I have been told the calls were made to determine if the number called is a working number.
The caller then compiles a list of working numbers and sells it to other tele-marketers.
Funny the good old USA government can determine anything about anybody but they can't be bothered
about this very aggravating problem. The FCC do-not-call is a joke.  As is most of the
Government.  Unfortunately, it is not funny.

Received a call 5-20-12 from this number. Called the number back and heard only a lot of background noise before being hung up on. Must be a scam.

Called my work cellphone - which is on Do Not Call list.  No message.

Called me on my cell phone today while at work. A prerecorded message offered to lower interest rates on my credit cards to as low as 6% if I had over $3,000.00 in credit card debt. All I had to do was press 1 to speak to a friendly support agent. Since this doesn't apply to me, I hung up without pressing 1. As soon as I finish this message, I'm going to the Do Not Call site and add this number to it.

I went on to the White Pages and typed the number in under 'Reverse Call'.  The info that came up says this is a cell phone and it is coming out of Memphis, TN.  Do credit card companies have individuals making cold calls?  I also tried calling the number back and got a 'full mailbox' message.  This doesn't sound too legitimate to me.

I received this call. It is a robocall looking to get you to presumably lower your credit card rate. The call does not identify a credit card company, but claims to have sent a number of notices. This is what one would call a deceiful call. It makes you think you might lose your credit card if you do not act, when in fact nothing has been sent in the mail. Do not fall for it.

Makes me want to punch someone in the face.

Same as others, just got a call on my company cell phone.  No one on the line tho.  Thought it might be business related, so I Googled the number and found this site.

They called I answered & pressed 1 to talk 2 someone to remove my cell phone number when I asked the guy if I had an acct with them already he asked me about my credit cards when I asked him again he just hung up. When I tried to call back the mailbox was full. I am going to report this number.

Memphis, TN #.  I didn't pick up.  Glad now that I read it's a scam.

Yeah I got the same scam call, offering to reduce my debt if i had 3K or more

Called me a few minutes ago, left no message.  Checked this site and am glad I didn't answer.

I got a call, answered it, they gave their recorded message about lowering my credit card rate to as low as 6.00% if I owed more than $3000.00.  I chose the option to speak to a friendly representative and Gennelle answered.  I asked to be removed from their call list and she just blurted out what sounded like random noises then hung up the phone.

Just got a call from this number and they left no message and when I called back the mail box was full and said to try again later...Must have been a telemarketer..dont know why cause my no. is on the do not call list

Decided to answer, but I did say hello after hesitating for a couple seconds to see if it was either a recording or some other stupid person. No one answered after I said hello, and they just hung up. Nice. Now after looking this number up on google, it is yet another number that I will set to "Send to Voicemail" so that I'll never hear it ring agian.

I got the same message at 7:00pm this evening. I'm also on do not call list and don't give out my phone.

Had the same number on an unpublished work cell phone, pressed one and started telling them to never call the number again as it was a business phone, they asked me to verify the number for removal and I did, and he stated they would not call back.  I will have to wait and see on this one.

The caller represented himself as being with "Account Services". He was seeking financial information to review my Visa/ Mastercard accounts in an effort to lower interest rates. He hung up when I informed him that I was on the Do NOt Call list and was going to report the call. He was very rude and defensive when I asked about the company name over "Account Services" and repeated that "Account Services' was their company name. I have received calls from this "agency" before, always with different numbers. Another number that they called from was 901-626-9238 or 907000421536 (as it appeared on my caller ID). PLEASE ASSIST WITH REPORTING THEM TO THE FEDERAL GOVT if you are on the Do Not Call Registry.

I got this call but I have a capital one card and I only receive mail offers from discover.  I think it was a phishing company.  I told them my number was on the do not call list.

This number is a SCAM. The BBB just confirmed it on the 10 o'clock news. Do not give them your credit card or personal information. They call your  cell phone, and if you don't answer they will not leave a message. If you do answer, they tell you they are trying to lower your interest rate on your credit card, and ask for your credit card information.

Same call to my Cell. Sounds phishy to me.

The recorded message was to get reduced rate on your credit cards. Said they sent me offers in mail, which they did not. When I asked to be removed from call list, the hung up on me. Has to be a scam. They are probably trying to get credit information from people. BEWARE.

They are keep calling to bother me at different times of the day and night.

I answered the call and a recorded message told me that it was my last chance to lower my credit card rates to 6% and that they had sent me multiple courtesy offers in the mail but I had not responded. The recording also said that in order to qualify for the program I must owe over $3,000 in credit cards. I was supposed to press 1 to get this "great offer." (I did not!)

This is a phishing scam... they did this to me and I called back, as you did, except I went along with the pitch.
The came on as if they were associated with my bank.
Everything was fine until they asked me for my acct# and other specifics.

Things went south when I said, "You're with me bank, you tell me my account number"...
They hung up...

I got a call today as well 8pm. I returned the call and it said the mailbox was full.
