I don't care who this is, the woman who called sounded like she had the phone in her mouth and was asking for someone who doesn't work here. When she tried to verify the number I told her that she didn't dial the number she repeated to me, and that there was no one here by that name. And then the snotty woman tried to tell me I was wrong, and that the number she dialed belonged to who she was asking for! No, I said, there is no one here by that name. She became even more rude and asked me to transfer her to HR. I told her again that there is no one here by that name. When she asked me who she was speaking to, I simply told her the name of the company. She kept asking me for my name and I kept telling her I am the receptionist and she had the wrong number and ended the call.

Yes, this is the American Red Cross. I just called them back at this number, and the young lady was very nice. I gave blood a couple of months ago, and she said that my blood type was the kind that can go to anyone (O-), so she wanted to encourage me to re-give.
I specifically aked her is anything "wrong" was going on, and she said "No,' it was just a sales call to get me to re-give.

This number called me at 4:30am!! Very rude. No message either!
kenpo4christ 2011-08-15 22:31:57 Unknown
They called twice no message. If the knew anything about customer service they would start leaving messages.

It's the American Red Cross. I guess they're trying to burn through my cell minutes.

Why don't they leave a message? I got two calls tonight less than an hour apart - AND I already have an appt. tomorrow to donate. Makes you wonder who is running this organization. This can't possibly be the best use of the Red Cross's operating budget.

That's correct, it is the Red Cross asking for blood donations.

They are annoying. I've told them before never to call me again, and they still do. I will donate blood, but never
Asdf 2010-02-22 18:42:25 Unknown
Why don't you just pick up the phone?
Michellene 2010-01-12 23:42:03 Unknown
They call and don't leave a message. It is annoying in that regard and would be regardless of the caller. I donate blood on a regular basis in San Diego so if this is the Red Cross calling from 909 - I would recommend they leave a message so I can call back with an understanding of why I was called in the first place.

If this is the Red Cross I will be disappointed.

C'mon people, ease up. They're not like telemarketers. This really is for a good cause.

I agree with the ANNOYING part. They call me 3 to 4 times PER DAY, EVERY DAY at times that I am not available to answer. Either leave a message or don't bother to call. And no matter how desperately they need blood, there is no reason to call me EVERY. SINGLE. DAY... I know how to make an appt. And when I stop being sick, I'll do so.

Indeed, I got a call at work also. The funny part is that they usually call me the day before I donate to remind me of my appointment. But today wehen they called, it was the VERY day of my scheduled appointment... actually only a few hours away! Sometimes I get the feeling that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at the Red Cross!

I keep getting called by that phone number too! And it is annoying, because they don't leave messages! I was panicking that they were going to tell me I had STDs or something and couldn't donate (I have an anxiety disorder, so even though there's no reason for me to have STDs I worry about having them). I'm very glad to hear that number is about blood donation appointments, and not "BAD NEWS". It makes sense for them to call me so much today then, as I have an appointment tomorrow!
It'd be nice if they left a message instead of calling multiple times. Having blood services call you without leaving a message is terrifying! They really shouldn't do that. They should make it clear it's not something that will prevent you from donating in the future.

They are not being annoying. They either call you to remind you of your appointment to donate blood or ask you to make an appointment if you are on their database since you gave blood in the past. Just answer the phone and all will be fine! Those are the only times they have ever called me.

My caller ID reports this number as the Red Cross, which is true. However, they call 2-3 times daily and are very annoying!
