This is an automated way of stealing your information.  When you call it's a  crappy recording asking you for you account #, pin #, exp and all other details.  They are just using this as a way to steal credit card information.

I got similar messages:

888-799-2940 Citi Prepaid pkvcxk@mess
888-432-3947 Mariott Employee F.C.U. qntboq@mefcu

ECOUNT CITI PREPAID HAS SUSPENDED YOUR 480156XXXXXXXXX DEBIR-CARD. CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY AT 8887992940"

Both were scams. Thanks for this post I never spoke to anyone. I will be reporting this as well.

I got the exact same message, word for word, number for number, as Addie and Special K on 05/21/2009.  Mine came from jeezrc@messaging.sprintpcs.com     I texted back asking who they were, etc.  Of course, I got no response.  The phone number apparently previously belonged to a fishing boat captain's business.  Google the number and you'll see.  Pure scam and pure scum.

got the same message and I called and got someone, couldn't understand them and then I called back later on and there couldn't get through. I don't give out my cell phone and I too got that darn text message. I swear, these people have a lot of nerve, I hope they get caught.

i recvd the same message from tfplsz@messaging.sprintpcs.com " ECOUNT CITI PREPAID HAS SUSPENDED YOUR 480156XXXXXXXXX DEBIR-CARD. CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY AT 8887992940" - when I called back the message states that your party can not be reached at this time. I will report this to my financial institution, & my cell phone carrier.

I received a text message @ 5:31 PM Eastern Standard Time from xwxrbe@messaging.sprintpcs ECOUNT CITI PREPAID HAS SUSPENDED YOUR 480156XXXXXXXXX DEBIR-CARD. CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY AT 8887992940.
This is not my card number! I called the number back and it asked me for my 16 digit debit card number. I hung up immediately. I looked on line and found that this is a scam and should be reported to your financial institution and the FBI. Since these crimes are usually generated from overseas and are untraceable no resolution may occur but at least it's reported.

Same. I got a text from gizuo@messaging.sprintpcs.com about the suspension of a debit card that I don't have. On the one hand I was concerned about identity theft but it seems that many people are getting these same messages. I'm not sure what the purpose of this would be.
