if someone is telling you to wire any portion of that check.  then the check is fraud. what usually happens it clears the bank and a few days letter the bank discovers the check is fraud and takes the money back from your account and if you sent any portion western union  you arent getting it back and you will have to pay back any amount of the check that is missing. usually leaving you holding a negative balance or out of a lot of money.

Had the same experience, probably same man with heavey Indian accent and same $975 for processing fee to get remainder of $10,000. I called attorney generals office in my state to report this scam. I was going to tear the check up but I will hold it for proff of this ridiculous scam.

Received letter from First Data re: Merchant International Customer Loyalty Reward Program with check from Citibank for $1,475.00.  Called 888-983-5559 spoke with a man with heavy Indian accent, told to cash check & send them $975.00 for processing & they will then send remainder of $10,000.00.??
