I got a 3 calls repeatedly this morning at 7am called the number back said he was John Anderson some attorney from California and would be filing fraud charges on me if I did not send him $1000 today, I told him I did not have that kind of money and did not know what he was talking about and that I would be checking with my bank today and he said not to deposit my check to cash it and he would tell me what to do with the money....this is most certainly a scam!!!!  When I told him I could not send him the money he said wait and watch what I will do!! Then called my cell 3 more times from a different number 415-486-6741, which I did not answer and he did not leave any message but he did have the name of the company I work for so I am going to push this a little further to find out who these people are.

This company has called my unlisted number over and over again. I have left several messages to stop calling.  They keep calling. They try to make it sound like they are from the utility company but they are selling solar equipment.  I called their number from my phone call log about 20 times today to get a human voice but they will not respond.  I am on the do not call registry.uninown

19 failed attempts by these baboon's!!! Total freaking idiots!!!
I smelled a scam right from the start, found each of these numbers while doing an online search for a related/similar scam then blacklisted them. Each time these slug bait idiots attempted calling they were stopped!!! What total moron's and how desparate and sadly pathetic they are! I'm also willing to bet they are growing not only increasingly more desparate but frustrated with each failed attempt! Not once have they got through and each time they have failed and will continue to fail.

Each of these numbers nowhere matches those of my utlitity companies and nowhere to that of the heat and air service I use... all three I'd make the call not the other way around.  There's a lot found online about exactly what this is ... a utlitity rate reduction scam (just type that into a google search and go!!!), my local ultity cos. (gas and electric) have warned about this scam too as have others across the country! No Fed Govt program or stimulus to 'pay' your bills for you, no credits either, fake routing number being used to steal your payment... the utlity co. never sees it, they also ask for soc. security # and other personal info which NO utlity co. would ever ask fom you ... these moron's are also attempting identity theft as well as perfetrating fraud!!! They also robo-dial numbers, use caller ID spoofing, pre recorded messages just like all the other scammers do!!!

And I KNOW, as a fact, that PG & E, SMUD and my heat & air service people are NOWHERE near Sloughouse, Loomis, Michigan Bar or Lincoln, Folsom or Rio Linda, CA.

In the event that these brainless wonders happen to read these boards: Tou a-holes really need to give it up!!! You pathetic little attempts to call and try and scam me are never going to get through! Got that!!! Either really fell head over heels for the message you will continue getting each time or you really have way too much empty space between your pathetic lIttle shoulders ... or both!!!
On the other hand, I do appreciate the laugh you moron's are providing even though it makes you look absolutely desperate and increasingly that much more idiotic and stupid!!!

I never pick up on numbers I don't recognize, and if I need anything from my utility companies and heat and air service I will contact them. I also know that these a-holes have been using spoofed numbers and that their scam is all over the country! Many utility companies and many articles all over the Internet have warned about this stupid scam. Not one utility co. would ever ask you for your personal information (such as social security number) ... this is an attempt to steal your utility payment and possibly your identity! In other words, they are attempting identity theft as well as engaged in fraud!!

Again (in case these a-holes read this): GIVE IT UP!!! EACH ATTEMPT OF YOURS HAS FAILED AND WILL NEVER GET THROUGH!!!  I KNOW IT'S A STUPID SCAM AND WILL NEVER FALL FOR IT! GOT THAT! GIVE IT UP!!! but yea, thanks for the laugh. LMAO! Although it really is sad that you turkey's seem to have a penchant for wanting to increasingly make yourself more idiotic each time.

LMAO!!! That confirms it!!! These totally brain dead a holes have fallen in love with a disconnected number message. That's all they will EVER get in the future every time they try and call my number with their obviously spoofed number!!! This last FAILED attempt by these jack a**es makes it 13 failed attempts!!!!

I don't need any service (repair or otherwise) on my heat & air system and I'd I ever did I'd call the service I have always used and I WOULD MAKE THE CALL not the other way around. Same with SMUD and also
PG & E!!!

And I KNOW as a fact that their is NO credits and all through the federal govt. ... not any of any kind!!! And I also know that any routing number given over the phone via this and the other spoofed numbers is fake!!! No bills get paid but these scammers would wind up ripping you off anyway. They also ask for social security number and other personal information too!!! Which is something any actual utility co. would NEVER do!!!

