This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I received a call for someone at a( 916-287-3958) number and he told me that he was calling me from the federal office but never stated where and wanted my personal information so I never stated to him if I was or wasn't the person he was asking about then he I asked him what was the nature of this call and he said that it was pretaining to federal crimes that I had committed, so I told him if I had committed this federal crime, why haven't the police came looking for me themselves and that is when he told me that he can not help me and he gave someone he said is suppose to be my attorney through them. The so called attorney name and number that he gave me was Ronnie Copper and his number was the same number that the first man had called me from being the (916-287-3958). When I called back at that number he asked me for the same information that the first idiot asked me for and  when I did not respond to him as he liked he got very upset and in aloud tone of voice said that he was going to send the police to pick me up right now! I do not know the whole reason as to why he called only that one guy stated that it was federal business and did not elaborate any further.

By the way he says his name was Gary Carter.  With a foreign accent, I don't think so!!

I received a call from a "John Anderson" today. Everything everyone else is saying happened to me. I apparently have 3 criminal charges against me, I owe money for a loan I didn't receive and if I don't pay it immediately I'll be arrested at my job. It is truly alarming that he knew where I live and where I work. I hope they catch these guys soon. What I'm really worried about though is if they have all this information about me, do they have my banking information too? If anyone has any experience with that or knows I hope they post it. I am repeatedly receiving threatning phone calls from this number. Telling me may god be with me and he can't be responsible for what happens to me if I don't return his call. I have reported this numerous times to the FTC! Sometime they tell me they are from the Internal Check fraud deptartment. I called the FBI location in Cincinnati and they explained this is a telemarkerter trying to get my identity. These people need arrested!!!!

Keeps calling my cell and my place of employment. I ignore the calls because they have an foreign accent with an American name which makes think b***s***.  Also pretending to be an officer of the law is against the law.  Then at the end of the message they say have a good day and god bless.  I have filed bankruptcy because of the current housing situation and I'm divorced.  These peolple need to get a life and stop buying discharged debts.  We all have money problems and don't need them to get a cent.  My co-workers had some fun with him and he got upset, started the threaten them.  They turned it around and called them back asking of for me which was funny.  It is a total scam and they keep ghosting their numbers from all over the united states.

I have been getting calls from this same number, saying his name was John Smith. (Red flag) he made a mistake and left a different number for me to call back that was a bank in CA, I spoke with someone there and they have no idea how this person is getting a number from with in their company and they are looking into it. What ever state you are in and get a call from this person report it, and follow theses tips If you are contacted by someone who is trying to collect a debt that you do not owe, you should:

   Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
   Contact your bank(s) and credit card companies;
   Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
   If you have received a legitimate loan and want to verify that you do not have any outstanding obligation, contact the loan company directly;
   File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

I just got call this week from that number 916-282-3130,with different name, plus heavy accents voice, threatening that sheriff would pick me up days ago, I have some one call him back but he keep hanging up too, he knows a lit of my information, job, ss#,bank and all, we tried several times calling back they kept hanging up, this is very scary, these people can tap ur information and use it, some days the phone maysay disconnect but its not they doing some to it to make us think that, somebody please help us put these people in jail!!

Praise god I hope yall can catch them they call and threaten me, and I was so afraid but I been talking with people in high places, and they working on to stop this mess!!

I just got the call from Ronnie Cooper.  He knew where I worked and other key info about me.  When I asked for details as to when I took the loan in question he told me to shut up and listen to what he was saying/...LOL.  He said he was going to be sending the FBI to my job if I didnt pay him today.  After I read your posts UI caled him back to tell him I knew he was a fraud and he said f**k you, f**k you and he hung up the phone

just got a call from this number and they told me i owe them money and they told me i would go to jail if i didn't pay them i am not going to pay them and told them i needed a statement they told me to get a atty i am not going to pay something i don't owe i hope someone gets these peolpe.

I just receive a phone call about I owe a loan. I requested a loan a day before this call. They believe I work at Skype, I don't. So, I know where they receive the information from. On that note, if you receive a phone call from this number....916-282-3130...hung up it's FRAUD!!!!! They said I was going to jail.

I got a call from the 916-282-3130 today 8/23/2012 .. They called my cell and then called my work. They told me I had 3 lawsuites against me. I knew it was bogus because that would be impossible. I asked if I could call them back when I got off work. When I got home I told my friend and he called, it was a boiler room operation because he could hear a lot of other people on the phone calling people. He pretended to be my husband and asked why was my information not on the lawsuite because everything was in both of our names. They had no answer to that one. After a few minutes the guy said have a good day and hung up. My friend called them back every 5 seconds for 2 hours , the guy finally asked please dont call back.

