When it shows as all zeros or as a number which when you call it is out of service, this means that the company is doing what is called "caller ID spoofing".  Typically this is sucessfully done by using an ilegal device (in most staates) and trust me when I say that law enforcement has been cracking down and issuing huge fines to these companies which still spoof their caller id.  VCS actually called me from a local cell phone today.  The number was 803 610-4179.  Yet another shady collections tactic.  The real messed up thing is that these hacks continue to call and these calls are apparently for an individual which previosly had the number.  The  rep at the other end has been told and told and told that I have no clue who the person is that they are trying to reach.  On a side note, does the Do Not Call registry really work?  Hany people sescribe this as being b/s.

I was trying to buy a house 7 years ago and VCS had something on my credit report from a gym membership that I was accused of defaulting on in 1996 when in fact I cancelled the membership within the 30 day period allowed to do so.  The gym was not willing to help me out with the collector vcs regarding this matter because so many years had passed by.  I reluctantly paid to get it off of my credit report so I could get my house financing.  Vacs promised to have it removed immediately as I explained my situation with the house financing.  Nearly a month passed and it was still on my credit report as not paid in full which it had been with a bank check certified!  I called the man at CVS and he hung up on me.  I called again and another hang up.  I called again and he explained that he was in no hurry to remove it from my credit report and I should have paid it years ago so if I needed it off immediately I would have to dispute it in writing with all 3 credit bureaus.  He seemed to get a lot of pleasure out of making me miserable and making sure I couldn't get a great finance rate with the mortgage company because he had the power to do so.  Now fast forward to today...they called me about another collection matter.  I have been thru a job loss, car report, forclisure on the house I worked so hard to get, a wife that is disabled and her dissability insurance dropped her claim but she still cannot work and totally ruined credit with barely a reason to even live at this point and they are just as rude as ever.  Calling with 000-000-0000 showing up on the caller Id.  They are rude as all hell on the phone and its everyone you talk to not just one specific person.  They claim on here that they are trying to help the people they are contacting but after what they did to me years ago when I was buying my house I don't see any help from them at all.  I forgot to mention I also care for my 61 year old hearing impaired and mentally diasabled aunt on top of all of my other problems.  Now with a wife that can't work and an aunt that can't work and 3 kids all of which I have to support all on my own I don't think they will see a Nickle of money from me for some time to come so hopefully they will quit trying.  If I owe it and I have it ill pay it but for now I'm just searching for a way to stay alive.  Maybe if you try calling and actually try to be nice and helpful since you are here to help and all I will explain this to you.  I'm sure that wont happen based on KY past experiences and everyone else's or at least the majority of others.

Valley Credit Services.. Wow what a bunch of low life people. I had a 280$ traffic ticket that was transfered to them, they called and they said my balance was $983.61! Is this even legal? Most places have some sort of re licensing program, the lady on the phone was very rude. I just want to drive legally..

I understand that you are trying to do your job and that you are paid by an entity to collect what they feel is owed to them via the contact numbers provided.  HOWEVER, when you call someone's work number and are told that they will be given a message, but to please make personal calls to their home... you should do so!  I contanstantly receive calls from debt collectors who call several times a day/several days a week and are told that the individual has been given a message and all future calls are to be made to their personal phone.  Invariably, the collector answers that this is business; if this is not business related to the persons JOB it is not appropriate to continue calling when asked not to.  For my part, these calls will always be answered by me and ONE message will be given.  Any others will be ignored and after a certain time span, you will be directed to the attorney for the business that is paying me to answer the phones.

I have no idea who you are.  If you have actually researched the claims you make, you would know they are untrue and completely baseless.  Your comments are inflamitory and unfounded. There are plenty of ways to research these claims as they are of public record.  I hope others that read your comments actaully take the time to do the research.  They will find which of us is correct.

I would suggest, if you want to learn more about your rights, visit www.askdoctordebt.com.  This website was created by ACA International to help educate consumers on ethical contact and their rights in regards to working with professional agencies.

