Debt Collector
A debt collector being confused about a person's identity doesn't automatically qualify them as scam artists.  Nor does rude behavior although that would be a sure fire way for said company to never get a dime from me.

If you want to know if a debt collector is legit, get yourself a free credit report (from whichever site you feel like) and see 1) if you have any outstanding debts, 2) if they've been passed on to collections, and 3) if the collections agency is indeed the one that has been calling you.  If all 3 check out, call the number of that agency as it shows up on your credit report, then you will know you're dealing with a legit company.  All 3 checked out for me, and I ended up settling a debt for less than half the original amount.  If that's not enough to convince you......enjoy your tinfoil hat.

This company called and left a message saying that someone I've never heard of put my wife and I down as a reference and they needed him to call them back immediately.

Humm. Sounds kinda shady to me. My sister is dealing with this company now... LOL.. But they don't know me. See I work for a LEGITIMATE co. We do follow the rules of FDCPA and let me tell you. Screaming, Harrassing. aand calling names is Definitely a form of harrassment. Foolish. If you ask me. I wonder do you buy the debt or are you hired. If hired I will lodge a formal complaint. and I am looking into attorneys.

When I called them back, I was told they were trying to collect a debt from 1982. 17 yrs later ??? They claim they have sent me notices. I have never received anything regarding this bill. The person I spoke to was very rude when I told him that I didn't have a checkbook with me and couldn't provide an account number from my bank.

First sending a post dated check is not illegal. there is no difference if you give your information  such as routing and checking account numbers over the phone or in an envelope your still giving them the same information. Maybe if you did not have a long standing debt then you would not be getting calls from collection agencys. First National Recovery Solutions is an actual company that has taken a black eye for all the collection agencys that are fraudulant. They are a good company by far and have few complaints compaired to the hundreds of thousands accounts they collect on. So before you run your mouth get your facts straight. Maybe you should have see if they were registered with the BBB which they are and have a good report. They are a small up and coming company who follow the FDCPA collection laws to the letter. Each employee is screened and trained to collect using no pressure tactics. They help more people get out of debt by noticing that persons needs and interests and position they may be in at that time. So I hope with that said I have cleared up and misconceptions regarding first national recovery solutions which by the way are not NRA. That is a totally differant company. Thank you for your time..................JR

I work at first national. it is a real company. the are located on broadway in depew. they can find any info about anyone through social security numbers, addresses and phone numbers. they would have to go through legal routes to garnish wages, that doesn't actually mean going to court. this is not a scam.
