How come nobody every talks about class action suits on these forums?  It's simple, but I think 800notes keeps deleting my comments...

If Charter is calling your cell phone (not landline) without your express consent, you can start a class action under the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act).

I am being represented in a TCPA case by the IHateTelemarketing attorneys:
http://ihatetelemarketers.com

Highly recommend speaking with them if you're willing to be a class rep.

I've been receiving calls from this number for the past week everyday, sometimes twice a day while I'm at work.  After seeing that people were saying it was Charter (I'm a customer), I called their service number (not the 909) and asked to be removed from their call lists.  The operator was great and went over everything she was doing.  She told me it would only require 72 hours for the do not call to go into effect, so if I'm receiving calls after they're fraudulent.  She asked if they did continue to call back and report the number.

I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize -- especially in a part of the country that I have no reason to expect a call from.

It's Charter Communications.  I have high speed internet with them, but nothing else.  They call me every 3 weeks to try to get me to upgrade to their 'triple play' deal, which I have no interest in.  I keep telling them #1 I DON'T EVEN HAVE A TELEVISION.  They don't seem to care.  And #2, I have a prepaid cellphone that I put 30 minutes on each month, because that's all I need to be able to stay in contact with dr. offices, parents in another state, grandchildren who may want to spend a little time with me.  I don't like talking on the phone.  I use it strictly to make plans to see people in person.  Calls typically last 2-3 minutes.

Last time they called, I told them they could come hook me up with their best cable package, as long as they bring me a brand new flat screen HDTV to hook the cable TO.  The guy hung up on me.  Today, I said, "so you have a brand new flat screen HDTV for me?  When are you going to bring it to me?"  The guy said "no, we'll hook up the cable to your existing tv."  And I told him I haven't had a television of any kind since 2005, but as I've mentioned before, I'll be happy to hook up to your cable if you provide the tv.  This guy hung up on me too.  Yet they still keep calling!  I wish I could figure out how to block this call on my cell phone.

I'm not even a Charter Cable subscriber and I get calls almost every day from them.  I've never answered one so I have no idea if they are calling me to solicit or if they are calling the people who had the number before me.

From what I've heard about the horrible service it's no wonder they need to constantly bug people to buy it.

i just don't answer the phone. i use vonage (happy with it) and only use charter (overpriced at 55 a month) for internet. if at&t would get off their 150gb monthly limit, i would use them again. i had their 3-5mb service, and using streaming on internert and never had a problem. but with their limits, i would go over and still probably have a bill as big as charters.

unfortunately, these internet companies are big givers to congress, so don't ever expect any help there. wish there was more competition. i like the idea of some of the satellite providers, but they limit you to just 15gb or so. it's a racket.

I received a call from this number two days in a row now. Both times I answered and the person on the other end either can't hear or ignores me and hangs up on purpose. Keep calling and I'll cancel my Charter service.

I have the same thing happen. They call me to help me "save" money. Right now i pay 29.99 for internet only. Then have netflix that my mom pays for.  But they want to save me money by upgrading to internet and tv for 89.99 or something like that a month. Ya how does that save me money. they harrass me and call me every month. then it gets to be 5-6 times a month if i don't answer. So i just answer and tell them I don't want it. If i had another option where I live to get internet I would switch just not to be harrassed anymore.

Just got the call while at work (did NOT answer), and with the previous call just five weeks prior, I expect to ask Charter to immediately remove the number from their marketing lists. Did not answer, pending my research, and found it's the same number as before, it had originated from Pennsylvania, about 50 miles from an Amish neighborhood.

Well, well, well, what do we have here? A telemarketing shill spouting off Federal Law?
Since DNC, all non-compliant telemarketing calls are illegal All Day, and All Night!
The State and Federal violations go on, and on.
You are also most likely violating your own State Corporation Laws, and credit card processing fraud. (credit card laundering).
That in addition to violating TCPA, TSR and the RICO Act-
Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act U.S.C. Title 18, Chapter 96 § 1962:

Sections 891-894 (relating to extortionate credit transactions), section 1028 (relating to fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents), section 1029 (relating to fraud and related activity in connection with access devices),?
Section 1 of Pub. L. 91-452 provided in part that: "The Congress finds that (1) organized crime in the United States is a highly sophisticated, diversified, and widespread activity that annually drains billions of dollars from America's economy by unlawful conduct and the illegal use of force, fraud, and corruption;

By Federal law, phone solicitations can only be made between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. the consumer's local time. If you receive a solicitation call outside of those hours, be sure the calling agent is aware of your local time, and you will file a complaint on any such call received outside of those hours.

Very likely the calls were made with an automatic dialer, which typically results in a few seconds of silence occurs before the calling agent receives the active call at that end. Next time you receive a such call, wait for the caller to respond, then ask if an automated dialer is used to call your cell phone; if so, be sure to state that a cell phone number is reached, and the FCC mandates that each call to a cell number be dialed manually. This is effective Oct. 16, 2013. Also, as I call such numbers, I do occasionally hear outgoing messages similar to: "If you're a solicitor, please remove this number from your list".

Had mistakenly answered the call without first checking my Caller ID (was expecting my sister to call). What a big mistake it was. As an existing Charter customer, was offered a cable TV service (for which I have very little time to watch) with free installation plus a new promotion on my internet service. After three refusals, the call was transferred to a supervisor who took about ten minutes to persuade me to authorize the cable install, apparently having started a work order (withOUT my approval) with a set available date for me. I do outbound calls for Charter to offer similar promotions, and believe the $ale$ pressure given to me on this call is beyond reason. ALWAYS check your Caller ID BEFORE answering a call.

Does no good even though you asked to be put on their Do Not Call List and fill out the form.Next time Charter calls, put a blast of the blowhorn at the phone....or blow a whistle extra loud.  Maybe then they will get the message not to call customers anymore.  I used that the last time they called me and have not received any more calls in 4 months

Charter, would you please have a NO-CALL list and use it when requested by callees.
Observe the national DO NOT CALL list as well as the state DO NOT CALL lists.
You are telemarketing and it is illegal.  You have not explicitly obtained my permission to pester me with calls after repeated requests to stop!
