Please stop calling . I suspect you are looking for the person that owned my cell phone number before me. It has been my number since February 2014. I keep getting calls looking for " Fernando", and another Spanish sounding name. Please stop calling my cell and home phone, which rang at the SAME TIME at 10:15 am AST today, Thurs April 10 2014. This is becoming harassment and a nuisance .

Good one. You caught Polly writing her fiction. :D I personally don't have any sympathy for anyone who had made 6 figures for the last 10 years. So you're telling us you made at least 100k a year, for 10 years = $1 million. Sure, 50% goes to taxes (if you were honest) which you still should have half a million dollars. If you pissed it away and didn't prepare for the recession, that's your problem. So all the money went towards the mortgage, guess what, you bought a house that was too expensive and lived beyond your means.

this person called me three times one morning and would not identify whom they were ...she kept saying/asking for a person with a diffrent first name but had my last name for some reason...she was quite rude so I hung up the phone

I also received  call from  1 905 688 9877    asking for  someone  with similar name to mine  and I told her  no one here by that name. Not the first time I got this call. She said she was  from credit agency trying to trace  a person for bad  debts.

Well you are one of the lucky ones. I told them the same thing and they still keep calling me.They will be charged with harassment if they call me again. I have never talked to such rude people,they talk down to people they call you liars and keep playing games. This Leslie girl called me 5 times in 5 minutes. I just keep hanging up by they don't care who they harass. I have cancer and don't have much energy some days and today is one of those days. She has called 3 times already. Time to call my lawyer I guess. Well good luck people!

They keep calling me, and I owe them nothing. They don't like the word no...just block their number and tell them the next call to them will be from a lawyer for harrasment. Good Luck!

If you say it is costing you everytime you call, I assume you are using a cellphone.  If you were fortunate enough to actually have a smart phone you could download a call blocker for free which I use for any number with the 1905 prefix.  The App is Call Filter. and is free to use and saves the headache of dealing with them, you can even block the last caller.

Try this send them invoice for say $30.00 dollars for a hour or part. For every time the call. In writing for wasting your time. Then sell the account to a collection agency or Write them to remind them. Every 30 days. Raising up their payable to you. By $30.00. Until the pay.

Polly P.P. You could start a new career as a fiction writer. Sell your home. That is why it's considered a good investment, because it's not as volatile as the stock market, and people will always need a place to
live. Don't speak with debt collector agencies. The original companies you owed payment to have sold your 'account' for pennies on the dollar. Paying them even $50 will not reinstate once stellar credit. In fact, if your name ends up on one of these lists, as it has, then you can pretty well expect phone calls from every agency that 'buys' this list for at least 10 years to come. And .... good to know, every time you connect with one of them directly - either by picking up the government-allotted window (2-6 yrs) for the collection agency to pursue you starts over again. I know these slippery characters change their numbers all the time, but get Call Display - so once you've had a message from them, you won't pick up accidentally again.

Know your rights!

Check the debt, is it still valid? If it has been more than 2 years then the SoL to sue is passed.. If it is 6 or more years old, is is Stat Barred.

Make sure you know your rights, google Ontario Debt collection act and read, read and read!

Scumbag debt collectors.

They call themselves Ontario Credit Bureau and MJR.  I keep getting voice messages from 8 am to 8:47 pm from them.  The same number comes up with messages claiming they are Ontario Credit Bureau one day and the next they are MJR.  

I have called them many times asking who they are looking for and they keep saying a name that is nothing near my family or any relatives last name.  When I tell them the number must have belonged to that person in the past, they get very rude and say I am lying to get out of paying the amount.  That they will have to take me to court.

I am right now at the point of changing my number to a private one.  Which isnt right because it will cost me money to do that and the hassle of letting all my REAL relatives know it and friends.  

Guess you got one of the nicer ones to speak to.  I still havent found one there yet.  They probably fired that one.

Anyway they called and left a message asking if I knew someone. I called back and told the woman who had called that I didn't know the person. She said she would remove my number. It's been two weeks now and I haven't gotten a single call back.

No idea why people seem to be making up stories here about them calling several times a day etc. Calling back and telling the truth solved my problem just fine...and no one was rude to me at all.

Yes, once they called me and said I owned a house. they don't really have correct information. Just don't bother.

This number has called my place at least 3 times a day looking for someone that doesnt even live hear Myself and husband have told them a numerous amount of times let that person doesnt live here and they STILL continue to call. The calling stopped for about a week but I just received a call today but missed it I think I'm gonna threaten them with harrassment!!!!
It is a Collection Agency called MJR Collections and every one of them are dicks!!! I have talked to a few and they are EXTREMLY rude!!!!!

Are collection agencies allowed to call a previous place of employment?  They called a former boss this morning and asked him how to reach me...  yes, I'm a little embarrassed....

I spoke to a woman "Mrs Turnbull", she was one of the more pleasant ones...  I told her my unfortunate situation, yet after telling her I am alone and very close to losing my home she still asked me if i could borrow $50 from someone to make a payment to them. I choked backed the tears and told her if I was going to ask someone for $50 it would be to feed myself.  She followed up with "have you considered bankruptcy?"   At that moment, I wished the earth would just swallow me up.  

It's a frightening situation to be in when you're used to making 6 figures for the last 10 years, didn't save much cuz I slapped almost every extra penny on my mortgage (I was told that was the smartest thing to do!!), had to cash in all my RRSP's to try to keep up with minimum payments.  I've applied to hundreds of jobs at the career centre, called every contact I know... apparently I am too qualified??   I've sold most of my belongings, I had rent my house out and move in with a friend because I can't afford the mortgage payments now that I have used all my RRSP's/savings.  I'm collecting bottles to feed myself for goodness sake.   Her call used up 10 minutes on my prepaid cellphone (necessary for my job hunt) - that $3 call would have bought me 10 lbs of potatoes which would feed me for almost a month.  

Everyone's got a story... and mine is pretty common these days.   I wish people making these types of calls could be more empathetic... cuz if I was the least bit suicidal these are the convo's that push people over the edge unfortunately.

Yeah I get this number on my Cell phone at least 2 times a day, they've called before looking for the last person who had my number and I told them there was no such person but they still keep calling me back and they are extremely rude!

It is a collection agency. Just bugs me because I'm charged for them calling me everytime I pick up grrrrr.
