I plainly told the "locator" for Global that the NC State Atty General's office was doing an investigation on him for illegal debt collection practices.  I haven't heard back from him!!!!  And this was after a solid month of harrassing me, my family and my job!

they called me and left a message on my VM. Claiming that Mr. So So has a serious lawsuit against him and if he knows what is good for him he better call.  well Mr. So So is DEAD. That is right. My father is dead. Has been dead for 11 years. We went through our probate court. No outstanding loans and probate was settled 10 years ago. Somehow they have MY SS # and my fathers name.  So now they think that I created the fraud and now I am responsible for the bills.  This people put you on hold to check with their supervisors and they are lying scum bags to put it nicely.  It is a scam. Everything they are doing is against. the FTC and you all should report this to them.  They will be FINED serious amounts of money for breaking the law on so many levels.  And Mr. ERIC HENRY you can kiss the grass on my dad's grave buddy.

I've filed a complaint with the NC State Atty General's Office for this "Global" firm and their "locator".  He says what they are doing is highly illegal.  NO MATTER what they threaten, they can NOT do anything!!!  It's all a scare tactic.

As much as you hate to get the harrassing calls, they will stop.  He's stopped calling me when I informed him that I contacted the atty general's office.

I live in NC and payday loans are illegal here and when I did my research and told them what I know, they quit!!

This "locator" guy called yesterday and was a royal do***ebag, threatening litigation and all that. Now, i did have a payday loan that I defaulted on and still can't repay, but it had gone to collections and i figured it became the same kind of thing that credit card debt does, at least in Texas: they can't take me to court, they can just keep sending collection letters but they actually can't do anything, and since there was no property involved, they can't repo anything. Also, in Texas, only the fed or state government can garnish wages. But still, I didn't know if payday loans were different, so i called the number the locator gave me. They tried to get me to pay something immediately, then they tried to get me to make a partial payment in order to cancel out some fees and bring the cost down, then they told me that I had to put a credit card or debit card on file and allow bank drafts to pay the bill. the woman said Global had no other way to pay things, I could not do a one-time debit where I didn't have to store my bank card info with them, I could not send in a check or money order, I could only pay electronically. I started looking into securing legal aid.

This morning, the locator guy called again and spoke to our office manager and told her he had papers to serve me and that he would be showing up with the authorities today. It dawned on me that I had once before been served litigation papers (erroneously, they had the same name and a similar but different address and thought that was good enough for a match) and the person who served the papers was a constable. I remembered that when someone is served notice of being sued, an officer of the court makes the delivery and that they don't have to contact you first: they just show up.

I can't wait for this guy to call back so I can tell him I've uncovered his fraud.

These people called me for the first time 2 days ago, but did not leave a message.  The next day they called again and left a message saying that this is my Final Notice to pay off a pay-day loan from 2008.  This pay-day loan that they were speaking of happens to be the only pay-day loan that I have ever taken out in my life, and I knew that I had paid that thing off back in 2008.
Well, I called these people back (Global Collections) and tried to explain to them that I knew that I had paid that loan off.  The guy I was speaking with started to get real testy with me and said that I don't have any proof of that payment, and that I had to give him $800 for that old $200 debt.  He also said that if I didn't settle up with him right then and there, that Global would take me to court and it would ruin me financially.
The next day, I went to the loan office and got the receipt to my one and only pay-day loan.  The loan office confirmed that I did indeed pay off this loan, and that they never turned me over to collections.  After reassuring myself that I really did pay that loan off 4 years ago, I called these punks back, ready for a confrontation.
I asked for the same S.O.B. that I spoke with the day before.  When he got on the line, I told him that I had proof that I had paid that loan in full, and that he can go f*** himself.  He replied by saying that he had f***ed my mother last night.  Then he asked how I wanted to settle up with Global today, despite me having told him that I had proof that I had paid my debt.  I replied by saying that he could just go f*** off.  He said that he would see me in court, and he hung up.
This company is 100% a scam, and I advise that you Do Not comply with them whatsoever!  I am so upset that diabolical scumbags, such as these, can actually make a living being scumbags.
The company is Global, and the dirty S.O.B. that I spoke with @ Global went by the name of Brian Perry.  Both the company and the dude are total scums of the Earth!!!  Please don't fall victim to the people and spread the word.

The message from 334-380-5237 a Kim johnson who said she had papers to serve me regarding a debt and if I wanted to not have papers served on my job I could call Global Mediation at 888-907-4719.  In calling this number they sid the debt was low but a $200 locator fee had been added but if I paid $190.00 today ir within 3-5 days they could waive the $200 and I would only owe $190.00  I then asked for something in writing to say the loan was never paid back and was told nothing could be sent to me until I paid the said amount and then they could send me a relase or clearance.  Willing to accept $20.00 today with the balance to be paid at the end of this month but could only accept funds with either credit card or pre-paid card and would this info on file until debt paid in full.
Kim Johnson was supposedly hired by Global Mediation.

EXACT thing is happening to me.  I DID do a payday loan with Westgate LLC online (which they are prohibited in NC and this company knows this).

