Technically, what they are doing is illegal, because of the fact that they are fraudulently taking money from you, However, the fact that they conned you into giving them your bank account information, that was something that I would recommend you never do again. If you are ever asked for your bank account information or any kind of personally identifiable information over the phone, or on the internet, the option is just not to enter this information, unless you are sure you can trust the site.  Unfortunately, that is, if this person is caught, then they will face several criminal charges, but your money will take a great deal of time to get your money back. However, if your identity was stolen, then they face heavier charges and will be pending further investigation.

I too recieved almost the exact same harassing calls. They almost had me till I researched the law firm. I was surprised to find that law firm has been disbarred & Rothstein is doing 50 years for ripping off millions of dollars. Well, $100,000,000 is what he owes in restitution. Then I did further research & found that in 1978 the government passed the fair collections act which makes it illegal for them not only to misrepresent themselves, but also illegal to threaten legal action to collect said debt. I have told this company (Miss Sanders) that the person they are looking for does NOT live at my home, has never lived at my home and I hardly see them. I told them to please stop calling my house and she told me that I HAVE to get ahold of the person in question. After arguing with this person over four different phone calls, she calls again and tells leaves a message on my answering machine telling me she is from the courts and I HAVE to let the person in question know that they MUST respond by May 4, 2012 or a warrant will be out for his arrest, and she told me alot of the person's personal information. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS CASE OR THE PERSON IN QUESTION AND HAVE INFORMED THEM OF IT. They have refused to remove me from their call this.