I am posting this number on craigslist all over the USA asking people to call them until their phone blows up. I have also reported them to the FBI , They are trying to scare people into sending them money that they don't owe. FRAUD ! if you read this and get their call please call them in your spare time just to have something to do. Thanks

Do not answer his call honey.... Have the # blocked thru ur phone company.. Delete all yahoo accounts or whatever account u have online & get a new one but dont use ur real name or real birthdate... Frezze or change all bank accounts & credit/ debit cards that u have.. also call ur local law enforcement office & file a complaint... have a officer talk to u on what to do & from that it will be documented that this happened. if there is enough complaints made.. something will be done.. be safe

I recieved this very Call From Ronnie Cooper & Mark Watson from (916) 282-3130. The Indian accented man told me that he was from Cash Advance America for a payday loan that i had gotton from them, from which i did not!!!  i did not answer my house or cell when they inititally called so they left the exact same voice mail on both phones but 2 diff names by the same person.. I called the # back.. "Ronnie Cooper" answered & asked for my phone # to pull up my info.. then he proceeded to inform me that he was from Cash Advance America & that the FBI & Law Enforcemet will be on my door step in the morning.( With that said, he read off my SS#.. DOB... address & banking account info & then said " isnt this you?"of course i said yes) ( then..). I asked what for.. He told me for frauding info on a payday loan that their company had given me money for & that i had never paid bk. that they went into my banking account && it bounced 6 times.. i told him i had no idea what he was talking about... he got outraged. he told me "dont ask me ask your husband stupid questions like that" i said excuse me??? He said.. "either u pay me $699.99 or The fbi & police dept will be @ ur door in the am".. then he asked how much i had on me.. i replied with $5.. He still got angry. & then told me that will not do. that i had to pay the full amount immediately. I replied with.. I have no idea what the loan if for.. He started yelling at me with "i will hunt u down" i replied with "are u threating me??" he replied "yes i am & u better be scared, if i was u i would go hide because i am comeing to get you"" so i replied " so u are threating me" he replied " i wouldnt go to sleep tonight if i was u because i am comeing for you" i replied " i thought the FBI & Police Dept are comeing" he replied "ooh they are & i will be there personally" i replied "well i am calling the police now because you are threating my life" he replied " i would be scared because they will not beable to identify you when i am thru"......................... I was scared shitless until i call my local police dept & had a deptudy come on & reasure me that everything was ok & that there are no warrent & that the FBI wasnt out for me.. I had him Call the FBI..... i was then instructed to delete all online accounts & change all phone #s and also to call my bank back n freeze my account.... ... thank god its just a scam cause i was scared. now.. im outraged & if i ever find this person i am sueing their a***s big time..... I filed a complaint with the FTC, notified my bank, and had my credit report flagged.  The information to call the police and file a report is good.

Received unwanted harrasment phone call saying that there is a lawsuit against me.  That I took a payday loan, which I never did, and I'm going to be arrested.  Somehow they had my SS#, I have never given this out to anyone that didn't need it legit, (employers, taxes).  They were foul mouth, rude, foreign, saying they represented a lawyer.  The calls come from CA.  I notified my bank, and the FTC.

This happened to me today. They called my work, my cell phone, had my SSN and I can only imagine what other information they have. How scarey. After I found all of this information on the web they actually called again. I told them I had already contacted my local police and they would be in touch and the guy hung up.

I received the same call today in this manner. This was definitely disconcerting! And the fact that he kept talking over me and telling me he would not fax me the documents in question is not legal. When you hear that someone has 3 suits against you, and that they need the money right now, and they are sending the FBI and cops in the morning to arrest me. The most questionable was when he asked if there was any amount I could pay toward the supposed amount owed, I told him $50 and he them immediately told me that he had nothing else for me that there was nothing he would do to settle this matter, and be prepared for the FBI and cops to come for me and hung up abruptly. As scary as this all is, with the amount of information he had, and I bet he works with scammers that get info from when we look into payday loans, it is almost humerous how aggrivated he seemed when questioned eventhough he said he wanted silence from me while he read the affa davit, and then hed answer all my questions...nope, no such luck.

I am so glad to hear that this is a hoax because I was really agittated and a tad nervous knowing that I was square with the loans I have.
