Ya they have more than the 910-219-3294 they also have 910-219-0684 and 910-333-8308 and 910-219-3348 I have blocked them all and they just use a different number and I live in Wilmington.

Wish I had googled before I called them.  Most likely some kind of scan.  For me $25 gift card in return for a "free" water analysis.  No thanks.

I have received two calls recently- one at dinner time which I ignored, and the other one tonight at 8:50 which is what led me to look them up. I am putting kids to bed at 8:50. Ridiculous.

Same here, I live in Wilmington and received this same letter, hand written on the envelope. Thx for all the input, throwing it out now.

Called the number and its Elite Water Co, they'll test your water and give you a coupon book and a sales pitch. I agree their way of getting their business out there is annoying and "scam-y" looking. (No letter head, business name,etc) Not sure who is selling our information, but I wouldn't jump to assuming it is ONWASA considering that isn't who services my area, just bills me and I never got this the last two places I lived. Scientific Water and Sewer does. I already know the water down here is horrible but I might let them come out and entertain me/waste their time.

A legitimate business would not soliciit business without the use of its name and its purpose made apparent.

I'd say it can't be Eastern Pines; the cardS didn't come addressed the way my billing is with them.

Don't blame ONWASA. I got one in Wilmington. Addressses can be got lots of ways including online tax records in each county. My was hand addressed. Slick.

Got the same exact card, called only to get a machine. Didn't leave a message, not calling back. If a business can't even use a return address or letterhead then I can't be bothered with them. I mean really, if you're going to buy my info at least invest in some stationary so your scam won't be so freakin' obvious.

Just received the same material as everyone here has posted, I live in Greenville, NC. I find this incredibly annoying and would also like to know where they are getting their contact data from...

Got the same card today. We have our water with Cape Fear Public Utility Authority. With their financial problems, I'm convinced they are selling their info.

Received card saying "We have a parcel for you" call 910-219-3294.  Definitely a scam -- no return address, no real attempt to contact me. Definitely mass mailed.

received the same sneaky card in mail...recycled it. Kinetico water filter company is ligit and will test your water for free and be honest about what you really need or don't need. http://www.kinetico.com The rep who came out to our house was so nice and genuine and told us we didn't really need anything unless we really wanted to eliminate chlorine completely by using a whole house de-chlorinator...no pressure...only good info

It's not truly a scam. It is a way to come to test your water, (which will of course not be perfect), then they will give you a hard sell pitch to buy either a water purifier system or get on their bottled water home delivery service. Both are more expensive than people really need, but as soon as they convince you how bad your water is, a lot of people fall for it. We got the same exact card and did not call because we knew it was some kind of hard sales tactic. It's easiest just to throw it away.

I agree.  After reading blogs, this is a scam!  I got the card in the mail today.

This is the card that I recieved in the mail today. I am not about to call them.

Got a card in the mail saying they have been trying to contact me by phone they have a parcel for me to pick up....yadda, yadda, yadda.

Interesting that it was addressed to my real name, which is not used for anything, not even the deed to my home or tax records....the only thing that is in my real name is the water bill from ONWASA, seems to me that those that provide us with the crappy water we get is selling their customer data.

I just got the same card from the same person

We received a card in the mail concerning a parcel that they have the person to ask for was Kate Jones.
i tried a couple of time to call her but only got a machine.

I was told that a lady by the name of Jones was unable to contact me by phone so they sent me a note in the mail telling me that they have a parcel for me to pick up with a parcel #.  I haven't even bothered to phone because I know its a scam.  I'm home most of the time so why would they have a hard time contacting me by phone.  If someone does contact me more than 3 times after I tell them from the beginning I'm not interested its harrassment and I usually try to press charges.

Seems like a scam, they offered me $100 gift card if they could check my water.
