My question is, Does T-mobile give out lists of numbers? Seems I get a lot of scam text messages on this carrier. Not on Verizon.
| Concerned Citizen 2011-06-06 21:06:55 Unknown |
I called T-mobile and complained that I not only received this fraudulent text message but also that I now have to pay T-mobile for receiving a text message. T-mobile told me they were unable to help me and I should call the police! They said their fraud dept. only deals with messages that pretend to be from T-mobile customer service. The rep said perhaps the message was meant for whoever had my cellphone number before me. I said that was not likely since many others have reported this scam message and I've had this cellphone number for several years. I also don't understand how the message got through to my cellphone since I've set up a filter blocking all text messages. The text message from caller 5000 reads: "Notice/ This is an automated message from Bank-Fund Staff F.C.U. Your ATM card has been suspended. To reactivate, call urgent at 1-909-978-6050."

I got the same text today, but it gave me 1-202-729-8214.

Just got the text message last night at around 1030pm. I contacted my cellphone provider. They are aware, but unfortunately they are unable to block the sender from doing this. The best thing to do, is to keep reporting and do not give out any information. :)

THIS IS A SCAM!!!! DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER!! If you receive this message report it immediately to both your phone carrier as well as your local police/sheriff department and/or the FBI. If you call the numebr given it asks for your 16 digit bank account number. The number is distributed by Mpower Communications Corps in Diamond Bar, CA, but listed as "unpublished".
