My son receive the same call. Although the first time they contacted him they said they were from a prosecutors office and he had a warrant sitting there getting ready to go out. If he didn't have money paid that he owed within a very short time. They had all his info. And because of this and the fact that my son had been in trouble several yrs. ago and on probation, it terrified us he by the help of his brother came up with 2 or 3 hundred dollars( they both are low income and have families) and because we were all terrified and have went through multiple tragedies, this just didn't click....they had him take the money to Walmart and send it. With some certified check thing. The next day my son thought about it and decided to call where he really owed the bill and they said they would never do this!!! Needless to say the bill didn't get paid off and somebody seen sucker across my sons head and my heart. 2 days ago that person whom calls herself Kayla Green, called and tried to pull it again!!!! I told him to notify his probation officer and Social Security Office. How can these people be stopped?

Angel....this may very well be a third party collection company but its seems awful peculiar to me how they have the same story when they call.  They have told most of us that I've heard about that we have a bad check from 2009. They have continued to call me once a week since the original call a few weeks ago. I don't answer their phone calls and I most certainly will not be sending them any of my hard earned money.

THIS IS ACTUALLY A THIRD PARTY COLLECTION AGENCY THAT HAS BOUGHT YOUR DEBT FROM ANOTHER COMPANY WHO BOUGHT THE SAME DEBT FROM THE INITIAL DEBTOR YOU ORIGINALLY RECIEVED THE DEBT FROM, AND WHAT HAPPENS IS AFTER THEY BUY THE DEBT IT IS NOW THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO RECOVERY THE MONEY THEY SPENT PURCHASING YOUR DEBT FROM YOU.  IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT THEY BELIEVE IN BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.  THEIR TACTICS ARE ILLEGAL AND MOST DEFINITELY CRIMINAL.  I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS COMPANY SINCE 2010 AND AT THIS POINT I AM TIRED OF PLAYING WITH THIS RAGGEDY LITTLE COMPANY AND WILL BE SEEKING AN ATTORNEY.  I THINK A CLASS ACTION SUIT IS MOST APPROPRIATE AT THIS TIME

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

This is a bill collector.  I filed bankruptcy in 2010 and the debt was written off and yet this company continues to break the legal ramifications surrounding bankruptcy.  They lie and tell you that you are going to jail and that they are issuing warrants for you, but after investigating this company and the allegations of filing a warrant.  I discovered that they have no authority and the threats they make are not only criminal but rediculous.  Save your money and instead we can file a class action lawsuit against this company.  1= complaint, 2= a problem, 3= an issue, 4 or more is a lawsuit.  Let me know what you think.

This company is so full of rediculousness it is a shame.  It is against the law to harass people and make threats towards them especially when you have no right or authority.  This will be the last time I will say this.  If your company continues to call and harass me especially since this debt has been settled through bankruptcy and I owe you nothing according to the Wisconsin Federal Courthouse, I will proceed in taking every possible action to ensure every person working with this company will be seeking employment elsewhere.  I will make it my personal mission in life to sue the pants off of this sad little company.  There are plenty of people I'm sure would love to get in on a class action suit against your company,  This is a shame and your buisness needs to be shut down, and I would love nothing more than to be the one to initiate the first claim,  think this is a game it is not.

My call came from a slightly different number: 901-300-2818. "George," said he was calling to notify me of "a pending felony warrant that is about to be served for writing bad checks."  This is a total joke, as I have never written a bad check.  He knew my birthdate, sort of (got the year wrong), but when he asked for my social security number I laughed in his face and hung up.

For those of you in fear because of these calls, a simple fact that should make you feel better: any law enforcement agency who actually HAS a warrant or any other legal document (to take your kids, etc.) is a joke.  Law enforcement NEVER call first under these drastic circumstances -- they just show up.

Please, please, please don't send these losers any money!

Folks, this is a version of the you-have-committed-a-crime extortion scam and you are being...
1. summoned/investigated/charged/whatever with fraud/embezzlement/passing_bad_checks/whatever or
2. served with a court_summons/arrest_warrant/bench_warrant/whatever or
3. located in preparation to_be_served/for_a_lawsuit/to_be_arrested/whatever or
4. sued for cable TV usage that you've been stealing for years or
5. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.

And you have to...
1. call back with your case number or
2. confirm your address/birthdate/SSN/whatever so you can be served or your papers processed or
3. pay $895 now to avoid paying $5,000 in court or
4. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.

Beware extortion scams come in many flavors and they constantly evolve to stay one step ahead of the law.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The FBI warns again http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releas ... nt-payday-loans
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Never do what they tell you to do but report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php as appropriate.

Anyway you said the same number called but using different names. Did they not use Katie Green with you?  Are you not the same person that said she had called you???  Just curious.  Might be another person who went through the same thing we did.

I Got a call from this number saying she was Katie Green and that they had a felony warrant out for me. She Said I had a bad check on a closed account written years ago. Said statute of limitations was about to run out and I was going to jail. Not sure what to make of this call. I think they are a fraud but have decided to contact an attorney anyway.  Anyone else had this same kind of call??