Total waste of time by these a-holes!!! And I wind up LMAO every time they try and fail to scam me as they progressively make themselves that much more foolish, stupid, idiotic, moronic and desperate!!!

I win, they lose!!! LMAO!!!

See previous post and those here by others about this assinine scam!!! Spells it all out clearly!!!

(And in case the moron's behind this spoofed number and making these calls read these boards), time to give it up! You are losing here! Haven't succeeded once with me!!! SCAM!!!! NOT A FEDERAL PROGRAM!!!! NOT PG & E OR SMUD OR ANY UTLITIE COMPANY!!!! NOT LEGIT!!! SCAM PURE AND SIMPLE!!!!

... "the caller asks for your Social Security and bank routing numbers. In return, customers are provided a phony bank routing number and told to make payments electronically through this account, under the pretense it is connected to a government stimulus program. In reality, there is no money and no program. In addition, customers may believe they have paid their bills when in fact they have not."

http://www.idahostatesman.com/2012/06/21/2162 ... bill-scams.html

"The scammers work online, by phone and door-to-door. They convince unknowing customers to provide sensitive information, such as social security numbers, to apply for the ?program.? They then give the customer a fake bank routing number to make a partial payment, promising a credit on the account. That payment never gets to the utility company. Nor does the credit.

As part of the scam, customers are being told that President Obama has approved special funding through the Federal Reserve Bank for utility bill assistance. There is no such funding.""

https://www.duquesnelight.com/forYourHome/sav ... wareofScams.cfm

"Victims typically receive an automated phone call informing them of the nonexistent utility program that will supposedly pay up to $1,000. There have been reports of the hoax spreading by text message, fliers left at homes and even personal visits.

Victims are told that all they have to do is provide their personal information. In exchange, they are given a bank routing number and checking account number to provide their utility company when making a payment.

The swindle works because the payments with the fake bank account number are initially accepted. Only when the payments are processed hours or days later is the fake number caught and rejected.

But by then, victims have told friends about the offer, posted it online and, most important, turned over personal information that could allow con artists to dip into their bank accounts or steal their identity."

http://article.wn.com/view/2012/07/12/Scam_cl ... _utility_bills/

"Through automated phone calls, door-to-door visits and online solicitation, scammers are telling people that President Obama has approved utility bill assistance through the Federal Reserve Bank.

There is no such funding.

The scammers ask for personal information, such as Social Security numbers, and then provide a fraudulent bank routing number for the customer to pay his utility bill.

The scammers' goal is to steal the customer's identity or utility payment."

http://www.omaha.com/article/20120613/NEWS01/706149929

This is from SMUD:
""Have you heard about offers to pay your utility bills in exchange for information like your Social Security number? Or maybe you've heard that President Obama has a program to pay your bill if you simply apply, sharing some personal information.

Of course, these aren't real -- they're scams that have popped up recently in a variety of ways. Some people have been fooled. Don't be one of them.

SMUD will never ask for vital personal information over the phone and will only take credit card information in the rare instance when you want to pay by phone. And our workers in the field will never ask for a credit card."

https://www.smud.org/en/about-smud/news-media ... 1-new-scams.htm

From PG & E:
"The scam, which has been reportedly taking place in person, through social media, through posted fliers and through text messages, claims that President Obama is providing a credit or directly paying utility bills. In some cases, customers have been asked for social security numbers to apply payments to customers? utility bills, presenting an identity-theft risk.

PG&E is reminding customers that its representatives would not ask for personal or banking information over the phone."

http://www.pgecurrents.com/2012/05/17/custome ... e-utility-scam/

Speaking for myself here:
? These scam calls are on my second line.  My main number is what's on my accounts
? I already had weather stripping and all necessary work done on my house over two years ago and my meter was also already updated.  Energy Star has always neen a part of my energy service. The energy stuff (weather stripping, duct work etc.) was done through my local utility service, same with upgrading my meter.
? I would call both my utility providers and my heat and air service for any necessary repair not the other way around
? This scam, like all the others usually winds up with you being asked for personal info, and also supposedly involves some kind of 'rate' reduction' program (the others were loans, credit cards or similar)
? These idiots are trying to offer something I don't need, something totally useless as I already have things taken care of here. I know their bs is just a bs spiel in order to try and scam me
? They also use pre recorded messages, robo-dialing and won't stop calling everyone on the National Do Not Call Registry
? Pressing a number (any number), calling back or even picking up to answer only confirms to them that they called a live number (something ALL the other phone scams do)
? By now, they have far surpassed the worst offenders in their incessant, harrasing and illegal scam calls!!!!

