Too bad, if you do obey them and call them or visit the website, all your doing is passing along contact confirmation about you, your phone, your ISP, and your location. Bad move!!  :(

Even outbound B2C call centers with autodial ability or outsourced number mill services who claim immunity from some Department of Justice / Federal Trade Commission rules about telemarketing practices are nevertheless still subject to comply with regulations enforceable by that Federal Agency. You should keep good call logs, and report bad activity right away, and every time it occurs, to the online Complaint forms active at FTC.gov and FCC.gov. Also, contact your phone and internet provider(s), and your state's Attorney General's Office.  Remember, when you yourself call or click on the harassing "company's" phone number or website, you're electronically verifying your active connection along with valuable personal, location, and phone/computer ID and proprietary System type and settings.

Survey
Hey Jim,
From what I understand, this phone number is for a company in Kansas called "VIP Research, Inc." and they are calling because they want you to take some sort of brief survey.  The next time they call you, answer the call, and tell them that (1) you do not wish to participate in this survey, or any surveys; and (2) that you would like them to remove your number from their internal call list.
Since they are not trying to sell you anything, they are exempt from the Do Not Call List.  If, once you speak with them, they continue to call you, you can submit a complaint on the National Do Not Call List website.  Make sure that you write down the date and time that they tried to call you (you'll need that to file the complaint.)  Good luck!

Hey, Andrew:  Either you're a liar, and you really aren't a VP of Research, or you're damn stupid.  You try to defend your position of calling people on the Do Not Call list because you are exempt?

How stupid do you have to be not to realize that people who put their numbers on the list don't care if you have an exemption.  The government made that exemption because bureaucrats were paid off by lobbyists for certain types of organizations. They took your money. I didn't.

So, I really don't give a crap why you think I should be receptive to your annoying damn phone calls, it's a junk call to me and I DIDN'T EXEMPT YOU!!!!  Got it!  Someone else exempted you.  Let them be polite to you.  You are rude to call me when I'm on the DNC list. Expect that attitude to come right back to you when you call me.  You might feel exempt, but I'm still going to tell you to go (%^& yourself!   Got it?

HOW TO GET OFF THEIR LIST:
Call 913-384-9494 (main office) Ask Nicole (the receptionist) to take your number off their list.  Seeing that they already have your phone number I don't see a problem giving it to them.  She assured me that she would send my number to the "boss" and have it removed.

The reason they call around dinner hours is because that's when people are *home.*  Calling while you're at work or asleep is kind of pointless.

I've worked at a place like that and generally the 'allowed times to call' are 8am to 8pm.  However it's usually a part time job, working from like 4pm-8pm.

The reason they don't leave a message is that they want random results for their survey...  A survey that is taken by people who call back after hearing a message that there is a survey will get (slightly) different results.

Generally, if there's enough numbers to call, they won't call again, unless they run out of numbers and need more response to their survey.  So leaving a message of "we might call back and ask you to do a survey" is also a waste of time and lowers the amount of numbers per hour they can call, especially since they might not call back, either.

Easiest thing to do is ask "are you selling something?"  If they are, they are required to say yes, by law, and if you're on the Do Not Call registry, they're breaking the law in calling you.  If they say No, either take their survey (it's really much appreciated by the way), ask them to call you back at a better time if you can't take it now, or say "I don't do surveys" which will have them mark your number to never be called back again.

The more people that actually take the survey, the less people get called overall, as well, since they stop when they reach their quota.

I have been asked to be removed several times and still get phone calls so obviously cordially asking to be removed does not work.  And calling people at 10 pm is outlandish!!!!  Some of us have small children who go to bed well before that and would like for them to stay asleep!!!  I have an in home daycare and have 6-8 kids in my house from 7 am-7pm and enjoy what little quiet time I can sneak in and do not appreciate your company calling me after I have requested to be removed from your list several times!!  And if your SAN# expired 3-31-2012, then how come I am still getting calls and it's April?  (I'm guessing you got a new one but still...)

Please be a reputable and honest company and respect peoples request to not be called anymore.  I just called back and talked to a real person since I was hung up on when I answered my phone and asked to be removed for what is at least the 5th time!  I informed her I  WILL be calling a lawyer if I get called again!  Maybe then you will listen and stop calling me like I have requested several times!!!!!

I keep getting calls from them and every time I push the button to be removed from the call list.  Called 913.384.9494 and pressed 112 and it took me to an actual person. Told them I was going to contact a lawyer if they called me again.  Lets see if it works!!

If anyone wants to be removed all you have to do is answer the phone and let us know when we call. We use a computer guided system that is not able to determine that if you do not answer your phone that you do not want us calling, and if no one answers it will call you back. We do media survey's Nation wide and we would either be calling doing an initial call or a follow up call. We are exempt from the DNC list  (do not call) and our SAN # is 10155939-255939-11 and expires 3/31/12. We are able to call cause we do not sell anything, but we ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CALL PAST 10pm! No one has ever received a call from our company at 11:30pm. We do not need people attacking the integrity of our company cause you can not pick up your phone and civilly ask to be removed. We also do not need threats at our company. We are a business and we are trying to make a living. So if you want removed just let us know and I will see that this happens.

Seriously?

What reputable "research" company calls at 11:30 pm?  So, I have to bend over and take their survey in the hopes they'll leave me alone after that? Whatever.

Anyway, the Do Not Call registry is a joke and a waste of time and resources. Period.

Another call from this # tonight - they said they were doing a national music survey.  Of course they are exempt from Do Not Call, aren't they all.  Asked to be removed from call list and they turned aroud and called again, asking for one of my kids.  This time I was not cordial to the same caller.  Only way to get rid of them is to block # so it goes directly to voice mail.  And, they will be back with a new # in a few weeks.

Have a friend in the FBI would indeed find the source of this call.  When he gets the info I will post it .  Maybe we can get a lynch mob and even go to the address and take care of it once and for all.

Many calls with hang ups: I finally looked up their # and the guy who said he would remove my name would not listen to me but just kept talking over me. I hope they DO remove it - we'll see. By the way, I worked for a phone market research company in college and we NEVER harassed people who did not want to participate.

Spartan, you are awesome. Thank you.

I called that number right after they called me, again, and hung up on me right after I asked to be taken off their list. Of course, nobody picked up the phone since it's quite late, so I left a friendly message.

I'll keep calling until I get to annoy one of them long enough to confirm I am not on their list anymore. We'll see how long that takes.

Spartan-
I just called them with the # and extension you gave and the person I spoke with said they would remove me from their list, even though 2 days before, I asked the other person who called to remove me (which she apparently did not do). THANKS!

I got phone calls from this company up until almost 9p CST, which is RIDICULOUS considering I have a 2-yr old who is in bed by 8:30p. I do not enjoy him waking up to some stupid research company. Irritating.

Company is VIP research, I googled them and called their number at 8pm EST.  (913)384-9494, if you listen to the options1, and then dial extension 112 it will send you to a supervisor who WILL put your number in their "do not call registry".
