I cancelled my renewal with the magazine company but they still renewed, I went through the whole hassle and have finally canceled the first part but they are still charging the additional fees. I have made a dispute with my credit card to get it stopped. I don't want to close my card so I'm hoping my credit card company can stop it.

You DO NOT need to close your account
| sndembin 2012-08-16 15:15:33 Telemarketer |
This number is supposedly an ID protection company. A telemarketer from a separate company signs you up for this service. You MUST insist you didn't agree to pay it. The service agent will tell you it is nonrefundable but on further insistence will refund you. Problem is they recharge you next month as well as another company. Only solution is to close your card.

Just stopped two numbers from accessing my account - 8887926254 & 8667865107. Both numbers came up disconnected until I placed a 1 before the other numbers. Even though you tell the magazine company all you want is the magazines they give the accounts to the ID theft company and a discount club.

hey, I need some help with this. I'm being hit by two different numbers, both of which are taking money from me, and I thought it was something I had agreed too. After that first month I tried to cancel the subscription, I was told I couldn't until August, innocent me (i'm 21) thought nothing was wrong with it.
thing is, is there a way I can stop them from draining my money without loosing my account? it's the only one I have.

ya they got me to iv called and canceled it last month and i guess there still taken money off my card great!!!!!

Yep.they got me too. Everything you guys are reporting is the same bullcrap I got. And I fell for it because I had just underwent surgery and was under the influence of hydrocodone. I called them REPEATLY and told them to cancel my account. I told them straight up that I wanted my money back and that they could keep whatever crap they were offering. All I wanted them to do was not touch my card ever again. But they did. They hit it in September. They tried in October but I had emptied the card. But they got me this month for 19.99. Guess what? They won't get me next month or ever again because I had the card killed and a new one issued. I believe the company goes by UBS and it's based in Virginia. That's what I got from my debit card company. Hope this helps anybody. Bottom line: They are NOT going to stop hitting your card. The best thing you can do is kill the card and get a new one if it's just a debit card. Now if it's linked to your bank account you've got a bigger problem there.

I'm currently having the same issue, and just filed a claim with my bank, if they can't fix this then I'll have to change my account as well. I thought i had canceled it, and I too got this charge hopefully i won't have to change my account.

I received the same call on my cell phone. I did not know the number so I answered and talked to a woman on the other end who told me that I was in a contest for a car, and a large sum of money, like previous people have stated. I had issues hearing her because she talked fast and there was a fan by my ear. They then signed me up for a magazine subscription (that is now fully paid for), and I hoped that I was done with the company. Now, I'm noticing some charges showing up on my debit card account activity that I didn't notice before. They stem from this number so I googled it and this came up first. It's good to know that I wasn't alone in receiving the call or accepting the charges. I guess, if it worked with others, I'll call to cancel whatever "service" I'm being charged for. If I can't I guess I will have to change my account.

I also was "persuaded" to subscribe to the magazine service and apparently agreed to the two other benefits (that are trials that charge you) including the one mentioned here. Does anyone know if these are the only ones? Because I canceled both and if that's all I'm not changing my account. But if there are more to come, I'm closing the account. Help would be appreciated!

update: call the number back to customer serivce and cancel your account with them. apparently, my husband agreed to a telemarketer call and signed up for some things. the lady spoke so fast (that's their job to do so) and he didn't catch it all. they were nice to me and cancelled right away.

I got a charge of 19.99 and I don't know what it is. I did get an unvailabile number during my tutoring session. They offered me a gift for a diamond watch, a chance to win a Ford Mustang, and $25,000 drawing...Is there any other way that I can get the money back? Or do I really have to change another bank account?
Im thinking now switching to Huntington to Chase Bank....cause I own a VISA card

I received a charge for $19.99 last week on my card. I called the number on my bank statement to cancel. I didn't have any problems cancelling the "service", the operator even gave me a confirmation number. I'm still waiting to see if the money will be refunded to my account. This comes after a situation I had with a company called the International Marketing Association in which I received a call stating that because I owned a Visa card, I was entered into a contest in which the prize was a great deal of money (like $25,000 or something like that). Then the conversation turned to me receiving a free gold or diamond watch and later to me ordering a magazine subscription. Along with the magazine subscription, I apparently agreed to subscribe to another company called United Benefits, where you get coupons and discounts, or something like that. I think this company was probably another program I "agreed" to subscribe to. United ID is a program that helps individuals who have been the victims of identity theft. I hope this helps.

look!!! Bank of America and some other companies have gotten people's bank account information stolen through hackers. This was on the news, you should know that. These hackers are making up businesses and charging you!!! My girlfriend went through this and i barely fixed it today. please read!!!
Dude, cancel your bank account. That is the only way. My girlfriend has this same charge and it made her overdraft sooo many times. they don't stop charging and I called customer service and they were all belligerent and unable to help me. They hung up on me and i called back but it seems that it's just one office so everyone in the office knows that you called back and they keep on hanging up on you. . . .
Sadly there's no way to get out of it, really there isn't. other than cancelling your account. honestly Wells Fargo was the only bank that i feel is truly safe and i haven't gotten any weird charges. . .
You be your own judge.
