I received a letter in the mail post marked West Palm Beach, FL.  The letter states I had won an Android Tablet and a 100.00 restaurant gift card.  Gave the 901-248-6242 number for me to call and for me to mention the RSVP code supplied in the letter.  I tried calling from a phone that is not traceable and but line stated "number no longer in use"

I have been getting calls from this number, (901-248-6242) from a man named Allen Carter. He said he's with the State Bureau Investigations. He said that I have a payday loan and that if I don't pay the money to him, that he would send the Sheriff to my job to issue an arrest warrant. He told me to go to Walmart or Walgreens to purchase a "money pack" card which has no expiration date and call to give him the 14- digit number. I was told that he could settle this loan payment for $460.

Just received a call from 901-248-6242 from an individual who spoke very broken English.  They called a business number and asked to speak with one of my employees.  Upon telling him that person was not available they called back 3 times.  The fourth time the caller immediately started calling me derogatory names.  I'm glad I did not waste any time pulling my employee away from work to speak with this vile person.

Prank Call
I just found this like and article on AL.com (Alabama) website:

http://blog.al.com/live/2013/06/mcso_fake_deputy_attempts_to_s.html

MOBILE, Alabama -- Sheriff's deputies are warning residents to be wary of people calling about arrests warrants after a concerned citizen said she encountered a scam today.

A woman contacted the Mobile County Sheriff's Office today after she was called by a person who identified himself as a member of MCSO.

It was the third time she had been contacted by the man, according to Lori Myles, public information officer for MCSO.

On June 13, a man identifying himself as Officer Brian Jones with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation called and told the woman to put money on a Green Dot card, and then call another number and give him the card's 14-digit confirmation number.

He told her it couldn't have an expiration date.

The woman was contacted again a few days later by a man identifying himself as Jones, who gave her a different badge number when she asked for it. Myles said he knew personal details about the woman's life.

The third time he called her was Monday night, when he identified himself as Officer Charles Green with MCSO.

He said the woman had a warrant out for her arrest and that she had to hang up and call a separate number to sort out costs associated with the warrant, Myles said. He asked for $475 and told her to call 901-248-6242.

The area code is used in southwest Tennessee.

According to the woman's caller-ID, the call came from 251-574-2423, the phone number for MCSO's front desk.

"When they said I had to hang up immediately, call another number and pay that person then I knew it was a scam," Myles quoted the woman as saying. "I notified the real Mobile County Sheriff's Office because I did not want them calling and harassing others."

Deputies believe the department's front desk number may have been falsified or "spoofed," however, MCSO will investigate to ensure their department didn't have a hand in the scam according to Myles.

Myles said MCSO never calls for money in exchange for a get out of Mobile County Metro Jail free card.

"We do have members of VCorps [an MCSO volunteer program] calling citizens about outstanding traffic warrants, but they do not ask [for] or accept money," Myles said. "We instruct them to go to District Court and pay their outstanding traffic violation there."

Myles said the scam highlights the importance of vetting a company or agency before giving personal information over to them.

Anyone who believes he or she may have fallen victim to this or any other scam or crime is asked to report the incident to MCSO on their website or by phone at 251-574-8633.

Updated at 2:25 p.m. with additional information from the Mobile County Sheriff's Office.

Prank Call
I just had a call - the number shows up at 901-284-6242 on caller ID. The message that was left was by someone who sounded both foreign and mentally challenged because they had a hard time getting words out. Said "This is officer Kayvin Smith from the state bureau of investigation" and went on babbling about my social security number, mailing address and banking information were under investigation and if I didn't call back immediately I would face legal con-a-sa-kwee-an-ses at my mailing address or workplace. Yeah,. whatever, you aren't calling from my state, you can't even pronounce half the words right, I guess I'll take my chances of facing con-a-sa-kwee-an-ses at my mailing address. Foreign morons. The number he left was 901-248-6242 - the 8 and 4 were swapped between the caller ID and the call back #.

This number called for my father today, this guy Nick Fleming is a scammer trying to say that he's from the state bureau of investigation,  we live in Texas and this a***ole is calling from Tennessee? My dad filled out a form online for a loan, one little form. And we've gotten over at least 70  phone calls in the last week, they've finally reduced to calling only 3 or 4 times a day now. But they are all trying to get him to pay back a loan which he doesn't have any loans right now.  Its a complete scam don't even answer the phone if this number calls its not worth losing your money.
