IF YOUR PAYMENT IS PAST DUE OR IF NOT PAST DUE SHOULD NOT MATTER.
IF THEY ARE CALLING YOU THEY KNOW YOUR INFORMATION AND HAVE NO REASON TO ASK YOUR FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN PARTIAL INFO LIKE THE LAST 4 DIGITS - ONLY TO VERIFY.WHO THEY ARE TALKING TO

If you are unsure or don't know - go to the SOURCE and VERIFY VERIFY VERIFY - PERIOD

i got a call from someone who claimed to be from BANK OF AMERICA and when i refused to answer any questions or speak to the supervisor, BEFORE he would tell me why he was calling, he  gave me 18887857719 to call to verify that it was a legit call.  yeah right!
so i looked up the BANK OF AMERICA number online and called them.  they had no idea what i was talking about as there were no notations made to my account in their system giving them a reason to contact me.
Furthermore, the rep told me they NEVER have live people make their calls.  its an automated system that will notify you that they are trying to reach you.  if available, you pick an option to speak to someone.  if voicemail, they will leave a contact #.
As a rule, i dont call any number that is GIVEN to me regarding banking.. i always look up customer service number to call.

I received an "unknown number" call. The lady claimed she was from Netbank in connection with FIA Card Services. She asked me to verify my address. I refused to verify. She was the one who called me, why should I release my information over the phone. She told me she had information that I would probably want to hear. I told her to mail me the information. She eventually connected me to her supervisor. I gave him the same response. He gave me this number "888-785-7719" to call back.

When you pick up and there is no one there, say hello loud about 3 times. It is a voice recognition computer and it is common that they do not always hear so good. It will talk and connect you to a person at some point. Here is what I believe, based on what I have read on the internet: All of these numbers belong to Encor, 8887106392, 8887857719, 8887850029, 8888814967. One of the reasons they are calling is they are looking to talk with people that owe money to Citibank.  A delinquent Home Depot credit card could be one of the reasons they call. I recommend that we call them as often as possible. Send the faxes. Build a dialer for the internet with the properties options set to redial 20x, 3 seconds redial time and 5 minutes idle time. Click Dial and let the computer keep them too busy to call anyone.  When they call me and I ask them not call, that does not seem to work. Some  numbers the company calls from will not show on your ID and when you call the number back, it is a computer set up for people like me. Try this - say "He/She is not here at the moment.  Would you like to leave a message?" and they will give you a number to call back that works. You can also call and push buttons on your phone and sometimes get menus. Sometimes that gets you to more information about your callers.  I like to let my 2-year-old grandson call and talk to them!

It is nice to know that our current goverment is making the banks richer by letting them change the interest rates at their leisure to make more money on the working white collar people..... and now that they have raised the interest rates and lowered the availability to use your credit cards it alos changes the FICO score from 50 to 100 points...... you got who you voted for........tuck your tail in you have 4 more years....... and just think in Feb 2010 they are going to stick it to you again as if you are one day late they can charge up to 25% on your credit card bill........

And yes these people will harass you until you turn red........ but make sure each time they call take the name and time they called due to they have to time stamp each call they make for banking records....they will only give first name and the lettered ext # - so each time they call back make them read the previous journal to make sure they are doing their job....cause they get a certain percent of what they collect as a bonus.

Jacob claiming to be from FIA Card Services 888-785-7719 says they were calling for _______(my father) who wasn't home.  He asked my mother what her name was.  He left a message (Jacob from FIA Card Services 888-785-7719) asking for my father to call him.  My father called back.  Jacob asked for the home address.  My father gave it.  Then he said they have the wrong birthdate on file, what is his correct birthdate?  My dad said they should have it on file.  Then he asked for my father's Social Security number, my father said he wasn't going to give that.  Then he asked for the last four digits on the credit card.  My father simply hung up.

The credit card they applied for was from Bank of Hawaii/Hawaiian Airlines Visa signature card.

BE AWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS!   I will be reporting this to Bank of Hawaii tomorrow!

I just got a call from Fin Verify, a supposed branch of Bank of America.  They said I had suspicious activity on my account and were asking all my personal info. I asked to call them back and they gave me 888 785 7719.  When answered they knew my name before I told them. I was not comfortable releasing my info, called Bank of America, and they said they had no record of this number.

Maybe the debt collector sold the number to a phisher?

Who can I report this to.

Caller ID showed "Out of Area" and "Unknown number." Female claimed to be from FIA Bank of America. She asked for me by name, then requested that I provided my birthdate and other personal information so that she could be sure that I was who I claimed to be. I told her that I would do that after she established that she was who she claimed to be. She said, "Sir, I assure you that I am who I claim to be," and I replied, "I am, too." Vicious catch-22. She provided 888-785-7719 as a number that I could call back. Instead I searched for it online and found this forum.

I decided to contact Bank of America at their customer service number (800-552-7302) rather than mess around with the number that she provided.

(No, I'm not really the author, Joseph Heller.)

I used to work for a bank and I dont know if this is still common practice, but usually with credit card big banks/credit union use a 3rd party company to handle collections or if you are past due with your account. Being a third party means that this companies do not have the full information on you nor access to a more comprehensive database like a teller would have in a branch due to privacy laws. But it doesnt mean that they have to be rude, report them to your financial institution via letter reporting the particular of the incident so that they too are aware of what is going on. Hope this helps.

I had someone from FIA something or other call this morning. Got me out of bed, Her name was Michelle. She rambled off so fast I couldn't hardly understand what the **** she was saying. I had to play the message eleven times before I got the correct number with an ext.# of ??N40S?? I don't even know if that was correct. I then went online to see if I could find the #,which came up as FIA service, a debt collection service. I never called back because I know are not behind on our bill to BOA. These people need to get a life & if we were behind we would of directly called BOA to discuss.  And also learn to talk on the phone more slowly if you want people to call you. Get a life.

