DENVER ? Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that an Arapahoe County District Court judge has ordered Tyrone E. Tymkovich (DOB: 12/30/1977) of Aurora to pay $160,000 after he violated a Feb. 18, 2010 order barring him from soliciting businesses as a broker.

According to the contempt judgment, Tymkovich admitted to continuing to solicit businesses using the alias ?Adam Smith? for a New Jersey based company, HDI Consultants.  The contempt judgment permanently bars Tymkovich from continuing any solicitation or sales of his broker services. Tymkovich also admitted to failing to make proper disclosures while acting as a business broker, including that ?the likelihood of (Tymkovich) selling a business is less than one out of a hundred based on past performance? and ?that [Tymkovich?s] company has generated more than $2.8 million in revenue from monies collected for valuations, yet it has earned less than $100,000 from actual sales of businesses.?

The Office of the Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Tymkovich, and Sam Levine (DOB: 2/1/1967) of Castle Rock on suspicion that they, through their two Englewood-based businesses, defrauded more than 700 businesses in Colorado and other states between July 2006 and September 2009. According to the complaint, Tymkovich, Levine or their employees at Englewood-based Corporate Acquisitions Group and Englewood-based Global Acquisitions Group would approach small businesses and inform them that either buyers were interested in acquiring their firms or their businesses could be sold. Tymkovich, Levine and their employees are accused of convincing more than 700 businesses in Colorado and other states to allow them to conduct an appraisal of their business for $5,000. Of the $5,000 Tymkovich and Levine?s businesses collected from their clients, only about $1,000 of the fee was actually devoted to completing the appraisals.

Tymkovich and Levine also are alleged to given the clients a money-back guarantee in the event of no sale occurring. However, Tymkovich and Levine only followed through when a business complained to either the Better Business Bureau or the authorities, according to the complaint.

I received a phone call at 7:58pm last night (5/4/10)  (after hours) from a Jim Kilroy from HDI Consultants. He said he has an interested buyer for this company in this Wisconsin area. He used the number 908-795-1608. I then researched the number on the web and came across this page. Thank you so much for posting your run-ins with him.

The Colorado AG is currently bringing charges against the individuals involved for defrauding over 700 businesses in the US by selling overpriced valuations, and promises of money back guarantees.

I got a message from Jim Kilroy. He said they have an interested party looking to purchase a business like mine. Sounds fishy on several accounts so I searched it on the net and got here. His call back number is 908 795 1608. "Kilroy" the felon was here!

I received a call today from Jim Kilroy or Gilroy of HDI with "interested buyer" for business like mine in my area.  Doesn't appear to know what my business is.  The number he used is (908) 795 1608.

Mr. "KIlroy" and Co. are still at it as of mid-April 2010...

Same thing as everyone else.  HDI Consulting called wanting to purchase a business, but didn't even say name of business and we own several.  Seemed odd so googled it.  Called himself Jim, but we won't be calling back.  Thanks for the information.  Sue from Wisconsin.

Received a call from HDI and they left a message asking if we wanted to sell our business for the right price, thank you for the heads up on the previous messages. Sounded fishing calling "out of the blue", and the way he said Wisconsin, that alone sounded fishy.

We also received a call after hours last night (2/23) but the name the caller gave was "Jim Kilroy" ... Call came from 908-997-0065 (caller ID) and he asked that it be returned to 908-444-9671.

Received an after hours call from Jim Carwell with HDI Consulting informing me that an entity was interesting in purchasing my business. Searched the number which led me here. Thank you  Michael Hand and Jim Kilroy for the insightful information.

HDI Consulting, Arsis Advisory Group, Bridgepoint Business Advisers, and Bizbuy123.com are all part of an integrated scam system, and just part of the many sock puppet business entities created by Ty Tymkovich, Sam Levine, David Silverman, and Justin Davis.  On 12/18/09 the Attorney General of Colorado filed a motion charging them with defrauding over 700 small business across the US over the last 3 years.

Received a message on my answering machine regarding selling my business.  
After research learned this company is probably most interested in selling you a 'price analysis' report.  From what I understand this report is a few thousand dollars.  I suppose they hook a few people with this angle.  What their doing isn't probably really illegal although the tactic seems borderline bait and switch.  HDI is an accredited BBB member, but anyone who owns a business knows if you send the BBB 150 bucks a year, you can be "accredited" and then as long as nobody files a complaint that you don't resolve they leave you A+ rated and charge another 150 the next year.

Received call after hours on answering machine about selling my business. Odd that a ligit broker would call after business hours (first red flag). Sounded like a recorded message (second red flag). Googled the name of HDI Consultants and the phone number & came across all of you! (third red flag). Sounds like a scam, probably is a scam. I will not be returning the phone call. Phone number he left was 908-444-9671 with a name of Jim Carwell in the beginning and Jim Caraway at the end of the message (fourth red flag).
