yep....same old, same old...why these criminals are not in prison by now is anyone's guess? - i think they operate out of Canada which i guess is part of the problem of prosecuting them in the US.

But cannot the phone companies block their incoming phone service?

Why does the government not demand, or the phone companies voluntarily block or cancel the phone service of these blatant criminals?

I don't get it?

Now they are trying to do a roofing repair scam.

Why are these criminals not arrested and thrown in jail is beyond me.

This was a number to call from a fax I received to be removed from their calling list. The company said that their name was Princeton Who's Who. I checked their website and it looks like a scam to get your money. Don't call or give them any of your information that they are requesting!

Got a fax from 617-249-0928 regarding "Oxford Who's Who of Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs." To be removed from this list you are to call 888-833-1296. This didn't sound right as Oxford's list originates in England. 617 is a Massachuette's area code. 617-249-0928 is a fax number for Summitmortgage.com. Looks like they are trying to compile a list of people to do business with. This isn't honest or have integrity or is it ethical.

I have (once again) started receiving anonymous calls during the middle of the night and all day on both of my phone lines which are connected to a fax line. Finally, today, a fax was sent with information on it. When I called and spoke to the person on the other end, he denied any responsibility for the calls and claimed that he no longer owns the business for which the fax was sent for advertisement purposes! He was obviously lying and the only positive response he gave to me was that he was going to remove both of my numbers from "the list".

The phone number from the fax I received is 888-833-1296.Obviously, when I called this number, I receive an automated message regarding how to be removed for future contacts. Had I not received the  fax they sent I would never have found out who is behind the advertising for which the advertisement was sent. When I contacted the company for which the advertisement was faxed, the man who I spoke to refused to give me any information, except that he CLAIMS he no longer owns the business as of six months ago, no longer does the advertising for whomever is still sending out the faxes and wouldn't even give me his name. His company is All-Pro Power Washing and that number is 516 513-4826. I'm sure it is he who is doing the calling. And I bet that they are still in business and still operating. How can I report them to the BBB, which I told him I was going to do as soon as I was able to locate the information on his company.

Even though it is illegal to send out faxes (to businesses) without a previous business relationship, "companies" do it all the time and the fcc does nothing about it. Ever. The do not call list seems to work pretty well (it should work for business, but not enough people have been paid off yet), but until they do something to stop spoofing, there is no reason for these scumbags to follow the laws.

Actually, that last comma is called serial or Oxford comma, and it's perfectly acceptable. Using such a comma avoids confusion by showing that the last two items in the series are not necessarily related.

File complaints with the FCC for each junk fax you get.  If they have no reverse ID, you know they are frauds.

Actually it's not incorrect to have an "Oxford Comma" in a list of three or more items.  The usage varies according to various style guides.  This ain't a clear no-no.

"We received several faxes per day..."  Why do you think you receive several a day?

Well, maybe because you call them to be removed from their listssssss.  (The multiple sssss's are intentional...because you're being added to MULTIPLE LISTSSSSSSS.)

It's like responding to a spam email and asking to be taken off their list.  Not EVER going to happen, and you've only confirmed there's a live sucka at the other end of your fax number.

Sorry to be so blunt.

Last comma doesn't really have to be omitted to be grammatically correct. ;)  It?s correct with or without it.

This spammer is also known as Jennifer Rivera and Jennifer Richards. These idiotic "Whos Who" lists are nothing more than a scam. Fill out their form with FAKE info and send it back to them by using a fax machine at Kinkos or your local corner store. Don't make a special trip, just do it whenever you're there. The spammer has been using the same fax number in our area for about a year. The number is 905-248-5158. The cost of sending a realistic FAKE fax to them is peanuts and will cause them to waste their time checking up on your FAKE info.

We received several faxes per day from up and coming companies soliciting business.  All you have to do is call their 800 #s or return fax to be removed.  However, can someone tell me how to get off these lists of unwanted solicitations permanently?  Please help as this nonsense wastes lots of time, ink and paper.

Thank you

I am new to this site so please forgive me if the following is redundant from previous posts.  Recently, I ran onto

http://www.junkfax.org/fax/misc/investigation_tools.htm

There are a bunch of very helpful tools, links, ideas, companies, suggestions, etc. that I have found to be very helpful in many aspects of doing business day-to-day.  You'll have to highlight, copy and paste the address but it might be worth a look.

Today 4/14/09, I received a an invitation to be included in the 2009/2010 Edition of Princeton Who's Who of Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs. (Of course the last comma should have been omitted. Perhaps a clue about the level of professionalism of those involved.)  The invitation was from Jennifer Preston and her # is 609-939-0963.  The removal number is different than most of those listed on this site.  Evidence that a gal on the move has to keep steppin and fetchin.  It is 888-833-1296.
