I receive  a message too for a job that I applied for, but why would a company send a text and not even list a name to contact them back?

Received a text message on my cell phone today requesting I call  1-888-907-4195 for an Admin Asst position they said I had applied for.  I decided to look up this # to find out what the company name was and I pulled up this website.  The original # the text came from is cell # 1-214-784-4159.

Thank you all for posting your information about this scam online.

Just got off the phone from a guy who texted to call regarding a "help desk" position that I applied for - this position is general enough to be something I've applied for..    I called back 15 minutes later and a guy answered "is this Rob?" - I expected to get an automated answering system at the very least, much less, "is this Rob?"..He first Asked if I had 5-25 minutes.  He first asked about my educational background, which is on my resume, but that's ok, I'll reiterate because I realize they look for consistencies.  He then asked if I planned on furthering my education in the future - ulterior motives - I knew this and answered flatly, "no".  After one or 2 more general questions, he then says "well that's it, you did a good job of filling out your resume, so I don't have anymore questions" and that the next person to call me would be the "(direct) hiring manager" (breath not held).  Would you like me to email you (BS thing w/little or no chance of winning)? for a chance at winning $500...no thanks.    He verified my phone and email info.  This concerns me a bit, I have had my resume posted on CareerBuilder for about 8 months and never had any problems..

Also, if you're on the job market, look out for a text that leads to a site called "jobnab.com", or any other site that requires you to fill out info on online education - red flag - move on.   After 10 months of unemployment, all of the text solicitations have occurred in a period of 1 week.   Best case scenario - one or both of these texts were intended to pimp online colleges.  As always, be aware of identity thieves.  Although the most prominent of this sort, for me anyway, have come in the form of an email with the promise of millions of dollars if I just give my name and other personal information to this African chick in some sort of "prison" after her parents were killed or murdered.

Online education is working on being one of the bigger fiascos out there in terms of marketing and spam.  I filled out some online colleges' forms for contact - big mistake - I almost always allowed to go to voice mail and some of the same people called easily 10 times and it took months to stop getting phone calls from The Art Institute of the Middle Lower Northwestern University of Phoenix.

I just received a text from a number regarding a HR position that I had applied for. I haven't, and don't plan on, contacting back. I feel like any legitimate company would call or email. Text messages are convenient but very unprofessional. Especially during the beginning stages of contact.

I received the same message (but for Host)  just a few minutes ago. I am in Las Vegas and they are preying on the unemployed...bizzare considering many unemployed have bad credit and stealing their identity won't get them new credit card accounts.

Usually it is through craigslists posts (which I was ignoring for a while because of this issue, but have since seen some legitimate companies posting in Craig's).

The advice: unless they are willing to tell you WHO they are and you can trace back their name or number to confirm the company or person, don't bother telling them anything about you!

Received a text message asking me to call this number re: a job I applied for through CareerBuilder.  The listing on CB had a company name of "Red Job Blue Job" which I thought was most likely a job placement company or scam.  Caller Id on the text was 704-936-6232.  Don't think a legitmate company would communicate via text and if they do, not sure I would want to work for them.  Not professional in my opinion.
