I openned a bank account and needed some log in help, out of the banks brochure and was directed to call 900-622-8000! It said it was going to connect me to the new number! I called the 900 number and up came a message that this call was going to cost $9.99. What I have surmised looking at postings about this number that the charge will come back as a $120 charge! I filed a police report and they said they could not do much! I am sick of these scumbag scam artists and am going to research this, contact the FBI, the phone company that issues these 900 numbers and anybody else that can help me! If you posted this in march and it is july now, then these scumbags are probably doing a hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of fraud, which equals major felony and a lot of federal time!

I have received multiple unsolicted fax advertising from a company regarding company vacation packages, sometimes up to 4 a day.  The return telephone number was listed as 800-670-3317.  The fax directed me to call 877-859-3160 to stop receiving these faxes.  However, when I called that number, I was directed to 900-622-8000 to resolve the problem.  I didn't call, specifically because it sounds like a scam to me.  However, there still is the problem of the orginal unsolicited fax advertising using up all of my ink and paper.

My father found a pager in his shopping bag when he got home.  I called the 800-447-9994 to return the pager and it directed me to call 900-622-8000. If I had called the number I would have been charged at lest $9.99.  This is a scam.

We get these calls ever so often. This is about the 3rd time.
All it says is to enter your pin number. Then it advises the 800 number is now a 900 number. We never call it. I'm going to report it to Windstream even though it will probably do no good.

Can't the police track down where these 900 numbers are working from?  Can't the phone companies not allow any calls to these scam numbers?

I located some 'odd' charges on my residence phone bill. sure enough, my husband must have responded to another 'one' of the scam artists..and called 900-622-8000=$19.98 {2 calls} AND 900-622-9000 = $4.98.
If you have a friend or spouse that is impaired or has poor judegment monitor your accounts....the "Lottery Scam" is another serious way to have large amounts of your money stolen.

While I was at a meeting, my husband got a call directing him to call 888-662-7547 about a credit report.  When he dialed the 888 number they redirected him to 900-622-8000.  He heard a message that stated ýou must be 18 to take this call etc.' and promptly hung up!  He informed me of this on my return and I am here writing this down.  To my amazement my husband didn't know that a 900 call was dangerous. He is 60 year old. Now I am going to monitor everything to see if we got stung!!!!!

Just recieved a call on my old phone number, since I moved to my dad's from my mom's house only 5 houses away. My mom recieved a call asking for me specifically to call back Mrs. Hodgson at 1800-544-1256 about some work.
When i called I got first a series of beeps and noise, then another call to that number I got the message saying the business has moved and to call 1900 622 8000. I knew 900s were pay lines so did a search and found this. I am in Mesa, AZ
I sent a call in to my fraud hotline here so hope this scam gets stopped soon.

I called the number on the back of a Chase TJMAXX card. A recording told me the number had been changed to 900-622-8000. When I called the number, I was told that the charge was $6 + per minute.  I quickly hung up  and re-dailed the number on the back of the Chase card for customer service and was given the the 900 number again.

I then called Chase security and it was like talking to a piece of plywood.  I don't think I could get the message across to her that the reason I called was that someone was going to get charged and be a little angry with Chase. In looking through these comments, I've seen Chase mentioned several times so I guess maybe they don't care.

I got a call from 866-396-7700 about a collection for a debt and I was informed to call a 900-622-8000. I googled the 866 # and found it to be a scam. Do not call that 900 # or you will be charged.

I have a brother embroidery machine and I needed to contact brother. My notes have 877-427-6843 for Brother. I dialed it and was directed to the 19006228000 number which I did not call.
900 numbers you don't ask for are always scams.

I don't think so...

Telemarketer
Caller contacted me to extend a magazine subscription before the rate increase "next month".  I knew that the specific magazine (Guideposts)does not contact subscribers for renewal, so it had to be a hoax.  They offered a phone number 1-800-237-2380 for verification of their offer.  That number directed me to call 1-900-622-8000 which I knew to NEVER call!

I got my new phone bill which is pretty much the same amount every month. It was noticeably more than usual. I checked it out and found two calls to 900-622-8000 at 9.99 each. The company is OAN-Service Bureau Networks which has been behind other charges I've had on my phone bill before. How can these people continue to pull this crap off and not get caught?

There is a job listing in our local paper this morning that reads, "Forklift Operator/Warehouse Person. Please call 1-800-331-9940 or apply in person Mon 12-5 Tues & Wed 9-12 & 1-5 with the address.  This is approx. 3 miles from the staffing agency where I work.  I called to see which company the ad was for and I immediately had a recorded message that said the number had been changed to 1-900-622-8000.  I tried to Mapquest the directions, and the address didn't exist.  It's pretty pathetic when people sink this low to scam folks that are desperately looking for work!

I received a call from Social Security regarding my recent application and they left a return 800#. When I dialed that number, it was intercepted by a recording telling me to now call 1-900-622-8000. I was immediately suspicious seeing the 900# and googled the number.  I can only assume I dialed an erroneous # first because I would hate to think these people were intercepting random calls like this!

I had the same thing happen t me.  Do not call any 900 number.  It will cost you $9.99.  I called the number of the company that was listed who charged $1.95 to my checking account.  They have no record of me or my account. I'm trying to find out how this happened.

While NCO Financial is a legitimate collection agency in New York, they will never ask you for your SSN, date of birth, or any other type of information before they tell you why they are calling.  They will also never ask you to call them back on a 900 number.

I received a call from a number that came up as 800-895-7432.  The last seven digits of the number are familiar to me.  Upon calling back, I was also given the number of 900-622-8000 for customer service.  DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER.  Any 900 number is a fee number, and it will charge you for the call.

This started when I requested some cd's about government grants (of all the things).  In the small print on the computer screen it says something about monthly charges.  Several were $1.00.  I guess the other was 41.62.  Even though I called to cancel this after I read the small print, I was still billed.
