She is still at it as of 12 December 2010 - Beware of this individual as they are sneaky and a blatant fraud.  She tried to buy something I had listed.

We received the exact response to our rental on craiglist.

Just got the same reply that everyone did regarding rehoming an animal off of Craigslist. I noticed the area code was not local.  What is sad is that if I wouldn't have seen this info. I would of went ahead with the process. Thank goodness I didn't. Keep up the good work in keeping up with these scammers.

He will probably send you a fake check. DO NOT CASH IT!! You will be responsible if it bounces, and it will.It's a SCAM. Do not be fooled by these people.When they sent me a check, there was no return address on the envelope. I have now contacted the FBI. They have a cyber division to deal with these scams.

This guy emailed me about my car, said he would start making payments. Gave him the address wasn't sure if it was a scam or not. What happens since I gave him my address?

Thomas Smith emailed me to rent a house I have in Puerto Rico. (see my previous entry's). The funny part of that email is that it is the EXACT same email I received a week ago from Amber Cohen. Same address, phone number and same request, cut and pasted to a new email. These scammer's are idiots!!

Red flags went up with the crime rate question, as well as the move in fees, as this is a weekly rental house. And believe it or not, this person is still leading me on, telling me the check is in the mail.

This person also gave me a phone number in the UK, which I am unable to check.

This is a big fraud using Craiglist postings to generate kickback on a cashiers check.
A so called Terry pack wants to rent my cabin for his honeymoon and his wifes employer is sending a check for rent as a wedding present.
The catch , he notifies you that the employer accidently sent their travel and food expenses and is asking for a cashiers check fo the rent difference from the cashiers check amount.
Postings are right..if you deposit a travelers check..they are not guaranteed by the bank for fourteen days and these scam artists want a money order back at once. Do not do it!!!!

I am asking them for their address and that I will return and they can write the right amount to me...They will disappear after that.

One More thing selling on craigslist, never give out your ADDRESS TILL YOU GET A LOCAL PHONE NUMBER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you can call them to make sure who they are. You can and will take a chance of getting robbed. You are the one who needs to be proactive. Any local buyer will give you there info, if not just do not try to sell, craigslist as a whole is safe but there are scammers all over, pretty MUCH CHECK PEOPLE OUT

I forgot to you rental persons renting your home if you get a cashiers, and they cancel and give you some line of CRAP that they need a refund due to any reason put it in your contract no refunds for 60 days no matter what if you do not want to get screwed. Check out person renting with a fine tooth comb my other post has this in it. scams are getting BIG. I'm trying to adopt a bird on craigs list and some SOB is sending this----- There are listing for  rental homes with same number in PA  and other places --- that and I do not have anything for sale, we all need to keep posting this warning on craigslist and other places ITS A VERY BIG SCAM  and people are going to be takin on this. They must be makling millions to keep doing this. I'm going to put up a web site for reporting scams - seeing how the goverment won't get off its A%% and do anything I got taken almost 5 years ago for $11,000 since then I got real smart. That and I called the Big goverment offices. There responce was We lost a guy overseas trying to track this down. I'm sorry they lost a guy.At same time there is no place to go once your taken, fair warning any checks you get hold 30 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER SEND NEXT DAY ON CASHIERS CHECKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR BANK WILL CASH THEM THINKING THERE GOOD AND TRUST ME NO MATTER WHAT ITS YOUR FAULT READ YOUR BANK CONTRACT NEVER SHIP TILL YOU GET CASH IN HAND AND ITS CLEAR THE BANKING RESERVE IT TAKES 14 days before bank knows its a fake.

Thanks tree, this basically confirms my suspicions since I also got the same info from them. I also verified the zip code and area code and do not match the address, which I also noted was spelled incorrectly. Hope this helps on not letting anyone else get scammed by these a***oles. There is a lot of this going on through the internet and we need to keep watch.
