Thanks everyone for posting .  I too just got a Text from michael.  Sent him a text back saying no thanks scammer!

Tried calling my husband about a car we have for sale that we put on craigslist, wouldnt call only text, wanted to give us a check first then come pick up the car, made me nervous. Decided to blow him off. thank goodness after reading this, im glad i did.

This Jack Wagon tried to get me to fall for "can I send you a bank check and You cash it then I will come pick it up" scam. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCUM SUCKER! Always use plain common since and ALWAYS protect yourself and family. NEVER get in to big of a hurry for money or quick cash or at least anything that sounds to good to be true. Be patient and it will pay off for ya. As far as this "Michael" goes their is a special place in hell for people like him.

i had a car listed for sale on craigslist i also received a text from this number saying he wanted to buy my car and he works offshore so he would b sending a check. i knew it was a scam so i played he sent a check for 5500.00 from a chemical company . i called the bank it was written on and no such bank account. i contacted the company that was named on the check they said they get lots of these calls lately. the chemical company was in conneticut.,  the check was written on a bank in new york, and was mailed out from denver colorado.
about a week after the bogus check came i got a text asking me if i got the check. i replied you mean the fake one. no response go figure. the check looks real so i just hope that no one gets caught up on this scam .

I posted an add on Craigslist and also received a text message from Micheal at 914-297-7634. I live in Indiana and he apparently is from NY. Makes me wonder also.