SCAM ALERT!!!!

These a-holes are either relentless or totally clueless!!! Not once since their scam started showing up have I ever fallen for it!!! NOT ONCE!!! Blacklisted their number(s) - all spoofed - right from the start!!!!

A few things from several posts here:

? NOT ONE of the numbers I have for P G & E, SMUD and the Heat and Air Repair Service I use even match this one (or any other spoofed) number they use
? If I don't recognize the number on Caller ID (even if it has the local area code) I DO NOT pick up/answer it!!!
These idiots can keep trying till Hell freezes over.  They won't get anywhere.... except making bigger fools of themselves and showing clearly how lame, stupid and desparate they really are!!!
? There's a new trend obviously that includes the area code used by those these moron's call and try and scam people ... because they must foolishly think that if the Area Code is a familiar one people will foolishly fall for it!!! NOT!!!
? This scam has now been moved right up their with the worst: Cardholder Services (interest rate lowering scam), Home Protection (security system scam), loan modification scam and that phony 3-5 question survey/2 day bahamas cruise (time share scam)

Some more info ...

FACT: SMUD will NOT EVER ask for your vital personal information

From PG & E:

? These scammers have even used social media, posted fliers and used text messaging to scam people also
FACT: PG & E also will NOT EVER ask for personal information. As these scammers will!!!

Can we say .... BUSTED? We sure as h*ll can!!!

And yes, this number that shows on CID is a spoofed number (as are all the numbers these idiots use)!!!

? Robo-dial numbers
? Pre recorded message
? Use multiple caller ID spoofed numbers to avoid being blocked ... all for the same BS!!!
? Blatantly call people on the National Do Not Call Registry
? Offering to reduce utility or energy rates etc. (similar to the other scams claiming to reduce some kind of rate)
? Won't stop calling, refuse to stop calling when told to
? Pressing a number to be placed on a non-existant no-call list doesn't work.  But places your number on a "suckers list" as a live/working number where it's passed on to other scammers
? Ask for CC #, Social Security number and other sensitive personal information somewhere in their 'call'. Like all the other scams do!!!
? Currently using the 916 or other familiar local area codes in an attempt to fool any they call into falling for their little scam.  A trend that has just recently started with all the other scams along with this one!!!

All the above = SCAM!!!

The area code may be local but just because it is doesn't mean this is not a spoofed number, and I know this is not from either SMUD or PG & E or from the AC/Heater repair service I use ... and certainly not from the Government either!!! (See all my previous posts), this is the same stupid scam that has made it's way through the entire country using local area codes like they have here.  It appears this one has turned out to be the new flavor ...  Previously it was a free security system, credit card rate reduction, loan modification and a phoney political/2 day Bahamas cruise scam (that was actually a time share scam). But apparently this one has surfaced and has reached the same harassing call level as the others have. Already within the last few weeks these a-holes have tried (and failed) EIGHT times but since I already blacklisted them the first time their call/scam fails and my phone never rings! FYI, SMUD is located in DOWNTOWN Sacramento; P G & E is located in or near DOWNTOWN Sacramento (95826) and I know, as a fact, that my AC/Heating Repair Service is located around or in Roseville NOT ONE of these is in either Lincoln, Sloughhouse or Michigan Bar (where these calls claim to come from) ... NOT one (and that's where these scam calls claim to be coming from)!!!

Lincoln is above Loomis, Ca. (further north of Roseville and even Rocklin) and Sloughhouse is a small area SOUTH of Mather and certainly further south of Roseville and nowhere near downtown Sacramento. Michigan Bar was a former mining camp near the Consumnes River!!!! Like Mike said on Aug. 10th .... kinda oxymoronic!!! It's on the other side of Rancho Murietta from Sloughhouse!!! ? This scam has now been moved right up their with the worst: Cardholder Services (interest rate lowering scam), Home Protection (security system scam), loan modification scam and that phony 3-5 question survey/2 day bahamas cruise (time share scam)

Some more info (from a post here about the same scam but different spoofed number):

http://www.idahostatesman.com/2012/06/21/2162 ... bill-scams.html

"The scam call states President Obama or the federal government has a new program that provides credits that can be applied to payments of utility bills.

