I'm so glad this info was posted. This person is doing the same SCAM with a property that is listed for sale at 43360 Corte Almeria in Temecula.

I texted him and he said he's in IN and will send the keys once a deposit is received.

Just received a call from a client inquiring about 33377 Alagon Temecula CA 92592 being for rent. This home is actually in escrow.  The scammer's aliases were actually the names of the owners listed on title.  This is equally alarming.
Many real estate sites allows agents and private parties to input their own listing/rental information.  This is an open door to scammers and ultimately debilitates the sites credibility.
My advice to anyone looking to rent a home.... Always utilize a search engine, Bing, Google, etc., to search the telephone number and email address.  If it is a scam, it will most likely show up in the search.
I am grateful that this Marine Corp family contacted me before falling victim to a scam.

This number is from a scammer who tried to get me to wire him money for a deposit on a home in Palm Springs that is listed for sale.  He would never give me real contact information so I knew it was fishy. Don't believe anything you hear from this number.  SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!

Wow. I was so close to believing this guy because I really wanted to rent this house and trusted that hot pads.com was a reputable site.  The home would have been perfect for me and my family (and the price, of course, was way below what the property would normally rent for) but I guess I should have realized when something sounds too good to be true, IT USUALLY IS.  I got the same story that sounded like the "owner" was a "God fearing Christian" man who even said he was a pastor and that he couldn't show the interior of the home because he was in Ohio.  He even sent me what looked like a 'homemade' rental agreement. Would never give me a real number to contact him on and finally texted me from this 910-250-9276 number.  Good thing I'm not that dumb a blonde.

DON'T trust this phone number 910-250-9276. It's a SCAM. My house was listed for sale, but it got posted as a rental. I looked up the phone number and it looks like it's some scammers wanting to get people to wire them money. So BE CAREFUL and DON'T fall for it.

Good thing I check first, almost got fooled. Here's their message regarding a property for rent that we were inquiring:
"I want you to know that am currently now in Chicago IL with my family for my new business and i will be sending you the keys from here to see the inside once you are ready to proceed with my rental plan and put down the deposit asap to secure the house.."

IF YOU HAVE SEARCHED FOR AN EMAIL OR PHONE NUMBER - AND IT CAME UP IN YOUR SEARCH RESULTS - IT'S A SCAM!

Active Example:
- A new home was put on the market for sale, 5239 Malcolm St, Oceanside CA 92056

- Scammers from Nigeria created a Rental Listing in Postlets.com using ALL OF THE EXACT SAME PHOTOS from the new listing.

- The Postlets.com website will then take that new listing and send it to many other rental websites such as Trulia, Zillow, Hotpad.com and others.

- Scammers put their email address and a phone number in the REMARKS SECTION of the advertisement.

- You call or email the Scammers asking about the property that should rent for $2200 per month, that is offered for rent for only $1,300 per month. (HUGE RED FLAG)

- The phone number is an out of state phone number, and email is Hotmail or Yahoo.  You're NOT DEALING WITH A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL REAL ESTATE AGENT.

- The Scammer has a story that they're out of the country, they will rent it to you (along with anyone who calls) if you wire transfer them a security deposit.  Send over a security deposit, and the property is yours.  ( The property will not be yours, but the money will be theirs.  AND as soon as Western Union sends the money, it's gone for good )

- DO NOT LET TEXTING FOOL YOU - Services on the internet can create a number in the USA that ANYONE can text to and from with a USA Phone Number.  You think they're in the United States, but they're in Africa, outside the jurisdiction of the United States.
