This a**hole calls my cell phone twice a day. You are unable to call the number back. This crap is getting old. Calling my home number is one thing, calling my cell phone cost me money.
| Isis Maclynter 2011-06-06 21:06:27 Unknown |
Phone calls like this are obtrusive to the daily lives of us. I personally will not stand for it. I will post again when I find the correct measures in which to end this. Long live privacy.

Claims to be a contractor for the local company offering an energy audit. I've been through this before - they just want to sell you appliances you don't need to get your govt tax credit. Call was to the Melbourne, Fl area.
| Paul 2011-06-06 21:06:27 Unknown |
Caller claims to be from some unknown company or organization (name is never mentioned) stating I was "referred" by a friend or family member for a free home energy audit and that I should call to confirm my "appointment." An 800 number is given at the end of the message but no company name is ever mentioned. An additional claim is made that I can save 30-50% off of my power bill every month through whatever this program claims to offer. Caller sounds like a minimum-wage telemarketer, definitely not a professional-sounding voice. The whole thing sounds fishy to me. Call is from the Jacksonville, Florida area.

From "http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-904-483-0854"
Further research on my part found that there are potentially serveral numbers used by this same calling party. Perhaps my calls (about once a week) from other numbers are all from the same place? I did not answer any of the calls from these four numbers, so I'm unable to confirm/deny them, but it is interesting that all four numbers could potentially be used by the same group:
904-859-5142, 03/18/11
904-271-1863, 03/23/11
904-483-0509, 03/30/11
904-483-0854, 04/05/11

Try this approach. Accept the call. Schedule an appointment and serve them a letter. I also photographed the person and the license plate of car. These people are relentless. Let them start wasting their time driving appointments. I'm pursuing the contractor legally to get him to give up the company behind this.
Dear Energy Rebate Telemarketing Company and /or Independent Contractor:

Via a rercording this "company" claims that it is doing energy research to circumvent the do not call rules. They make rotary calls which explains why you get disconnected when they call (somebody else answered before you). They tell you that you may be eligible of recieving a $3700 rebate on energy efficient appliances. This should tell people that this "company" is selling something. They try to set you up for a home inspection to see if you qualify for the rebate. You are asked to push 1 to make an appointment. The menu also has a selection to not be called any more. That is a useless option. They keep calling. We have pushed 1 on numerous occasions and told the telemarketer that we don't want them to call anymore. Now we tell them something else we can't submit on this website. What I find amazing is that they treat people without any respect with these annoying calls, but yet they expect us to do business with them after the fact. They can make their insipid phone calls, but getting into our home will be a real challenge for these nitwits.

They called my wife's cell phone number - she didn't recognize the number and did not answer. They called our homephone later - I answered it - it was a pre-recorded message: "Attention .......".
Thanks for the info, Anthony ... I also just filed a complaint against them with the FCC, http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm.

File a complaint with the FCC (I just did): http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm
If they called your cell and you're on Verizon, contact them -- they just won a permanent injunction against someone in Rhode Island for sending unsolicited marketing text messages. They don't like this stuff and they take it very seriously.
This is either outright fraud or horrible marketing practices. They called my cell phone, when I pressed 1 to "schedule an audit", I immediately asked to be removed from their list. I also mentioned I was on the do not call list AND that they had called a cell phone. They said that because they were contracted w/ the federal gov't, they were exempt from DNC registry and then they again ASKED IF I WANTED AN ENERGY AUDIT! Un-f'ing-believable.

I also have received many of these calls. Please, when you find out how to contact the company, let me know. Let everyone know.