To receive the credits, the caller asks for your Social Security and bank routing numbers. In return, customers are provided a phony bank routing number and told to make payments electronically through this account, under the pretense it is connected to a government stimulus program. In reality, there is no money and no program. In addition, customers may believe they have paid their bills when in fact they have not."

"Across the nation there have been reports of scam artists tricking customers into believing a special Federal program will help pay their utility bills.

The scammers work online, by phone and door-to-door.

There is no such funding."

http://article.wn.com/view/2012/07/12/Scam_cl ... _utility_bills/

"The scheme spread quickly across the nation in recent weeks with help from victims who unwittingly shared it on social media sites before realizing they had been conned out of personal information such as Social Security, credit card and checking account numbers. ...

Here?s how it works: Victims typically receive an automated phone call informing them of the nonexistent utility program that will supposedly pay up to $1,000.

But by then, victims have told friends about the offer, posted it online and, most important, turned over personal information that could allow con artists to dip into their bank accounts or steal their identity."

http://www.omaha.com/article/20120613/NEWS01/706149929

"Through automated phone calls, door-to-door visits and online solicitation, scammers are telling people that President Obama has approved utility bill assistance through the Federal Reserve Bank.

There is no such funding.

The scammers ask for personal information, such as Social Security numbers, and then provide a fraudulent bank routing number for the customer to pay his utility bill.

The scammers' goal is to steal the customer's identity or utility payment."

From SMUD:
https://www.smud.org/en/about-smud/news-media ... 1-new-scams.htm
"Have you heard about offers to pay your utility bills in exchange for information like your Social Security number? Or maybe you've heard that President Obama has a program to pay your bill if you simply apply, sharing some personal information.

Of course, these aren't real -- they're scams that have popped up recently in a variety of ways. Some people have been fooled. Don't be one of them.

SMUD will never ask for vital personal information over the phone and will only take credit card information in the rare instance when you want to pay by phone. And our workers in the field will never ask for a credit card."

From PG & E:
http://www.pgecurrents.com/2012/05/17/custome ... e-utility-scam/

BUSTED!!!!]

These are frauds out to try and scam you out of all they can ... maybe even your identity!!!

I'm also sure that somewhere in their call they will ask for CC #, Social Security number and other sensistive personal information.  Clearly a red flag that these are scammers trying to get all they can illegally from you!!!

This seems to be a company that changes its number periodically.  It is very annoying and I can't believe anybody would buy from them, whatever they may be selling.  I am on the no call list but apparently that is a useless thing to be doing.  How can we get rid of these useless pieces pieces of junk.

Prank Call
Okay, now I really can't stop laughing here.

These stupid idiots tried yet again! LMAO! Well, once again they can keep trying, keeping making themselves even bigger a**es and looking even more desperate till Hell freezes over (which it never will)!!!

Their stupid little attempt at scamming me failed once again, phone still hasn't rang when they tried as it was already blacklisted and each time they try all they get is they same disconnected number message ... every time!

I already know this neither any of PG & E's or SMUD's numbers
I already know this is not the number for the AC/Heating repair service I use and, as far as that's concerned, won't switch. My unit is on extended warranty and any service I don't need to pay for until the warranty ends (which has at least a few more years on it). And my Heat & Air is working just fine anyway.
I know this is a spoofed number these idiots are using ... and apparently they use robo-dialers to call random numbers (they even called folks that aren't even in California), they use a recorded message when making their so called calls and probably ask for your CC number at the end of their call to ... ALL things the other scammers use and do!!! This is NOT a legitimate business in any way!!!

This number keeps calling my work cell phone. I never pick up because I do not recognize the number and they never leave a message. They call every two days like clockwork... It's getting pretty obnoxious!

Just received a call from this number to my CELL PHONE. When the phone rings and you answer and there's no one there and it just hangs up, that means that it's an automated robo call designed to test the number to see whether it's a valid number or not. Scamsters like this do "cold dialing" where they collect all the prefixes in an area code and set their computer to dial every number in every prefix, beginning with 0000, 0001, 0002, etc. This is how they develop lists. Operators like this aren't telemarketers themselves, although they sometimes do provide a number to broadcast for Caller ID to those who purchase their lists. If you don't answer then their computer will probably keep retrying until someone answers. If you do answer your number is recorded as a valid operating number and added to their list. They don't give a s*** whether it's a cell phone, fax, etc. If you can block the number, DO. And, report the activity to FTC and file a complaint with the www.donotcall.gov if your number is listed with them.
