But don't be scared. Just work out a settlement.

called left message saying due to privacy and security info that they can't leave detailed info and that I had 24 hours to get back to them yet they leave that message every other day

How can I stop these people from calling me? I don't even know how they got my number in the first place.

Same as most of the other posts except that the message gave a referance number and an extension that this person "Recardo Gordon"  ext. 6932 can be reached. I called back and it said that the message machine is full and when I tried the extension, the message said no such extension exists.
But....the weird thing is that it was for my Dad. (My Dad passed away several years ago!)

Other times they said if I wanted to be removed from list I needed to press 1.I did and they asked for my name and to verify my address and then they have told me they are a collection agency looking for unpaid bills

I received several calls for somebody else from this number.  
When I called back, I found out that it was a collection agency called Global Credit & Collection.  
I found there website ( http://www.globalcollection.net/Consumers.aspx ) and contacted their main number.
They told me that they would remove my phone number from their files, and they did.

I also got a call from 1-905-413-8676. It says "this is not a solicitor, press 1."

I received several calls from these guys..
When I called back to find out what these guys wanted,
I was told that I had an old credit card bill that I never paid.
When I looked into it, it turns out that they were right (oops!).  
I was able to settle my account for half the amount owing.

I have been getting calls too from that number and when I did answer, they insisted on me giving them personal information before revealing who they were and why they were calling.  I told them to contact my debt management number and talk to them.  The person speaking said they would call me back the next day and hung up.  I do not have any debts that are not being managed, so why would they be calling me?

Nothing was sent to me though...The interesting thing is that they call my work phone number, my home phone number and my cell at exactly the same moment of time.

I got a call from this number and they left a message on my voicemail that said: ?For your privacy and security Canadian laws prohibits me from leaving more detailed information on a voice recording. Please call us at 1 877 234-2310 to discuss this time sensitive matter immediately; again the number is 1 877 234-2310; and the hours and 9 -5 daily.?
