They called me and said I had an outstanding debt from advance america but never sent me anything in the mail.  I paid them but am not working with my bank because I think it may be fraud.  Receipt says Alliance LLC but the charge is from Coastal Financial.  I am so confused. :/

You don't know that the hunted person owes anything, and the nature of the illegal threats suggests a phantom debt.

A legally compliant collection agent will name his employer on request. A lawbreaker will dodge or fudge the response.

No, that is not correct.
An OFFICIAL notification must be made in writing, via snailmail.

they called us on 855-683-3456. told my husband he owed to advance america from 2009. my husband paid them the money, but now I cannot find any information on the company. They told us it was alliance llc ... seems odd that they are collecting on a debt from 5 years ago. In their voicemail they said the companys name was Postal. And that we "had officially been notified"

It's some third rate collection agency...These idiots called me looking for some dead beat and would not identify who they were. A-holes is what they are.
