These folks have been calling my 91-year-old mother for weeks. They say she has their device and her one-year trial period is up. They say she needs to pay them money and they are turning her over to their collections department. My mother was confused, because she never received the Life Alert device and doesn't want it.
So I called them today and told them she doesn't have it and doesn't want it. The operator then said, "Well, we're having a promotion right now." To which I replied, "If this is a promotion, why are you threatening to turn her over to a collection agency?!" I asked to speak to a supervisor. All this time, a man was talking over the shoulder of the operator ... I guess he was telling her how to handle my objections and concerns. She wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor, but she offered to take my mother's phone number off their call list.
I told her my mother's number is already on the Federal Do Not Call List. They still said they needed her number to take her off their list. I think I'll report them to the FCC, because they are clearly violating the law AND they are pestering seniors to get money from them!
