This guy sent me a check over the summer and used a check to pay me that was worth a lot more than the item was worth and said he would send someone to my house to get the extra money. It was a bit sketch so I sent the items into the police department for investigation. The guy was trying to steal money from a poor old woman in Illinois.

They send you a check for more than the item(s) is worth and wants you to cash the check immediately. Then they want you to wire the excess money within 48 hrs to a third party, usually someone they claim is picking up the item. You wire the money, no one shows up and a few days later you get notified by your bank that the check is bogus. You have now lost the money you wired plus the returned check fee from your bank and you still have not sold your item(s).

This is a nigerian scam from Craigslist. He will lie to you, steal from you, and get you to send him money through western union. GOOGLE - NIGERIAN SCAM
This guy is one of them... BEWARE!!!!
