This appears to be a scam working off the assumption (or off an actual list) that callers are Staples customers.  Staples isn't making the calls, nor are they involved, but when you return these voice mails, you're increasing the fees paid to carriers, and often those fees are legally (but unethically) transferred to those behind the original calls.  A REAL Staples message would leave an 800 number for a return call.  Be particularly aware of calling from your cell phone because now they will start running cell phone "scams" on you, too.

Best just to ignore.

by the way, these companies monitor these sites and have employees who attack or criticize or demean people offering legitimate information or asking careful questions.  Ignore them, too!  Or else, if you just can't resist, then call them and sing two verses of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood to them and then hang  up.  (Laugh)

I was billed $.20 when I returned the call on my cell phone with AT&T.  Should not have been charged.

It is Staples (or Quill since Quill is a subsidiary of staples).  Their call center / headquarters is located in Nova Scotia, so thats why it appears as a Canadian number. If they called and didn't leave a message it was a proactive sales call to see why there hasn't been any activity in your account and they ask you if you are shopping anywhere else.  If they do leave a message it will be in regard to a recent order.

I have a business account with Quill, so I get calls from this number a lot. It is a valid number.

I keep getting the calls also-at least every 2-3 days.  I am researching how to block the call. It's ridiculous to be interrupted  at work with these annoying calls.

I get called from them several times a day, every single day at my small business.  They aren't calling about an order or refund or whatever 'cause I haven't ordered anything from them.

I got a call from this number as well. I didn't recognize the name or area code so I didn't answer. They left a vm. I checked it today (they called yesterday) and it was Staples calling about my order. I called the number they left on my vm (877-312-9737), all he asked was for me to confirm what I ordered. Odd since I never got a call like that before, especially from a large company like Staples. Anyway, my order is now delayed.

Valid call from Staples, question about my order. They left a toll free 877 number to call back on the voicemail.

Snarky, aren't we? Just like what matters is not the color of your skin but the content of your character, what matters is not the screen name but the content of the post, and IGNORANT's right about 902 being a Canadian area code. Were you not a breast-fed as a baby?

You don't pay long distance when you call the number back. It goes through MA first.

It was Staples telling me my order was on hold and to call a different number (877)-312-9737 to release it. Called the number they told me too and verified it was Staples and not a fraudulent caller. To avoid long distance charges I suggest listening to the message and calling the toll free number they provide.

Love this site....Also received a call, however, the number is STAPLES distribution call center and is valid.  When they call the number on your account, order, refund or situation it is for verification or some question to your inquiry/order.....   The best thing to do if you wish to call back is call STAPLES at their (800) 333-3330 telephone and ask if their are any notes in file (computer) for your current interaction.

Got this call today, didn't recognize number, rejected call.  Caller left voice mail message.  Staples was calling regarding my order to indicate that one of the items would be unavailable for immediate shipping.  This is all good.  BUT I very much do NOT appreciate being called from a Canada number, because, as someone else indicated, had I called it back, I would have incurred long distance charges.  This phenomenon is not unfamiliar: There are so-called three digit direct-dial (1+) "area codes" in the Caribbean (e.g., 809?) which, if called, will charge many dollars per minute.  This should be ILLEGAL.  The phone companies know it, and they LOVE IT.  "Screw you, unwitting American citizen, we charge you, you pay, we make the money, we don't care about you."  Again this should be ILLEGAL.  Class Action Lawsuit, anyone?
