SOMEONE  CALLS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY FROM THIS NO.

None. Nada. Never leaves a message. Butt they call several times a day!

AUTISM FOUNDATION.  CALL THE NUMBER BACK, PRESS 1 AND THEN 3.  YOU CAN ENTER YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO BE REMOVED FROM THEIR LIST.

Calls everyday and cannot call number back as it simply rings. URGH!

   Kathleen Seidel's weblog is the best, most comprehensive research and documentation I've EVER SEEN on a specific telemarketing organization and "charitable" groups use of  "robo-calling" campaigns!
  And - sort of  "hidden" down at reply #97 - is an excellent and effective email from "sara" to the "master telemarketer and robo-caller" organization behind a lot of these campaigns - InfoCision Management Corporation.

This gives a bad rap to genuine autism groups like the Autism Society of America.

This number is being "spoofed" by Complete Credit Solutions, a Debt Collector from Texas, attempting to gather information to create an account with someone.

Most fun of all is to answer advising them they contacted the local sherifs dept or the county funny farm (psychiatric hospital)

I followed Tammy's instructions and called the # and entered my # to be removed.

Remove my phone number from your records.  I do not appreciate these calls.

I get a call from this number every day (at least once a day, sometimes more) and everytime I answer, the caller hangs up without saying a word.

It is a collection agency. Here's the message left:

A message for **** ****.
If you are not **** ****, please hang up or disconnect.
By continuing to listen to this message, you acknowledge you are **** **** (no I don't....it's MY phone j***off).
This message contains personal and private information, so you should listen to it in private.
There will now be a 3 second pause (incredibly generous of you) in this message to give you an opportunity to ensure your privacy for the remainder of this message.
This is Mary Jones (wow, how generic), a debt collector from Nationwide credit.

Called this morning at 8:30!!! Didn't answer, of course, and of course, no message left. I'm surprised that someone said it came from a collection agency. Since 888-790-2772 and 888-790-2773 are all from this wretched so-called autism group--which of course is giving a bad name to any legitimate autism group--I'm sure that 2771 also belongs in their repertoire of numbers that they use.

I'll block it--and all the subsequent numbers they'll use. But it's sad that it comes to this.

Slug collection company Nationwide Credit leaving an illegal voicemail on my answering machine for someone who does not live here.

I contacted Autism Speaks as 'Jack' suggested but received this reply:

Call 888-790-2771 press "1" to get more information then press  "3" to remove your number from the call list.  After pressing "1" you will not be prompted to press "3" but do it anyway.  Hopefully they will stop calling.....

Same as others. This campaign went on last year - I don't remember when they let up but it seemed like months.

If you get a call-- let the National Autism Speaks Headquarters  know the vendor isn't welcome.

Phone rang twice and I picked up and said "Hello" - no response. Repeated greeting about 4 more times-still nothing. Just dead silence with a couple of clicks.

If this is the Autism folks they should listen up and develop another source of engaging people. This does no good for a worthy cause. It simply alienates people and makes them shake their heads in disgust.

Calling this number produces a "number not in service" message.

No, I don't think it is a worthy cause. This is series of robo-calls from another series of robo-numbers, all, as best I can tell from the posts below, having to do with this so-called "autism" organization. This is not the way to raise money for a good cause, bombarding people with phone calls.

Most importantly, see the posts for the following numbers: 888-325-8583 and 888-790-2773 and 888-330-4072--and brace yourself for more variations. As "Tim" on the 888-325-8583 post put it:

My system blocked a call from 888-330-4072 today.  Yesterday it was 888-790-2773 as was reported by "Joe", above.  Last year this Autism foundation ran a campaign that rotated through a list of 12 numbers, then, to my horror, used the same numbers for ANOTHER 12 days.  They are using a different block of numbers this year.

My new voipo.com phone service (not spammin', it just works right!) lets me block many hundreds of numbers if need be, but one can also block an entire area code, like 888*.  Now i check my web-based call log once at night to see how many crap calls failed to interrupt me.  Today it was 4.  I now have 89 blocked numbers on my list going back to last April (23 of them are from Portfolio Recovery).  The list exceeds the blocking capacity of most home systems (i've tried them all).
