I did not receive a call but did receive a notice in the mail.  I Googled the name and the number and got nothing viable back.  My guess is that it is a scam of some sort.

Received mail that said PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL with no return address. I calls itself a Debt Mediation Notification with no debtor name on it, just a case number and an approximate Current Debt.

Received this official looking mailer 2010 Statement Enclosed from the county I live in indicating I have not responded to previous attempts of notification of eligibility.  There is no company name, no return address, but it gives a program number.  I did not call and do not plan to call.  At the very bottom is states this is an estimate only regarding debt; this service has not been approved or endorsed by any government agency and IS NOT BEING MADE BY AN AGENCY OF THE GOVERNMENT.

Debt Collector
I also got a letter asking me to call this number, looking very official even appeared to have come from the county I live in.  And yes I am in debt, but intend to pay it off the old fashioned way...probably never!  However as a law enforcement officer I hope no one falls for any of this stuff.  If you want to consolidate your credit card bills etc.  See someone in person, you NEVER know who you are talking to on the phone, most times it is a scam and after all is said and done Law Enforcement can't really help you, so don"t give an personal info over the phone or on line it will be out there for the taking.  I didn't call and don't intend to call.  Pay your bills don"t pay your bills but REALLY?  they're gonna forgive up to half of what you owe?? If it sounds to good to be true IT IS!!!!

Target raised my credit card apr by 25%. I stopped paying completely and went through the collection calls. They stopped. Now I'm getting mail to settle pennies on the dollar. Well Target got their money back by thier insurance. Any debt settlements is not going towards Target but the collection agencies. By settling, this does not make your bad credit go away so why bother?

888-888-5982 must be a scam, I got the so called Form 1045-DC from them and all they list is their telephone number. There is no address or anything else, if you call them who knows what they are trying to do, or what kind of personal information are they going to ask for. Be smart DO NOT CALL 888-888-5982. If anybody needs debt relief go to a well known, well established, organization ask around and verify.

Received 2nd notice from a company called 'Credit Street' with no return address with this number on the brochure, with an official looking Debt record number and Debit Mediation Notification Form 1045-DC on it.  However, the amount of the estimated current credit card debt is phenomenal.  I hope I never owe that much myself.  Am not going to pursue but will give to police if another one comes in the mail.  I am going to look up the validity of the Form 1045-DC to see if such a form even exists.

Its a debt consolidation service, from what I can tell.  I just got a notice from them in my snail mail today, don't now how they got my address.  It's kinda of 'official looking' so I opened it. There is a name in there, 'Credit Street', but there is not much further information. You would have to call their number to get more, I would guess.

Supposedly, there are only 2 debt consolidation services you should use.  This is not one of them!
