I have received a call from this number. I answered and there was a guy on the other end, asking me if I was "Jose" and speak "Spanish". I said "no" to his questions and then he hanged up. What a annoying call! Huh!  I've decided not to answer any unknown calls but I wish if it would stop.

To update: Office Depot Confirms it is one of their departments, but claims they cannot get them to stop calling. Customer Support says I should call the number back and ask them to stop calling.
However, they hang up every call, so how am I supposed to do that exactly?

I have been getting these same calls for about 10 days. The first one I answered, it was a lady sounding like she didn't speak great english asking me about Office Supplies for Office Depot.
I told the woman I was not a business, this was a cellphone, and to take my number off her list. Then I started getting the calls again, and when I answered to request they stop calling, they hung up. Now they call me every hour during the day. I usually hit ignore, but they keep calling.
Calling the number back gets an Office depot voice mailbox.

The company that has been calling from this area code is a third party contractor that Sprint is using to get people to start a new plan. The reason why we can't call them back is because they are located in MEXCIO, either in MONTEREY OR GUANAJUATO. Just wanted to pass the word, just say no!!!!!

They've been calling me and my husband for a while from this number and I usually get like 3 missed calls from them everyday. It's really annoying!!! Today, for the first time, I answered and it was a lady talking to me in Spanish; she said it was from Nextel/Sprint and she asked me if I was happy with my service and then she offered me unlimited weekends and she kept repeating herself about the unlimited weekends; I kept on telling I already had unlim. weekends and that I didn't want to change my plan but she kept on talking and answering back to me like I was saying Yes to everything she offered me. She even said "Ok! I will give you your confirmation number". It seemed to me like she was just talking and talking and repeating herself so as to gain time while she or them were doing something...stealing a call from your cellphone for example? They called my husband too and they asked him for his secret question answer, (the question they ask you as a hint for when you forget your account password at Nextel.com, where by coincidence most people have their credit card numbers saved for faster online payments) I Know they don't have to ask you for the answer to this question because it is private and if it's really nextel that is calling you they shouldn't ask you for anything else other than your phone number and maybe the last 4 of your social. I hung up on the lady because she kept on talking and not making sense to me and I kept on telling her I didn't want anything and she acted like I was saying yes so I was just scared that she will charge me for something I didn't agree to; I called nextel CS right away and the operator told me they didn't have any record of that number as theirs and she assured me that no changes were made to my account. She also told me she would block solicitor numbers from my phone and if they called back to not answer the phone. I think people at this number are just trying to get info from people like credit cards probably by offering you something, like a phone upgrade or a change in your plan and then when they ask you for your credit card number they steal it. So careful people!!!!

Hey i feel you, i'm about to switch to Verizon i never had a problem with them before, i'm with Nextel right now and that number just called me and hung up on me, it pissed me off

3 calls already in the last couple of days: the 1st one ask me if I spoke Spanish and said yes, then SHE rambled on and I cut her off with the "I'm not interested" line and I hung up.  2nd call I didn't answer, got no message, today 3rd call picked up after a few rings, no person, no message.  I AM on the Do Not Call list (.gov).

   I work for sprint and they dont really care if you cancel you contract. They try to act like they care to make the customer feel like they have the power. I am not trying to be rude in anyway but the company is not really losing enough money to make a dent in their profits. This is what I hate about mojor corporations today.

A GOOD WAY TO STOP THE CALLS IS TO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE IF YOU SEE THE NUBER IN THE CALLER ID. I got the call last fri 5/18 and did not answer because I take note to not answer calls I do not recognize (that is what voicemail is for) and they havent called since.

I get the same call up to 3x a day. I tried calling the number back and its either out of service or I can't call because its out my calling area. WHATEVER!!!!! Hopefully these stupid BI****S will stop calling.

also getting them calling on daily basis and i have verizon. i have been reporting them on the Donotcall list, where you fill out a complaint.  i do it on daily basis and have no idea if it will help or not but worth a try.

I have called Verizon, Sprint, and MCI, trying to find out what the billing telephone number is for the company that owns this Toll Free.  If anyone has any resources as to figure out who may own this, we can start calling their front desk, and annoying them.

I'm reciving call from this numer every day.

I NEVER ANSWER BUT LAST CALL FROM 888-868-3983 5-19-2007,WHEN I TRY TO CALL BACK, IS NOT IN SERVICE OR CAN NOT BE REACH FROM MY CALLING AREA.

