Somebody called and hung up right before I answered. I tried to call the number back but got a busy signal every time.

Strange person asking for my work or cell number but wont say why. (asked my wife while I was at work)

A Mr. Ealey called to ask if I would give my neighbor his name and number to have her call him since he could not get in touch with her.  I asked him for his first name.  He said he was called Mr. Ealey there.  I told him I would give her the information but it would be up to her whether she returned the call.  Since I have read the information about OPERATION DIVIS,  I will not give her the message.

A woman called from this number, and requested a return call with reference to "22aug08".  This same person called my brothers phone number and asked if I was there.  The only other reference I've seen about this number on the internet is AMEX, other than this site.  This is probably a collection company, because I had owed AMEX money, but I'm not sure they are associated with AMEX.  A lot of people have AMEX cards.  I won't call with my cell phone because I don't want them calling that number too.

This is a collection company from American Express. They originally sold my account to a lawyer who basically gave up calling, and hopefully if this company calls my ring controller for the next billionth time, they gonna give up too.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GET A RING CONTROLLER. THESE ARE SOLD ON EBAY AND THEY WORK. THEY FILTER OUT ALL THE CALLS I DONT WANT. MY PHONE BARELY RINGS NOW!!!

I KEEP GETTING CALL FROM THIS NUMBER & SEVERAL OTHERS REGARDING LATE AMEX PAYMENTS - I'M ON TRACK NOW WITH AMEX BUT THEY WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!

Weird man called from this number and said, in a very deep and low voice, that I owed a large sum of money (would not specify the exact amount) to a corporation (would not name the corporation) and that If I didn't pay, 'they' would send someone after me.

I told the man that I had no idea what he was talking about and that If he wished to tell me something, I would prefer he spoke clearly, not like a rapist. He mumbled something I could not understand and then shouted down the phone. I told him that unless he calmed down, I would not be willing to speak with him. He said sorry and, again, told me that I owed money. I asked how much and he said ABOUT $50,000. I knew this was a scam because this man could not speak clearly, despite being requested to do so, and did not have an exact amount to give me. I explained to him that he was in violation of the DNC list and that I would be reporting him to two people: The DNC, and the cops for attempted fraud. The man started yelling again and I just couldn't be bothered and slammed the phone down on him.

He then called me back about 5 minutes later saying sorry over and over again. He started going on about 'my debt'. He said that I owed $56,700 to a company called 'Foxtrot Software'. The thing is, how on Earth does one manage to purchase enough software to accumulate over $56,000 worth of debt? It's simply absurd and I did not believe a word of it. I told him that I was recording all calls and the more he tried to scam me, the deeper the hole was that he was digging himself into. The man then got VERY aggressive, threatened to set a legal team on me, threatened to find out where I lived and hurt me and even threatened to harm my family and myself until I paid this debt.

I am not pleased about any of this. This man has no right to attempt to defraud me, nor the right to threaten violence and death upon me and my family. This man, I hope, is currently under investigation by the federal law and I hope something is done about it. He has the potential to frighten a lot of old people and this is something that needs to be stopped before it escalates.

She was rude when i called back to tell her to loose the # while she triwed to insist in having my name I told her I was not the person she was looking for and my exwife no longer resides here. She said, "ok we'll update.. " I asked Id like to know where you got this # 2 years after a divorce...?  She said "thats not your business" and hung up!

Problem is: He died in March!

9043966994 calls abour 3-4x a day on each of my lines. The messages they leave are relatively innocuous but they become belligerent when you get them on the phone and ask them, per law, to validate the debt.

I don't have an AMEX card and neither does my Husband. They keep calling our home and it's ridiculous! How do I stop them from calling me???
I don't know if they are legit or scammers. I am not giving out my information to them and they are telling us that we owe them money! No way in HELL am I going to fall for this scam!!!

Check your credit report before you "answer" these calls everyone! They will try to scam you of your money, tell you that you owe money and they are collection agencies trying to get your money and yet they don't mail you a letter??!! That's a SCAM! Collection agencies will call you AND send you a mail regarding of your debt. Still, even if they did both, don't fall for it! This is a hard time, people will lie, cheat, steal, scam for money. DON'T FALL VICTIM!

Well, boys and girls, the Republican economy has forced me stop paying my bills.  I work in the Housing Industry and that means times are pretty tough for guys like me, who wear a tool belt and get dirty for a living.

Now, those boys in their nice clean suits, you know, the guys who caused this mess?  Well, they got their bail out money, yup, 1.5 Trillion in TARP funds.  They all got bonuses too!  Job well done!

Which brings us to me and my financial woes.  Actually I don't have any woes, because I am officially opting out of the rat race.  I hereby declare myself a free man and furthermore I acknowledge no debt to any man.  Color me gone, people, you can make my FICO number as low as you like because it just don't matter to me.  It's just a number.