We invite constructive comments and always look forward to working with consumers to help them resolve whatever problem they have with their bill.

The collection industry has a miriad of privacy laws to abide by. How would you have felt if we left a very detailed message on your recorder about a debt, only to find out later your house sitter retrieved it because you were on vacation?  Not good.

When we call, we are calling to address an issue. Maybe, it was only an oversight on your part?  Maybe, there was a problem with the product or service? VCS, Inc has been working to mediate issues like this since 1966. We're not a "fly by night", a scam or shady. Our representatives are here to HELP YOU, they are certified professionals.

Actually, it's Valley Credit Service, Inc.

We call the contact numbers given to us from our clients.  If we ever have contact with you again, please inform the agent of a better number to contact you.  We want to help resolve whatever issue is in the way of getting the bill paid.

On an additional note, $30 sounds like a co-pay due as part of your contractual agreement with your insurance agency. Doesn't sound like an insurance issue to me. Sounds like you may not have paid the provider your portion at the time of service.

Thank you.  We are glad we could help.  We don't want to see collection accounts go to the credit report any more than the consumer would. Thank you for your prompt attention to the matter.

Received a call at work today from this number, trying to collect on something I had no clue was in collections and something I thought was taken care of a year ago.

A gym I used to have a membership with never sent me a monthly bill, and I never noticed anything being taken out of my check at work. I asked them about it at the gym, and they said the monthly fees should be taken out of my checks each month. I quit using that gym about a year ago, and thought this was all worked out with them. But they never took out anything, and now I owe $282, which isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Also, this is the first I've heard from this company regarding this bill. I got no notices from the gym saying I owed them money or anything.

I'm glad I called when I did, because it was about to be reported on my credit score.

if you know ANYTHING about the laws collection agencies must operate & abide by, you'd think twice about demanding information regarding another person's PERSONAL business!!! many people would be embarassed to hear themselves talk to a total stranger the way they do!! just take the message and pass it along. if it was YOUR BUSINESS the agency/agent would have asked for YOU!

Received a call at work.  I was out of town, as indicated by my voice message.  The caller (Judy) still left an abrupt message for me to return the call immediately.  I was taken aback by her tone, since this was the first call I received.  She left no indication on who's behalf she was calling or what the call was in reference to.  I googled the (888) number she left.  Thanks for your postings.  I now understand it's not just Judy, it's the way this collector operates.  Unfortunately, I have a feeling I fall into that not legitimate debt or very small debt category.  Too bad this agency treats all customers the same (BADLY).

Thanks for listing this number and filling this out.  They just called me oon my CELL PHONE yesterday and demanded that I call "Tracy" back "today."  [Valley Credit Services] I thought her tone was unusual so I have not called her back, nor do I plan to. I noticed that their caller ID number is 0000000000, just a nondescript bunch of zeros.  I should note that the bill they are trying to get me to pay was actually MADE UP by a home contractor.  We paid him 100% of the original agreed upon amount, even though his work was not satisfactory, and he made up the "contract" that he showed them. How do you handle them when the bill they are trying to hit you up for is completely bogus?  If I took them to court, which I can do if I have to, I would win hands down (law degree comes in handy!) and I could make considerable trouble for the contractor since he is unlicensed in our state. This guy is doing subpar work and claiming to be good.  People need to know that he's a snake. I'm going to post what happened with his company around websites that he has advertised on or listed his tiny company (just him).

This is number for a Hagerstown, Maryland collection agency called Valley Collection Services.  They get a lot of collections from local Doctors and medical facilities. They called me over a $30.00 balance due to a Dr. affiliated with Frederick Memorial Hospital.  It was an insurance company error, however before it got cleared up, they were very aggressive.  They actually started out by calling my work number!  Over $30.00???  Unbelievable!  When I called them back they were polite and professional. I must say, if you needed to send something to collections, they would be aggressive, within the limits of the law, and treat each acct. with importance.  I can't believe they got this acct. a week ago and started out with due diligence for only $30.00!!