I work with attorneys and these people can NOT serve you with papers if you live in a state where paydays are illegal such as my state of NC.  They will harrass you and break all kinds of laws trying to collect, but not paying a debt is NOT illegal.  You have nothing to worry about.  I've talked to a bankruptcy attorney and this is straight from him!!

After filing a complaint with the NC State Attorney General's office and speaking with them, next time this "locator" named Scott Thomas called, I told him that NCSAG office was investigating their collection practices, he has NOT called back!!!!!!!!!!!

They can't do ANYTHING.  It's all threats to extort money....do not fall for it.!

i have gotten calls form these scum buckets and the have even contacted a very ill (terminally ill ) friend of mine. i went through the whole matter with them, even spoke to a so called supervisor named Mr Williams. When Ms wagner got on the phone she told me i had a loan from money and more in 11/08. so i ordered my bank statements from the bank from n9/2008-3/2009. no one on my account by the name they gave me. the also said i took out a loan in the amount of 300.00...no deposit on my account. when i asked for the information on the loan she cou;d not validate the information so i asked for her supervisor. she transfered me to Mr williams. so he gets on the phone and tells me i took out a loan in 4/2010...so no true and that the loan was for 255.00 again so not true. i spent hours researching this information with my bank. good thing i have fraud protection on my credit.

The exact same thing happened to me today. I actually really had a Money and More loan in 2008, but I paid it off. I told them that I can provide bank statements as a proof of payment but they told me that it is too late for this, because it already went too far. They said they can only release my paperwork with more information if I pay something right away by credit card.....when I said no, they threatened me saying that they know where I live and where I work and that they got my SSN........

I got a call from a locator (local phone number) today telling me that he has to serve me with papers for a court date and he gave me a case number and the number 888-901-4719 to call.

I called and they said a loan company did not get my payment and they referred to a loan I actually had in 2008. They knew my bank account info, my work address, my SSN...everything. I said that I paid the loan and that I can provide bank statements but they did not want to listen to it and instead kept on saying I should resolve this right away and that it is too late to try to resolve it by showing bank statements because it already went to far.

I said I need something in writing and they said that I will get the paperwork from the locator.

I called him back and he said he needed their release in order to bring it to my house.

I called them back and they said they won't release the paperwork without me paying anything and they will note the account now stating I refuse to pay and refuse to resolve it and if they were me they would not act like this because they know where I live, work and my SSN.

This made me think it's a scam.

What worries me is that I wonder where they have all the information from?

Do NOT fall for these payday loan companies.  If you live in a state where they are illegal they can NOT come after you!!!!

Many payday loan consumers live in fear everyday because of unpaid payday loans.  The reason why is payday lenders sometimes threaten customers to pay back their payday loan debt within a short deadline or they could face serious consequences if they do not come up with the money on time.
We have heard several threats and here are some of the most commonly used ones:
We will sue you for check fraud.
We will have someone arrest you.
We will make sure you go to jail.

Are these true?  Can a payday lender really sue, arrest, or put you in jail for a payday loan?  The answer is no.  Defaulting on a payday loan is not a crime and cannot result in criminal charges.  This means that you cannot be prosecuted, arrested, or put in jail check fraud, breach of contract, or anything else that your payday lender might threaten you with.
Making false threats to collect on a debt is illegal in every state.  If your payday lender has threatened you with the statements above, or something similar, it is likely that your payday lender is conducting business illegally and is unlicensed.  This is usually the case if you received your payday loan from a company online.  90% of internet payday lenders are unlicensed, which means that they do not have the legal ability to take civil action against you.  For this reason, they threaten customers into paying them because they know that if they are not successful on collecting the debt themselves, then there is no other way for them to get their money back.  They also cannot take you to court if  you live in a state where payday lending is prohibited.  The states in which payday lending is not allowed are:

Connecticut
Georgia
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
New Jersey
New York
North Carolina
Pennsylvania
Vermont
Washington DC
West Virginia

Called a friend of mine at work looking for me and my phone number.  Called me on a blocked number and gave me a number to call.  Same thing, they were a "locator", gave me a case number to use.  Called to try and clear things up, big mistake.  Guy had me hold for a case manager, I hung up like 4 times and he kept calling back.  Talked to a case manager and smelled scam for days.  Never heard of the payday loan company that she said.  I told her that I needed documents mailed to me stating who I owed and what I owed for.  I had gone into 13 bankruptcy and I know I listed any and all of these mistakes I made.  I finally got upset with her and told her not to call me back any more and hung up.  3 hours later, another shmuck calls me up trying to be all sly and I told him that my attorny advised me to have documents sent to me for examination and that by all accounts on the web, they are a scam and told him not to call this number again.  So far, so good.  Any advice on what I should do next?

The interesting thing here is payday loans....  they can really only file a suit in small claims...  in which case Global literally can't sue...  it has to be the credit originator not an assignee (debt collection agency).  Just a debt collector trying to scare people into paying.  They called me up and tried to collect on a payday loan and didn't have any of the right information.  Would not produce any supporting doucments would only ask if I would re-pay volentarily or not.  I refused to answer because I didn't believe I owe the debt.