You are calling to collect a debt?  Good luck with that.  Good luck reaching me next time because I've assigned your number to a contact on my phone named IGNORE, you know, the one with the SILENT RING TONE?  Yup, call all you want my friend, because I know that's all you can do.  Call me and try to impress me with your fake authority or your silly threats about what will happen if I don't pay.

I AM A FREE MAN.  You credit card companies can take your TARP money and party like it's 1999 but you're not getting a dime from me.  There's not a thing you can do to me, I laugh at you!

Some of you may call me a deadbeat, but I wear your scorn like a badge of honor.  The system is based upon us believing in the system, our faith in the system.  Well, I am no longer part of your system.  The game is rigged and I'm no longer playing. I am a free range man and I do not recognize you as someone I owe a debt too.

These people have been calling me and not leaving a message. They did, FINALLY, leave a message. It was from someone trying to sound authoritative and intimidating, but she pretty much came off just sounding like a regular bi***.  Turns out she is looking for someone I used to date, broke up with him in 1993!!! And somehow these stupid a***s connected me with him, and they are calling me for his debt!! A real case for harassment!

they get your cell from a number of directions.  if you have ever called them from it, they have caller id, or, they even contact relatives and friends, stating that it's important to get a hold of you.  

only return calls from numbers they already know and if you can, notify everyone you know not to offer any information.  and change your voice mail to not using your own name, just politely asking them to leave a message.  your friends all know you and will.

i had a friend who ultimately had to change his cell number.  for me i check the caller id and program them in, works for everyone except the sly ones who block their number or are "unknown", but i never answered either of those anyway.

they can get rude and insulting to intimidate you into trying to pay the debt they are collecting.  what a lot of people don't understand is that very few of those who are trouble nowadays are actually deadbeats, they simply fell on bad times and don't have money anymore.  

frankly, i like paying bills, it means i have money.

AMEXDefector...what happened regarding your account??  Did they file a judgement against you?  They are driving me crazy with phone calls from 8 to 9 pm at home, work, and cell number.  Not sure how they got my cell.  Any helpful suggestions anyone??

I have a balance due on my AMEX card, and the reference that was left was for a DATE only.  They do not say who they are or why they are calling.  I seached this number on the internet, and found a reference to AMEX, so I am supposing this is why they are calling.  They called my brothers house asking for me, and did not say why they are calling, so someone has been on background seach, obviously.  I'm not calling them with my cell phone, because I don't want them on it.  I don't have long distance on my house phone, and they don't leave one for a return call, so guess what.  I'm not going to call.  The above statements have been most informative.

I've got calls three of four time a day from this number after reading some of he posting I now know it is American Express I called amex several time and explained that due to tow open heart surgeries this year I lost my job and that after having an account with thej for 20 year I was not abole to pay they my last payment was for $700.00. And then they (Ames) raied my finance charge from 17% to 30%so I just started not answer the calls but they still haress me

This is just ridiculous I receive anywhere from 10 to 12 calls per day from this company called Operation Division. I don't even bother answering the phone because I know that it is a collection agency calling and at this moment I don't have the funds to pay them. They call first thing in the morning at 8 a.m. sharp and don't stop until around 10 p.m. at night to me it seems like they are harassing me but don't get me wrong I do understand that I have this debt and they just want to get paid. But it comes a point where this is sort of like stalking and harassment. It also got to the point where now that call and it comes up on my caller ID as unknown name and unknown number very clever but I'm a little smarter than that. And another thing if they are going to continue to call like this the least they can do is leave a message on my answering machine as to why they are calling they have the nerve to listen to my whole greeting message and then hang up how immature!

This is too funny...I too had NUMEROUS calls from Mrs. Grubbs on my cell phone.  They literally called me 8 times a day at work.  I had an outstanding amount on my AMEX for like $2600.00 and I had arranged to pay the balance in full with my IRS return check this month (March).  They STILL called me every single day...I guess it was a friendly little reminder that they are still there breathing down my neck until my check arrived.  I called and informed her that I did not receive my IRS check yet, but I still had complete intentions of paying this off - and told her that I was looking as forward to getting AMEX off my back as they are to getting me off of their "Call" list. Finally, today I called and paid the whole balance off and to what did my wondering eyes did appear????  Tehy are still calling me.  Yep.  I JUST got a phone call from AMEX - no message - just a call.  I didn't answer, but I guess I should have. So, this goes to prove that whoever it was above that said you will "never resolve your account".....sadly, I think that may be the truth.  This SUCKS.

The call is either from American Express or the collection agency they use called G C Services. I quit answering after the first complete conversation I had with them. I explained my rights as I knew were correct to a gentleman whose name I forget and his supervisor, Mrs. Grubbs, who quickly seemed to be displeased that I had knowledge she wasn't expecting to hear and then became fairly combative. Not only did Mrs. Grubbs soon hang up on me, she actually told me I was not going to resolve my account. Why they would continue calling back if one of their representatives actually said the words "you are not going to resolve this account" I have not a clue. I guess they are glutens for continual rejection.
