Same information from above, calling stating that they are trying to get a hold of me and that they have an estate  claim, and it is my best interest to contact them today......they give their name and say mine all chopped up, and it is in my best interest to call them, when I call back I get a number that has been disconnected or not working at this time. some times when they call their number comes up on my ID 0-000-000-0000, I have had it, my son received the same call and they told him to f---- himself and tell me to two the same. This must end

Thank you for your information!  I also received this authomated and the phrase "you've been served" kind of freaked me out.  The name they called me by was my maiden name that I haven't used in 10 years! Anyway, thanks for the research you did on this company!

I received a call as described in the other posts.  It is a collection agency named Abbott Newman & Associates.  Their direct dial number is 610-572-1726 and the toll free number given was 888-903-7350 - by the auto dialer.  They claim to plan on having me "served at home or work" with a "summons and complaint" from their client.  Their tactics are in complete violation of FDCPA (Fair Debts Collections Practices Act).  When I brought that to their attention, they hurriedly hung up the phone.

I have reported them to the AG's office http://www.naag.org/ and the FTC http://www.ftc.gov/.  Don?t be intimidated by their bullying, tactics and deception.  You have rights!

What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.

False statements.
Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren?t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren?t legal forms if they are.

Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:

you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt;
they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take the action.

Debt collectors may not:

give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn?t; or
use a false company name.
Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt ? or your state law ? allows the charge;
deposit a post-dated check early;
take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or
contact you by postcard.

this number is a scam!!  they also go by 610-572-1726 - an automated msg that tells u that u have been served...  don't believe what they say

I just received the same message as above but the recorded message cut off just stated I had been served.

Same issue as bugged - Guy called me and stated name (Robert Mathews) and who he was calling for (my full name!). It was a recording and even though it's the first time i've received a call from him and i picked up on first ring - the recording stated that he was leaving a message for me b/c he wasn't able to get a hold of me. Said he would contact me at work or i could call him and set up a meet so he can "serve" me! Even gave me a case number!

Prerecorded message of a man who identifies himself and the party being called, and his reasons for calling. He provides a case number and this phone # (888-903-7350) to arrange to meet so that the party can be served legal documents in person.