SAME DEAL. I ANSWER THE PHONE -- NOBODY HOME. CALL THE NUMBER BACK AND AM TOLD IT IS NOT A WORKING NUMBER OR THAT IT CANNOT BE REACHED FROM MY AREA.
THEN ANOTHER VOICE COMES ON AND THANKS ME FOR USING "WORLDCOM -- WORLDCOM." A THIRD VOICES STATES: "L A ONE --  M D D."

These people have been calling me speaking in spanish. I dont speak spanish. the first time they called i told them that they have the wrong #. they've continue to call. last night i picked up and the lady said she was from "sprint pcs with nextel". i knew it was a scam b/c she called asking for my husband.

Today being 05/14/2007 my mom called me freaking out that she just won a cell phone but that she knew right away that no things are 'free'. She was freaking out because my mom and myself have the same name and they knew a lot about her. I then Checked the internet with the number she says was on the caller ID and here I find exactly what I needed. My mom has Sprint as well because of me and when she kept telling the agent that she needed to call her daughter (me) to verify that it was ok to get another phone, the customer service rep said, "why do you need to call your daughter, you can make your own decisions can't you?" it was as if though my mom was being harrased. I hate all telemarketers as well. I have a contract with T-Mobile, another company that won't put a stop to another annoying telemarketer with phone number 209-398-8989, another spanish speaking scam, "YOU JUST WON". Yeah right, I just lost my airtime. Now I know that Sprint does not care about it's customers if they provide personal information to third party companies. I hope you all can find solutions to this problem and maybe can share what you know.  Thanks!

Same deal they call a hang up and when I call back to see whos calling it reports out of service or can be reached from my area code Iam also a nextel/sprint customer.

Same deal as everyone else.  They call me just about everyday and hang up when I answer.

I get these calls all of the time and the ting that is differnt form the rest is that I don't have Sprint/Nextel I have MetroPCS and they don't have call blocking crap. This is Stupid!

I get those calls about every month for 2-4 days in a row.  I think its Nextel reminding me to pay my bill (had a bit of a payment problem a year ago).  Since then I still get those calls. Here's what happened when I called to get it fixed just minutes ago.

I called Nextel customer support.  I explained to the lady my situation. She them told me that SPRINT is calling me and to talk to them.  I reminded her she is part of the sprint network being under sprint.  She raised her voice in telling me she works for NEXTEL.  Fair enough, I had her put me on the telemarketing block so I wont get anything junk mail/calls.  So, being the guy I am, after hanging up with her, I called Sprint(800-SPRINT1). It then routed me BACK to the Nextel menu and I was at square one.

If I didn't hate Cingular and Verizon as much as I do, I would switch.  I just like my nextel phone that much.

lady called me speaking Spanish so I told her I didn't speak Spanish and that I was not interested in what she was calling me about and to remove my number from her list so they would stop calling me.  i have rec'd a total of three calls from them.

Im a cop, and at work myself and other officers use our nextel 2-way as means of providing quick confidential information to eachother during work.  This is a safe and common practice officers use to keep info off the public air (everyone has scanners).  Since Nextel and Sprint have merged, we all have been getting these annoying calls from the 888-862-3983 during work.  I've even received calls from this number while handling serious emergencies.  I wish it would stop.  I know about 60 officers who are pulling out of Nextel as soon as their contract is up and I'm one of them...

I've been receiving at least three calls from this number. This all started about 2 days ago and it really is a pain in the rear when they call. I've called Sprint before researching the number and the rep said "It could be an automatic dialer, it will go away eventually."

OMG, these people are a major pain in the seat of your pants... same situation above, I'm getting bombarded about 8 times a day. When I called Sprint/Nextel, they said they'd put me on the do not call list, give it 4-8 weeks to go thru?? What I want off your call list right now! I do nursing, and don't have time to answer the phone, not knowing if it's a Doc or not, as I don't always have time to check the caller ID. I told them when my contract is up, I'm done with this crap. She put me thru to their "CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT" to block the number, however after 45 minutes on hold, I gave up. Just what they wanted me to do.

Oh well, lesson learned!!

This is ridiculous! Just Today we have had 3 calls so far.  They sit there and then hang up.  I can't believe that they are "soliciting" business in this fashion.  We will cancel our contract with Sprint as well if this continues.

I get 3 or 5 times a day calls from this number.