I also got a call from this number.  The lady told me my account was in collections, and tried to get me to authorize a $2,000 pay-by-phone withdrawal from my checking account.  Since I had made a payment just two days prior, I was suspicious.

"FIA Card Services" IS listed on Bank of America's (BOA) statements.  They have a website at www.ibsnetaccess.com, with a "Contact Us" link at the bottom, which does NOT show 888-785-7719 as one of their numbers.  I called BOA at 800-789-6685 (the # on the credit card statement), and although the customer service person would neither confirm or deny anything about 888-785-7719, she did confirm that I had made a payment recently, that my account was up to date, and that there was no reason for "collections" to call me.

Here is a webpage concerning complaints about FIA:  http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/identity-theft/boa-fia-cardservices.html

The BOA person also confirmed that you should NEVER give out or confirm information to someone who calls you.  Use the number on your statement or card ONLY, and CALL THEM.

As for the comments by 'GET.a.CLUE' (below), you are obviously not representing a legitimate organization, as no professional would refer to customers as "U GUYS", or use terms such as "EXTENSION GOD" or the banal LOL netspeak slang term.

To my fellow "harass-ees" - Perhaps you have heard or read the phrase "This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose."  Take that seriously.  Don't give out any information that would enable this or any other company to harass you.

I suggest we all call BOA (at one of their legitimate numbers) and complain (nicely - let's take the higher ground here) about our treatment by FIA.  I have found the BOA people to be quite pleasant and helpful.  Perhaps enough griping and grousing about FIA will influence them to move their debt collection either in-house or to a more courteous and professional organization.

Yea right Unknown. You have a lot of nerve posting here, trying to get people to pay with a check online. Then they  would be giving you guys full access to their account and all you would have to do is post a check whenever you wanted to. That would be really stupid. So don't ever pay someone online from your checking account unless you initiated the call and know exactly who they are. I did it once and wound up with hundreds of dollars taken out of my account from automatic checks that I didn't even write! DON'T DO IT!!

I keep getting calls from FIA Card Services, or whatever they call themselves, and now I'm getting e-mails from them, claiming to be Bank of America.  I make my payments promptly, and always pay more than the minimum.  It's harassment, pure and simple.  Even if they are legitimate, the constant harassment, rudeness, and nastiness is uncalled-for, especially if you've already spoken with one of their representatives.

OH, BTW, OUR EXTENSIONS ARE ALPHA-NUMERIC..WHAT EXTENSION GOD SAID THEY HAD TO BE ALL NUMERIC? AND THE COLLECTION AGENCY HAS DIFFERENT PRACTICES THAN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT, SO IF WE ASK FOR THE ENTIRE SS#, ITS SO THAT WE CAN PULL UP YOUR ACCT, NOT FOR VERIFICATION. AND LASTLY, CREDITORS DO SEND LETTERS, EMAILS AND TEXT MESSAGES NOTIFYING YOU OF A DELINQUENT STATUS. IF YOU FAIL TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION, YOU ARE SENT TO COLLECTIONS, WE SEND LETTERS AS WELL, BUT ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO SO. WE CAN CALL YOUR HOME, YOUR CELL PHONE, YOUR JOB, AND ANY OTHER NUMBER WE CAN FIND THAT IS VALID, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER U PROVIDED IT TO UR CREDITOR OR NOT. AND THE FDCPA CONSIDERS REPEAT PHONE CALLS HARASSMENT ONLY IF CONTACT HAS BEEN MADE WITH THE DEBTOR. IF YOU DONT ANSWER THE PHONE, WE CAN CALL U ALL DAY LONG.

THIS IS A VALID NUMBER FOR BOA. WHAT GOOD WHAT IT DO FOR US TO CALL U GUYS TRYING TO GET UR PERSONAL INFORMATION WHEN U'RE ALREADY BEHIND ON YOUR BILLS? LOL, WE CAN GET UR PHONE NUMBERS BY LOOKING YOU UP, SORTA LIKE THE WHITE PAGES. AND IF WE CONTINUE TO CONTACT U, ITS BECAUSE THE ACCT IS STILL PAST DUE. YOUR ACCOUNT WILL STAY IN OUR SYSTEM UNTIL YOU MAKE A PAYMENT TO BRING YOUR ACCOUNT CURRENT. AND IF YOU STILL DOUBT THE VALIDITY OF OUR COMPANY, CHECK THE BACK OF YOUR STATEMENT, IT CLEARLY SAYS 'FIA CARD SERVICES'ON THE BACK.

While waiting at a train station for someone to pick me up for a ride to my church, I received a call this Sunday morning (9:15 AM Eastern) from someone who claimed to be from FIA Card Services (the company that provides credit cards to Bank of America). This person asked me for my full 9-digit Social Security Number, but since I was at a public place (a train station to be exact), I told the person I could not provide such information at that moment and asked him for a call-back phone number. The person gave me 1-888-785-7719, extension O40C. The funny thing is, aren't extension numbers supposed to be only numeric digits (0-9)? So after leaving church and arrivign back home, I called a verified BofA number, contacted customer service, and told a representative about this strange call that requested me the full SS#; she told me that BofA, per some policy, never asks for a full SS#, it only asks for the last four digits of the SS# for verification purposes only. I gave her the phone # I was given, she called the # herself, then called me back saying that the # appeared to be a valid BofA number. Well, I haven't called back the #, let's see if that person calls me back again.
