Stop calling me I am on no call list

5:30pm Friday 5/23...  call came in... did not answer.

Consumer friendly. They conduct surveys for local city municipalities. Takes about 15 minutes. I'm a skeptic but if the survey might help the city I live in then great! If you like the city you live in but encourage change then it's probably a good idea to spend 15 minutes on a survey especially if you are paying taxes to that city.

Since the government only recognizes people as a number, now you have mine! So leave me THE HELL alone! How much attention would you pay to my answers anyway. It is a waste of breath that I do NOT plan to expend. So do your job and move to the next person on your list.

The way I look at it, my time is just as valuable as that of the callers so I simply tell them I charge 500$ for every phone survey I do, payable in advance 6 months ahead of time.  I also state that getting on my schedule doesn't mean you'll stay on my schedule.

Cheryl, the DNC doesn't cover Charity's, political calls, and some survey's. It also can not stop and doesn't protect you from illegal telemarketers, scammers and frauds - technically criminals who don't obey any laws.  However, they (charity's etc) are supposed to stop calling when asked. If they do not put you on the DNC internal list, they can get in trouble despite being a charity.

ETC Institute...don't know why they are calling me and don't care.  If they call again, I will block them.  The DNC list means NOTHING!!!!  Don't people get that?????

Etc is used by cities/towns, states to conduct tourism surveys

I received a call from ETC. Institue today. They told me they were doing a survey to determine street traffic patterns for TX-DOT (Texas Dept of Transportation) in my town. I agreed to paryicipate. They then told me to come by a local hotel here on Monday, pick up a GPS apparatus, and put it in my car. Then do my normal driving for 3 days. Then bring it back to them on Thursday. Once I return that GPS meter or apparatus, they would give me $50.00.

Is this legit or some sort of scam? Can someone let me know, since I've never heard of something like this before.

I'm also on the natl do not call list and rcv'd a call from this number.....didn't answer but DID call the Natl do not call # :   1-888-382-1222

Received a call, my phone wouldn't let me answer it.  I'm on the do not call list.

I got a call from ETC Institute 913-829-1215.  What happened to "do not call" list that I signed up for?

this phone number is identified on our caller id 913-829-1215. It is a fax machine, and has called my office non-stop since 8:00 am this morning.

Mike,   you will need to contact your phone company or buy a call blocker.  This is a discussion board only and has nothing to do with filtering calls.

We're on do not call list but keep getting calls from this number and wish to report them and have this stopped.

I have an answering machine..so if this is important why don't you leave your name and message..

I took the call today because i wanted to find out who was actually calling.  This is for TXDOT (TX dept of Transportation). They're conducting some research & asked if I could get a few people that drove our company vehicles to keep mileage lgs & driving habits for a couple days.
I assume this may be a research firm conducting this research for TXDOT.

Who the hell wants to donate to TX DOT when it's a government entity?!  That's fishy in itself! I live in Texas and we pay PLENTY for our roads& highways so I'm sure as hell not donating more of my hard earned money!

Well, since there have been untold 'TX Trooper' donation scams I ignore the calls. I did make a contribution one year & they called non-stop for several years afterwards even when asked to cease calling. I even had one guy make violent threats against me & I had the authorities try to track down who this scum bag was & they finally determined this person had zero affiliation to the TX Troopers.

There's some things you just cannot donate money too, esp in a tough economy because once you've donated they will really press you for money!

I totally agree with you, Shara!  I'm also on the do not call list, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.  I also have an unlisted number, but that doesn't matter, either.  It's just ridiculous!

I also had a call but no msg.  Called back and a very nice, polite young man assured me they're calling on behalf of our county library, but I'd not get any more calls.  He said they do survey work and a current survey involves our county library.

Just got a call from them on my do not call registered cell phone.  They claimed to be with "The Texas Department of Transportation" They mentioned some company name and address, both of which I had never heard of before.  They need top get a refund on the phone list from whomever they bought it from.

The Caller ID said ETC Institute.  Other posts indicate it is a research firm and not bound by the Do Not Call Registry.  When are they going to figure out that we are sick and tired of being bugged in our homes and we don't want to be called by any stranger.   By the way they called at 8:30 p.m.

How about I don't take your survey, then you and your company don't get paid?  Maybe the lot of you will go away and ALL the people posting to this site can use their own phone how they want.  I, for one, would be much happier!

How about if you "get it straight" and just stop calling/annoying people. Don't know or care what it is that you want, but if it's not for a charity or political, the do not call list applies to you, as it also should no matter what type of call it is.

Called the number back.  It is a marketing research firm.  She asked what state I lived in and said they are doing a Dept of Transportation survey in my area.  I did get a letter a few weeks back saying someone might be contacting me.  When I called the lady said they are not allowed to leave messages.  She said if I can answer the phone the next time they call I can tell them not to call me anymore.
