All you have to do is return the call or dial the number back. A recording will advice you to press 1 if you want to be placed on the DO NOT CALL  list. Not all these numbers will allow that; but a a lot of them do. Otherwise, get you telephone  company's special features, and block these numbers as fast as they show up.

I started out keeping a journal of calls, times and scam information; it was worthwhile and informative but what I do now feels a lot more satisfying: I edit the generic caller names, number not listed, member or card services message named callers and insert the date I made notes  with a brief one word descriptor such as 'scam-see 4April14'. Then I set the number of rings on my phone to maximum and if the caller is one of my suspicious callers I just go ' click on-click off'...one time I saw it was that 'Indian guy' who tries to sell you his computer virus removal program; I answered and said " I know you're a scam-p-off-don't call this number again'"

Received a call from 914-530-2368.  The caller id said 'Member Services'.  I didn't answer because I didn't know the number.  I know it's easier said than done, but if you don't know the number, don't answer.  Answering only lets them know they've reached a working number with a possible target.  File a report with the FTC.  Complaining about how the Do Not Call list isn't working isn't really true, because that's a list of voluntary compliance and for people who are out to scam you, it's just one more law to break.

I received a call from this number as well.  I've always followed-up with the do not call registry, but never had success with any follow-up.  Of course they broke all the rules, but as earlier noted the best advice is two fold--post on sites like this one to get the word out if you know what the caller is trying to sell, and get a phone system that allows blocking of such numbers.  My robo-calls are virtually non-existent other than a survey from time to time.  Also, for debt consolidation, always be leery--the goal is for the debt consolidator to get you to secure the loan against property you own.  A close friend did this and when he fell on hard times, nearly lost his home because of the lien against it.  Best thing to do is to lay out a budget if you can and pay down the debt with the highest payment first, and don't use the card to gather more debt.

Here it is SEVEN MONTHS later and this SCAM is still ongoing.  Got this call today while unable to answer, so the machine picked up.  Since now it knows this is a 'live' number, I will have to BLOCK it, but I'll still get calls from whatever NEW spoofed number they use after this one.

Received a call from 914-530-2368.  Caller id said 'Member Services'.  I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, so I quickly Googled the number and found this page.  Glad I didn't answer.  For calls like these, complaining about the Do Not Call list is useless.  These criminals aren't going to pay any attention to that list.  The best recourse is to report this to the FTC.

Set your answering macine to 6 rings. They only let it ring 4 or less times and they hang up.
That way they do not know you have a live number.

Scammer alert.  Report the number to www.donotcall.gov .  Once there are enough complaints that company will be shut down again and we will have peace for a month or so.  Scammers like this are eventually caught and are put in jail.

I forgot to mention, that as of today, I have posted warnings of the medic alert for seniors scam on 48 different spoofed numbers. Does it do any good???--I guess if it stops 1 person from being taken advantage of it was worth the time.

"John", the medic alert for seniors scammer's recording, hasn't been heard from in about a week. I wonder if "John" has entered drug rehab, as most of the scammers have a need for? Or is it possible that "John" has been replaced by this new twist on the scam after "he" was exposed by the media and many hundreds of postings on this site and others? This new monetary offering appeared soon after poor "John" departed. This scam is fairly new, compared to others that have been going on for a decade. As we continue to report the abuse, I believe it is most important to warn the potential victims, until a resolution is found, so they will not suffer in the interim. Personally, we are on the Federal and Wisconsin do not call list, and I actually can't remember any unwanted calls, except from disreputable (criminal) organizations, such as the medic alert for seniors scammers, card service scammers etc.

The Do Not Call List is a list of phone numbers where telemarketers are not wanted and a law requiring telemarketers not call any number on the list.  Like most laws it relies on voluntary compliance.   Bill collectors, charites, polsters and politicians are excempt from the law, as are companies you have done buisness with or discussed business with.  The law is doing what it was supposed to do.  The pests selling photograpy services and time shares have stopped.

For a scammer its just one more law to break.

Really? Stop discouraging folks from filing complaints.  Discouraging sounds more like a shill working for the other side rather then working for the lawful and trying to get the creeps caught! Some of those creeps live in foreign country's and if their government doesn't co-operate with us, then they continue on!

Please do file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..

The card service scammers and the medic alert for seniors scammers appear to be sharing this number to try to cheat people, especially the elderly. These groups of scammers are so disgusting that I wouldn't be surprised that if they failed to cheat a person on one of these scams they don't try the second scam on them during the same phone call! Don't be fooled by these scum--all they want is our credit card numbers so they can rip us off!

The FTC does not handle individual complaints,, though they do send you confirmation of your filing one. They keep logs of complaints and then after a number gets so many complaints they MIGHT take action to get them to stop. The scammers will then simply change their number, as they did with this one.
The Do Not Call Registry also does NOT handle individual complaints, they work the same way as the FTC (they are the same entity).

The best thing you can do is to buy a Call Blocker. I have and after they call for the first time, you push a button to add the number, and from then on it is blocked. All you hear is ONE ring (because the unit has to read the caller ID) but after a while they stop calling.
It has made my days and nights SO much more peaceful!!
